What does the GDS do?
• A worldwide computerized reservation network used as a single point
of access for reserving airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars, and
other travel related items by travel agents, online reservation sites,
and large corporations.
• The premier global distribution systems are Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre,
and Worldspan. They are owned and operated as joint ventures by
major airlines, car rental companies, and hotel groups. Also called
automated reservation system (ARS).

Indexing
Best Practice for GDS
Make sure that you are loaded and indexed correctly to get your share of the GDS revenue in your market
Travel agents actively book away from hotels not offering rate parity
Agents routinely compare negotiated pricing to BAR and offer clients the best available rate
Value added inclusions are important and drive conversion
Travel agent distribution success is a long term strategy; and not a short term tactic

So What can you do next ?
9/17/2015 18
If you are already with a GDS provider – ask them to send your
information for updating. Ask your account manager for tips and
tricks on Best Practice.
Compare your Yr on Yr figures –
are you growing at the same rate as your Market ?
Do you know what Corporates are booking into your area ?
If you are not yet connected to the GDS – would you benefit from
a share of your Market’s Revenue?
Consider Consortia Participation which would give you more
visability on the Agent Screens.
Talk to us about how Travelclick can help you start working on
the GDS and how you can grow revenues.
Thank you.
