To keep peace throughout the world To develop friendly relations among nations To help nations work together to improve

the lives of poor people, to conquer hunger, disease and illiteracy, and to encourage respect for each other’s rights and freedoms

To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations to achieve these goals.

What Will You Do During Global Classrooms?

Research! You will research the topic of debate, your assigned country and how your

country would address the issue

Make speeches Prepare position papers and draft resolutions Negotiate with allies and adversaries Resolve conflicts! Examples of Global Classrooms topics at New York Conference:

pressing international issues such as the role of women in peace and security, the elimination of racism, the effects of atomic radiation, climate change, sustainability and the challenges of global environmental stewardship.

What Is Model UN? You will learn how the international community acts on

topics such as peace and security, human rights, the environment, food and hunger, economic development and globalization.

You will also research the needs, goals and foreign policies of the countries that you will represent.

Involves you in the study and discussion of global issues and helps to develop skills such as research, writing, public speaking, problem solving, consensus building, conflict resolution and compromise and cooperation.

In the end, only 10 students from each school will be selected to participate at the conference.

October/November: Receive conference country and topic assignments

December/January: Research country topic assignment and its relation to your country.

December to February: prepare Position Paper, one page summary of your country’s background and position on the given topic.

February: Madrid GC Conference. 10 students from each instituto will go to the GC Assembly.

May: Conference in NYC. 10 students from the Madrid Conference will attend.
