Born in the village of Gontor May 24,

1947. The sixth son of KH. Ahmad

Sahal.

Educational background:

Completed elementary education

at Gontor in 1959. Three months

before completing elementary

school, he was accepted at KMI

Pondok Modern Gontor. KMI finished

in 1965, Hasan Abdullah Sahal

continued his studies at the Faculty

of Islamic Education at the IPD and

taught at KMI for two and a half

years. In 1967 he had the opportunity

to continue his studies at the Faculty

of Da'wah and Ushuluddin Islamic

University of Madinah Al-

Munawwarah. In 1992 he specialized

in Hadith at Al-Azhar University in

Egypt.

M. Zaaf Fadlan Rabbani Al-

Garamatan or commonly known as

Ustad Fadzlan Garamatan is a

native of Irian, dark skinned,

bearded and always dressed in

robes. He is also the Caregiver of the

Al Fatih Kaaffah Nusantara (AFKN)

Islamic Boarding School which is

known for Islamizing around 220

tribes in Papua by preaching to

remote areas of Papua. He also has

converted as many as 3712 Papuans

to SYAHADAH.

M. Zaaf Fadlan Rabbani Al-

Garamatan was born on May 17,

1969 in Patipi, Fak-fak. The third child

of seven siblings was born to a

Muslim family. His father was named

Machmud Ibn Abubakar Ibn Hussein

Ibn Suar Al-Garamatan, and his

mother, Siti Rukiah binti Ismail Ibnu

Muhammad Iribaram. his father was

a teacher of recitation in his village

who worked as an elementary

teacher, too.

Fadzlan is still a descendant of King

Pattipi, the ruler of the first Islamic

kingdom in Irian. Primary to high

school education is taken in Fak-Fak.

In 1980 he went on to the Economics

Faculty of a well-known university in

Makassar, graduating in 1984.

Although his parents were teachers

and had decent income compared

to the surrounding residents, Fadzlan

went to college at his own expense.

He sells soft drinks with push carts.

Not enough to study religion from his

father, while studying at the Faculty

of Economics, University of

Hasanuddin Makassar in the 80's,

Fadlan Garamatan was then active

in various religious organizations in

Makassar and Java. For example

being the Secretary of the Youth

Development Section of the Great

Mosque of Makassar, the

management of the Islamic Student

Association (HMI), and various

religious activities on campus.

He is the Muqaddam Thariqah Al-

Ustadz Yusuf Mansur was born in

Jakarta, December 19, 1976, born of

a well-off Betawi family, he is the son

of Abdurrahman Mimbar &

Humrifíah, he is very pampered by

his parents. When he graduated

from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri One

Grogol School in 1992, he was a

student who got the title with the

best graduates. Yusuf Mansur went

on to study in Informatics but

unfortunately, he did not continue

his studies until he finished because

he prefers motor racing.

Shaykh Ahmad Dabbagh is an

educationalist and a specialist in the

science of Self- Purification (Tazkiya-

tun-Nafs). He received authorisation

in this discipline linking back to many

prominent spiritual masters such as

Sayyidina Abdul Azeez Ad-Dabbagh

(Rahimahullah) and Sayyidina Abdul

the Lebanon. In 1976 He moved to

Ukraine, where he studied at the

Dr. Khaled Chouket was born in Hadj

Gacem, Tunisia on November 11,

1969. He is a Former Minister and

Spokesman for Tunisian government.

He also a writer, journalist, and an

advocate for democracy and

human rights. He is the founder and

chairman of the Salha Foundation

for Environment and Development in

Sfax, Tunisia, and founded the

Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, which

he has directed since 2001.

Dr. Khaled Chouket has held

numerous positions in the field of

journalism, most recently as editor-in-

chief of the Tunisian daily Al

Moharrer, and the weekly Tunes Al

Horra. He has also produced

television programs and

documentaries for several Arab and

European TV networks. In addition,

he has written opinion pieces in

famous pan-Arab newspapers such

as Al Hayat, Al Quds Al Arabi, Elaph,

and Al Ahram. The author of ten

books on topics ranging from

Tunisian politics to political Islam and

democracy, Dr. Chouket is also a

strong advocate for causes of

democracy and human rights in the

Arab world.

interreligious dialogue in describing

Hizb ut-Tahrir .

On the current importance of Islam

in Tatarstan Samigullin points to the

rapid expansion of Islamic visibility in

the country: "20 mosques Tatarstan

had 25 years ago, today there are

1500."

Dr Fatris Bakaram became

Singapore’s third mufti in 2011. To

prepare for this role, he went to the

University of Birmingham in Britain to

do his doctorate in Islamic law. Dr

Fatris comes from a family of religious

teachers, and has been one himself

since the 1990s. He still conducts a

class at a mosque every Sunday

The Mufti comes from a family of

religious teachers. His father,

Bakaram Osman, was an ustaz in the

Pasir Panjang village Dr Fatris grew

up in, and his mother is a housewife.

He is the third of four children, and an

elder brother and younger sister are

religious teachers.

His father, who died in 1995, was a

major influence in his life. "He always

emphasised the need to be calm in

the face of challenges, and the

importance of appreciating

different points of view even if we

disagree with them," he says.

"That shaped me as a person. Some

of his students say they see his

reflection in me. I am a person who

does not vent. Even when times get

tough, I have to be tough in my

thoughts, in my thinking, in the

process of coming to a decision, but

in my interaction, Fatris is Fatris."

He studied at Pasir Panjang Primary

School before switching to

Madrasah Aljunied. In 1988, he left

for Egypt's prestigious Al-Azhar

University to study Islamic theology,

returning in 1993.

Imran Nazar Hosein (born 1942) is an

Islamic scholar, author and

philosopher specializing in Islamic

eschatology, world politics,

economics, and modern socio-

economic/political issues. He is the

author of Jerusalem in the Qur'an

and other books.

Biography

Imran Hosein was born on the

Caribbean island of Trinidad in 1942

from parents whose ancestors had

migrated as indentured labourers

from South Asia. He worked for

several years as a Foreign Service

Officer in the Ministry of Foreign

Affairs of the Government of Trinidad

and Tobago. He served as Principal

of the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic

Studies in Karachi as well as Imam at

Masjid Dar al-Qur'an in Long Island,

New York. He also led the weekly

Jumu'ah prayers and delivered the

sermon at the United Nations

headquarters in Manhattan once a

month for ten years.

He has traveled extensively around

the world on Islamic lecture tours

since graduating from the

Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies

in 1971 at age 29. He has written

more than a dozen books on Islam

Imran Hosein got inspired by a

visiting scholar in his teens

Muhammad Fazlur Rahman Ansari

from Pakistan so much so that he

decided to go to Pakistan for

studying in Aleemiyah Institute of

Islamic Studies in Karachi where

Ansari was a principal.

He mastered his studies in both Islam

and contemporary modern western

world.
