the emotional impact required to manifest abundance and prosperity in your life.

VISION WORK empowers you to ask meaningful questions about yourself, your situation and your desires. It sets in motion a shift in attitude, whereby, you can make more precisely focused choices based on being ‘present’, in thought and reflection. It suggests a process of charting choices that produce prosperity and abundance. With it you will be taught to engage your power of decision and navigate through indecision. You will learn to focus on the process of deciding and understand the structure of choice-based behavior that is required to achieve the outcomes you have willingly chosen to benefit yourself and those around you.

We want you to discern that purpose is the primary insight -the meaning of your life. Once you have decided your purpose in life, every thing else becomes clear. Finding purpose is a question of definition and choice. The cosmic purpose for humanity is to discover free will: the ability to choose. It is your mind that chooses the degrees of purpose whether mundane or esoteric. You are a creator. You are the one who manifests the reality of your life. Whether you direct your attention to pleasure or pain, prosperity or despair you have choice and are ultimately responsible for the outcome of your life.

When you have clear intention charged with purpose, you can move forward with the creation of what you want in your life. By giving attention to something, its growth is stimulated. Sunshine nourishes both beautiful flowers and undesired weeds so where your attention is directed is crucial. Intending a future through awareness and conscious choice, focusing on the journey, not the destination, while bearing the outcome in mind will generate abundance and success for which you are the responsible creator.

VISION WORK is a tool developed by Glo Motion intended to guide you through the process of discovering, deciding and declaring your purpose, with clearly established intentions to which you are committed. With it you can achieve your heart’s desires by setting goals that produce specific, measurable, achievable results over time. It is a tool that connects the heart with the mind. It makes manifest thoughts, words and actions that generate passion, enthusiasm and

Introduction

Being aware means paying attention, being present and available; listening; being conscious; being centered. It’s not a doing process and it is certainly not being self-conscious and attached. It’s not about focusing or concentrating, although you can choose to focus and concentrate from the space of awareness. It’s not a doing process in the sense of being active in controlling your environment. It’s about being available. Whatever arises in your mind is allowed and observed or witnessed. Awareness indicates that you are the observer and are no longer attached to the activity of your mind.

In this program we talk about awareness being the key to transformation. It’s the basis for the process that we call discovery. As we begin to make choices with awareness we begin to take responsibility for our lives. We start the process of establishing ourselves. We are available. Only those who are available and present have the ability to respond. If you are not aware, present and available in your own life, you cannot respond. You can only react. How do you become aware? How do you awaken? In the beginning it is the pain or discomfort brought on by your current lifestyle or behavior that gets your attention. Some form of breakdown, congestion, collision or even disease brings about your awareness of the state of your affairs. At that point you have created the opportunity to take responsibility for your current situation and respond to the challenge, learn from it, grow, mature and transform.

When you are absent, you have literally abandoned and betrayed yourself. You may look to food, alcohol or drugs for relief from your discomfort, not realizing that you are the source of your discomfort. You search for any form of amusement or entertainment that will take you away from the experience of who you truly are. You become unavailable and distracted. You begin to live your life stressed, frightened and absent. You forget that being available means being present in the moment and receptive to everything that is available to you in the universe. You have become a 'distraction junkie'.

Do you use this circumstance to perpetuate your pattern of denial and suppression for the purpose of attracting a greater pain or breakdown? It is up to you to determine when you

Awareness is the key to transformation. Being aware of who you are, your actions and habits, and what you believe and assume to be your truth or reality gives you your true starting point. The moment you become aware and identify your illusions and attachments, you become liberated. This discovery leads to your release and liberation from illusions and you begin to allow things to be as they are.

Awareness

have had enough discomfort as a result of your behaviors of absence and personal betrayal. It is up to you to decide when it’s time to show up, take responsibility and “BE THE CHANGE."

Once you have had an awakening, setting the intention to be present and available allows you to start practicing being aware and mindful. You may start with meditation, focus and concentration exercises, conscious listening, visualization or any other technique that brings your attention into the present moment. One of the most important decisions you can make in your life is to be present. Once you set the intention and commit to showing up for yourself, your journey toward awakening and eventual continuous enlightenment has begun.

You are far more than your self-image, superior and inferior. You are a divine being, profound and beautiful. You possess the ability to access your divinity, allowing you to shine as the radiant light you truly are. You may learn to enjoy yourself, not your self-image, your true self. It is time for you to realize and release your attachments and dependencies; be truly liberated. Begin to show up for you. Be in touch with yourself.

Unattached Observation

The purpose of unattached observation is to experience the divine nature or power within us.

The purpose of the Fully Alive system is to achieve a state of tranquility, mindfulness and awareness, to pay attention or to be the “witness." It is not a goal or something to strive for nor is there anything to be achieved. It is simply a practice of being available and present for all of life’s experiences. When practicing unattached observation, you simply choose to be available and witness life without attaching meaning to your perceptions. You become a silent observer who does not judge or categorize.

As in all forms of yoga, the purpose of unattached observation is to be “present." When you are present you have the ability to choose. So when, on the one hand, an opportunity, such as a disturbance, or any form of challenge presents itself, you are capable of responding and choosing how to act. On the other hand, when you are absent or distracted, you are preoccupied and attached and you have no choice. Your only recourse is to react.

Unattached observation improves concentration. It also promotes inner-relaxation, allowing us to more easily understand ourselves, and others. Unattached observation allows us to manage the daily disturbances in our lives quietly and peacefully.

4

There are many ways you can practice unattached observation. It may be practiced in your favorite asanas, or in a comfortable sitting position. You can also practice while sitting in a chair or taking a walk. Some people choose to practice lying on their backs. The point is to be present and comfortable so you are not distracted by any discomfort.

In the Fully Alive system, you practice unattached observation in motion. As you practice mindfulness by paying attention to anything that you are experiencing, such as exercising, your breath, the way your body touches the ground, the body part that contracts and expands at your command, your thoughts, and/or anything that comes to your mind, you pay attention without becoming attached or distracted. If you do become distracted you simply come back to your center, which may be your breath, your belly, or anything else you choose as a point of reference.

My favorite analogy for unattached observation is the story of the puppy and its master. When the master wanted to housebreak his puppy he put out a piece of newspaper. The first time the puppy eliminated in the house, the master took the puppy to the paper and explained, with affectionate firmness, that this was where the puppy should go. The puppy did not understand this rule to begin with, but the master persisted and every time the puppy would go, the master would take it to the paper, never scolding or threatening the puppy, only directing and encouraging it. In time the puppy discovered the paper, and from then on he knew where to go.

When you practice, you are likely to get distracted. Don’t be discouraged. Just bring your awareness back to the “paper" or to your center. With affection and firmness, relieve your-self of your attachments. Gradually, your awareness will learn where to go and be.

5

The ability to respond is one of life’s greatest opportunities. The ability to respond means you are able. The opposite behavior is to be reactive or disabled. When you take responsibility, you are no longer reactive, compulsive and attached. You no longer attract or create by default. When you are respons-able you have ultimate leverage.

In life, you are either able or disabled by choice (conscious or unconscious). You have the opportunity to take responsibility for your choices and decisions. You have the ability to respond when you are available and present. The ability to respond is not available when you are absent attached and distracted. Once you take responsibility for your choices, then you have an identity, a purpose and a vision; you proceed to intend your destiny.

When you take absolute responsibility for yourself, you become the creator or the maker of your destiny. You intend your future according to your wishes and desires. This allows you to organize your thoughts and direct your energies into pathways to success.

Once your intentions are clear and committed, the blueprints can be drawn and executed. You can then direct your energy to any aspect of your life, health, relationships, business or prosperity. You now have the power of choice at your fingertips and since you are the creator, your wishes are now commands. The energies of the universe begin to collaborate in a synchronized manner to fulfill your deepest desires.

Victim consciousness is deeply ingrained in many of us. We must accept complete and total responsibility for our lives in order to change.

You transmit who you are into the world (energy field) and people consciously or unconsciously recognize who you are and what you want through those transmissions. If you treat yourself with respect, other people will. If you treat yourself with disrespect,

Responsibility is the foundation for deliberate attraction and manifestation. By being response-able you become the pilot and navigator of your life journey. If you decide not to take responsibility for your life journey, you are likely to be a reluctant, dependent and tormented passenger. The moment you choose to take responsibility, you gain access to free will: your birth-right. You become a deliberate creator and attractor.

6

Responsibility

other people will. You are the creator of how you choose to be treated. You literally teach, train and direct people in how you want to be treated.

It is imperative that you take responsibility for what you are projecting and transmitting in order to influence your life and the lives of others, deliberately and positively. Embracing the assumption of responsibility gives you back your power, freeing you from your role as a victim of circumstance.

Truly believing that you are the creator of all that you encounter and taking responsibility for your actions and the actions of others toward you is an empowering proposition. Seeking approval, being attached to people’s opinions of you, or being dependent in any way, shape or form is a mechanism and a manipulation. Consciously or unconsciously, you use these dependencies and attachments to relinquish you power and justify how you feel, good or bad. When you refuse to take responsibility for how you feel, you then look to someone else to blame and be accountable.

Thus, you are manipulating reality into a suitable illusion so you may justify your disempowerment and self-pity. You give up and dismiss your power, holding someone else responsible for how you feel.

Awareness allows for discovery. Responsibility allows for recovery. Until you recover from your illusions and establish a presence, you cannot be empowered. You must take responsibility for where you are, how you feel and what you are attracting into your life. The moment you become response-able, you recover yourself, your spirit, your dignity, your self-respect, and your faith. You now have faith in yourself and when you have faith in yourself, you have faith in others and faith in the process of life.

7

Forgiveness: A powerful tool for transformation

What does forgiveness mean? The dictionary says: To grant pardon for remission of (something); to cease to blame or feel resentment against; to remit, as a debt; to absolve, exculpate, excuse, exonerate.

Forgiveness is a process of letting go of the past. It enables you to let go of the pain or the reasons and the excuses that you use to feel sorry for yourself. When you continually blame yourself or others for the state of your affairs, moving through life as a victim, you are actually victimizing yourself. If you refuse to forgive yourself, a hidden agenda is created to argue for your limitations and paralyze your ability to be productive and take responsibility for your life. If this reflects your behavior, it is obvious that you do not consider yourself worthy or deserving of success and happiness.

Forgiveness is a decision and a choice. As soon as you choose to relieve yourself and break away from the patterns and habits of holding onto self-blame and blaming others, then you are relieved and forgiven. You clear a space in your life. The ability to embrace something new, to take something different into your life and to look at things from a different point of view becomes a reality. In order to take responsibility, you must forgive yourself. Change cannot be forced. Change can only be suggested or intended and then compassionately encouraged at the rate allowed by your own feeling of worthiness.

Each of us is capable of undercutting or punishing ourselves with self-pity. Although it is hard for some to admit, self-pity is common among the human race. It is a significant burden that drains our energy and dissipates our strength. Any form of disappointment, blame, regret or impatience (the resistance to what is) is self-pity and is the most devastating relinquishment of energy and personal power. The more intensely or powerfully you feel sorry for yourself, the more attached and powerless you become. Self-pity is the ultimate form of self-betrayal and self-abandonment.

As long as you judge, blame or curse anyone or anything, including yourself, you are not ready and willing to be present and accountable. If you have any remorse or regret, you will not be able to be present and accountable and able to take responsibility for what you have attracted or repelled in your life.

When you are using anger and bitterness to justify your self-pity, you have limited your

8

Forgiveness

ability to achieve prosperity to the degree that you live in lack and despair. The impact of personal betrayal from self-inflicted tyranny and other types of abuse is a heavy load to carry. It can only result in diminished productivity and a self-image that repels prosperity and attracts scarcity and anguish.

To forgive is to release and relieve. Until we forgive ourselves, we remain attached to past incidents that foster ill feelings. The notion of someone else having the power to forgive us was planted when we were quite small. Our mothers or fathers, in their effort to properly raise and socialize us, chose to say, "I forgive you." At the time, those were wonderful words. But they implanted a sense of obligation, indebtedness and dependency. If I, today, speak the words, "I forgive you," they can only come from a place of arrogance because I do not have the ability nor the power to release you from your attachment to whatever has been said or done. Only you can release your own attachment.

You can only forgive yourself, you cannot forgive others and others cannot forgive you. However, when you truly forgive yourself and relieve yourself of attachment to the past, you have energetically relieved others and encouraged accomplices to do the same. As you do this, you relieve others from being psychological hostages to your perception that they are responsible for how you feel.

Personal forgiveness is essential for your own growth and success. Once you relieve yourself of the toxicity inflicted on your body by anger and victimization, your energy resources will restore themselves and your productivity will increase.

The moment you decide to forgive yourself, you have liberated yourself from attachments and dependencies. You are allowing yourself to take responsibility for your life; you are able to respond, which is the meaning of being responsible. You are now in a position to allow yourself to receive and accept prosperity.

It is important to recognize that until you forgive yourself by releasing and letting go of attachments to the past, you are not in a position to be fully present and response-able. The release of emotional attachments empowers you to consciously use your newly liberated energy. It gives you the attention to intend your future by deciding your purpose and choosing what it is that you want or desire. Desire is the seed of creation.

Forgiveness is a decision and a choice. As soon as you choose to relieve yourself and break away from the patterns and habits of holding onto self-blame and blaming others, then you have forgiven. You clear a space in your life. The ability to embrace something new, to

9

take something different into your life and to look at things from a different point of view becomes a reality.

When you forgive yourself you no longer run from one unintentional act to another. Your pattern and/or habit of living by default is finished. You have taken responsibility for yourself and your life. You are now choosing to be proactive.

There is nothing you can do about your past actions, however, you can change your perceptions of your actions in the past. Your perspective of yourself in the now determines how you feel about your past experiences. If you are at peace with yourself in the now, your journey is justified. If you do not have peace of mind, your journey is filled with regrets and remorse. As a result, you feel disappointed, powerless and victimized.

Only when you take complete responsibility for yourself, are you ready to intend your future by deciding your purpose and then choosing what it is you want or desire.

10

Do you have clear intentions that you are committing to, or are you indecisive and illusive about your desires? What are your goals? Are your goals in harmony with nature and humanity?

The most important decision you will ever make in your entire life is to decide what you want. Decide what it is you want, plant your goal in your mind, care for it, and work steadily toward it and it will become a reality.

The act of intending your future is a necessity if you are living a life in which events and circumstances feel out of control. You may feel as if life is happening to you. We call this living by default.

There is no secret to learning to take control of your life. It is simple. When you have no purpose; when you do not know where you are going; when your thoughts are overflowing with fear; you experience a life filled with confusion, anxiety and worry. When your purpose is clear and you begin to intend your future, life is no longer happening to you, you are creating a life by design.

Remember, if you do not know where you are going, any road will take you there!

Ask yourself the following questions: - Are you aware of your reason for being on this planet? - Have you decided and taken responsibility for your purpose? - Are you intending your life? - What is your vision? - What are your deepest desires? - What inspires your actions? - Do you want to prosper and thrive or merely survive? - Are you practicing gratitude?

The intention of VISION WORK is to restore balance and harmony to the mind, body, spirit, emotions, family and finances so that you can approach life in an inspired, intentional, purposeful way. When you have a clear and defined purpose, you have established the foundation for achievement and prosperity.

11

Purpose

As you consider these questions, realize that you may not be able to stop thinking, but you can certainly decide what to think about. When you think positive, inspired thoughts, you are creating expansion and opportunity. When you have negative, fear based thoughts, you are creating a destructive and diminishing space filled with doubt and despair.

Decide and Choose:

Decide and choose are the two most powerful words in the dictionary. Every detail of your life depends on decisions and choices. In fact, your entire life depends on your ability to decide and make choices. Until you decide to choose, you are powerless. If you choose not to make decisions or choices in your life (living by default), they will be made for you.

Not deciding is a decision in itself. Indecision is a source of energy leakage and causes indigestion and what we call “confustipation.” Consider the process of digestion. The body metabolizes inputs like food, experience, feelings and actions and transforms, assimilates, and integrates them as vital nutrients at a cellular level, while disposing of waste byproducts. Considering the highly interactive relationship between spiritual, psychological and physical processes in the body; we think it appropriate to refer to the way the body processes our experiences as metabolizing the experiences of life. Confustipation is the inability to metabolize those experiences. Therefore, when you decide not to decide, the first thing that happens is that you relinquish your power and defer to others, bringing about personal betrayal, debilitation, and disempowerment. The second most depleting acts are procrastination, lying and evasiveness. These acts of abandonment and self-betrayal drain energy from your life. The third act of energy depletion is disappointment. When you become disappointed you are resisting what is in the now and you catapult yourself into self-pity and victimized powerlessness.

When you have clear purpose and intention you are encouraging the creation of what you want in your life. By giving attention to something, its growth is inspired and encouraged. When you choose decisively you become able and expansive. That expansion allows for circulation that then stimulates and reverses the process of confustipation and generates transformation and growth.

When you begin to organize your thoughts for a specific purpose you are taking responsibility for manifesting your destiny. Any particular thing or object that you put your mind to will begin to materialize at a rate equivalent to the emotional intensity of your concentration or focus. Deciding what you want becomes imperative since the vibration or the frequency of your thoughts does not discriminate between negative thought patterns and positive thought patterns. This is one more reason why being available or present for your life and thought patterns is so important.

12

Hidden Agendas: self-defeating patterns

The task at hand is to recognize the hidden agendas that are subconsciously lodged in your belief system. These are the operational routines that cause pain, discomfort and disempowerment. Hidden agendas become manifest as fear-based scarcity consciousness and although you may know how your self defeating behavior holds you back from achieving your stated desires and goals, you are powerless to override them. The first step is becoming aware of your hidden agendas and then taking responsibility for the fact that you have allowed your hidden agendas to run your life.

You feed your hidden agendas through avoidance and denial. Avoiding reality and discomfort in your life through distractions powerful enough to hold your attention and keep you preoccupied and absent does not eliminate your pain; it only suppresses and feeds it. Hidden agendas run underneath the current from which we operate. If we move through life unaware, we rarely see the hidden agendas at work. We must begin to look within and recognize the patterns and habits we have grown attached and accustomed to.

In reality, your life is a string of continuous habits and patterns. Health, prosperity, abundance and success are all patterns, just as illnesses, poverty, despair and failure are patterns. When you have looked within and reached a state of awareness and responsibility, you can then begin to wield your power, choose and decide. Your ability to decisively respond and create the habits and patterns of fortune you desire is actualized. However, if you refuse to be aware and response-able, you become reactive to life and move forward, dependent and disabled, feeling victimized and unfortunate in every moment.

PURPOSE

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them." - George Bernard Shaw

Purpose is the eternal meaning of life. When I ask someone the question, “What is your purpose in life?" The answer is frequently, “I don’t know"! When my reply to them is: “That’s great! Your purpose for now has been defined". The next question usually is: “What do you mean"? My reply is: “You have free will. You can choose to argue for your limitations or your greatness. If you say that you don’t know your purpose, then by default, not knowing becomes your purpose, and you have given away your power to create and design your life through clear committed intention".

13

Every choice or decision you make, or don’t make, determines the outcome of your life. Purpose is a choice that determines the why of life, the eternal insight.

The purpose of VISION WORK is to discover the reason for your existence on this planet, to declare a vision, to understand what inspires and drives your actions and what it is that you truly long for and desire. This discovery is a process through which you will clarify your intentions and determine your goals in a way that will empower you as the architect of your life. You will literally determine and establish the meaning of your life.

What is your purpose? What is your role in the big industry of life? Whose responsibility is it to determine your purpose or your reasons for living or not living your life fully? What or who drives you? Is the grass greener on the other side? Do you think you will be approved of when you succeed? Does the carrot and the stick method motivate you? Does wanting something keep you distracted and preoccupied so that you can justify your absence and avoidance? Or are you truly inspired?

The discovery of free will is the ultimate collective purpose of Humanity. When you discover free will, the power of choice, you awaken your consciousness and become aware of the awesome ability you have access to as creator. When you recognize that the primary purpose for being on this planet is to discover free will, you can take charge of this awesome ability that empowers you to manifest and create your heart’s desires.

Your secondary purpose is to define your personal purpose, to choose and decide the why, the immediate reason for everything you do or don’t do with your life. This is the big one. By defining your purpose, you give your life meaning. Purpose is the basic requirement for inspiration and for enthusiasm. When you declare your purpose, you are constructing the foundation for creation. You now belong; participate; contribute and receive from the planet.

When your purpose is clear, stated and defined, your life has true meaning and direction. It is by the power of free will that has been given to all of us that you have the opportunity to choose and manifest your destiny.

It is a great moment in your life when you discover free will, it is the moment you assume responsibility for your life and forgive yourself. It is the moment you become creator and you relinquish your identity and behavior as a creature of habit and patterns. You are no longer a dependent “distraction junkie,” attached to the collective tribal consciousness of consumerism and, therefore, no longer consumed. You awaken to your birthright and you

14

assume a role as an interdependent citizen of the planet. You have discovered your collective purpose and established the platform from which to define your personal purpose.

Being a contributor and beneficiary allows you to thrive when your purpose is clear. You achieve personal integration and you are comfortable wherever you are. Your power is established. You are aware and response-able. Your intentions are clear and you are committed to allowing action and insight. You are truly grateful, enjoy life, live fully and prosper.

Assigning purpose is about choosing a meaning for an aspect of life and can be broken down into different categories. Begin practicing assigning purpose to the various aspects of your life, starting with your body, by asking: What is the purpose of my body? What is the purpose of my marriage or primary relationships? What is the purpose of my work? You can subject your life to purpose by default, which is to be enslaved by the mechanisms of consumption, or realize that every aspect of your life is contingent on meaning. You have the power to assign that meaning clearly and in association with your desires and aspirations.

DECLARATION OF INTENT DEVELOPMENT TOOL

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone." From the book 'A Return To Love' (1992) by Marianne Williamson

"It is essential to discover the hidden agenda of your shadow... Your shadow is the aspect of you that wants you to fail and relinquish your personal power. Your shadow is the tyrant that holds you back. We all have a shadow, manifested as the un-forgiven, betrayed and abandoned parts of ourselves. The best way to recognize your shadow is to observe behaviors and traits you judge or dislike in other people. This reveals your shadow and it is the reflection of your attachments. For example, the intention of my shadow is "to destroy my world by being separate, dead, disconnected, inauthentic and dishonest. By acknowledging your shadow's intent you place it in the light of awareness. Each time my shadow emerges now it has less power because I recognize its desire to sabotage me, and I have the ability to say NO to it. Just being aware is 80% of the process; it is like being found out. My shadow is disempowered because it is no longer a dirty secret", that is being suppressed and denied. Gradually the shadow is rendered powerless; you are no longer feeding it with resistance and denial. Inspire Newsletter, March 2003, Douglas Brady

Expanding your outlook to encourage Personal Growth

Reflect on the following questions. We encourage you to write down your reflections.

1. Have you identified your shadow? Do you have hidden agendas?

16

2. Do you have limiting, beliefs and doubt about yourself?

3. What do you have invested and what is your attachment to these beliefs?

4. How can you use this assessment as an opportunity for growth?

Becoming response-able and your declaration of intent

When you are absent, you are distracted, reactive and compulsive. A reactive individual is controlled by outside influences. Reactive individuals absolve themselves of responsibility and base their actions on what is happening around them and to them.

When you are present and response-able, you understand that you can choose how to respond in any given situation instead of reacting.

Response-able people develop an internal set of personal values that guide their choices and behavior. Regardless of circumstances and the actions of others, they make choices based on bright, positive self-image and how much they value themselves.

To be response-able, you must define your purpose and the values and principles you choose to guide your decisions and your actions. You must realize that how worthy and deserving you feel is a determining factor in navigating your journey.

17

Think about a situation in your life that you reacted to and see if you can identify the charge associated and what you are attached to defending.

1. What are the stimuli (persons, circumstances, stresses, etc.) that provoked reactive behavior?

2. What are the outcomes of your reactive behavior in this situation?

3. Recognizing that response-able behavior requires a response based on your presence and ability not impulse, how might you respond?

4. What value will the response have? What impact will the response have on changing the situation for you and others?

18

5. What benefits would you reap from your response-able behavior? How would the outcomes differ from the results produced by your reactivity?

6. What is the intensity and emotional charge associated with your reactive behavior? Where does the emotional charge originate? What emotional attachment causes you to defend a point of view? What feelings are stimulated?

Inventory

Am I committed to creating the conditions that support response-able behavior?

1. Do I acknowledge that I am personally responsible for my actions and the results of those actions?

We are what we think and CHOOSE to be.

2. Do I understand the importance of purpose and how I value myself guides my behavior?

19

When you take responsibility for your life; you are able to respond. That is the meaning of being responsible. You are now in a position to allow yourself to receive and accept prosperity.

3. Do I recognize that response-able behavior determines my future?

As you develop the ability to respond, begin to choose behavior that facilitates your desires for the future. Living from imagination instead of past experiences, allows you to see that choices you make today determine the circumstances of tomorrow.

When you are response-able, you take responsibility for your life. You do not blame outside forces for what you do or for what you have or do not have. You know that in the final analysis, your life situation is a consequence of the choices you have made.

Reactivity produces excuses, alibis and explanations. Whatever you choose is what you get.

As you become response-able you experience the satisfaction of producing measurable results and your life is no longer consumed by crisis.

DEVELOPING A DECLARATION OF INTENT, SUPPORTED BY YOUR PURPOSE

The role being response-able plays in intending your future

The way to approach the worthwhile opportunity and challenge called "Intending Your Future" is by first becoming present and aware of the conditions and circumstances you have created or attracted into your life. You may then begin to take responsibility for where you are and how you got there, knowing full well that at the end of the day, your life is an accumulation of habits and/or patterns. Positive, creative behavior leads to success while negative, destructive behavior leads to disappointment and failure.

During this process you must be willing to evaluate your perception of your worthiness, your repetitive behaviors and your attachment to the need for external approval and validation. You may be holding people or circumstances responsible for the events in your life and blaming them for who you are. You must also be willing to look closely at the level to which

20

you react to circumstances in your life. Often, we choose to surrender our own ability to respond and thus relinquish our power. You must be willing to look at how you potentially attract pain or pleasure, happiness or misery, failure or success, prosperity or poverty. If we travel through life depriving ourselves of the choice to feel worthy of success and happiness, we will repel it, not attract it.

The most straightforward and uncomplicated way I know to detect if I am taking responsibility or not is to observe the occurrence of feelings of regret, blame, cursing or judging, myself or others. The charge or the animation that is attached to occasions when those reactions occur is assign indicator of an absence of responsibility. Any form of disappointment or regret is self-pity and it is the most powerful relinquishment of energy and personal power that I know. When you judge, blame or curse anyone or anything, including yourself, or when you have regrets, you are powerless to make realistic decisions and choices because you are not taking responsibility for the outcome of your actions. If this is the reality in which you choose to exist and survive, your decisions and choices are made by default.

The only reason to judge other people is to defend yourself. When you feel a need to defend yourself you are only judging yourself. The reason for that judgment is a desire to rationalize how dependent, deprived and insecure you feel. In this situation you are likely using your criticism of other people to justify your behavior. It is important to understand that if you do not choose to approve of yourself you may have more invested in failure than success.

Deciding and creating your declaration of intent

To be present, aware and in touch with your own reality and to manifest your purpose in life, you must be willing to look deeply and intimately at your life. This series of exercises and processes is very personal. They will require honest contemplation. You must be willing to embark on a journey to unearth the best of what is within you ...all that you desire and decide to be...and what is most important to you. You must be diligent in revealing and uprooting the suppressed energy or experiences that cause despair, frustration and disabling behavior.

These exercises are designed to encourage writing. Writing helps to clarify your deepest thoughts and reveals opportunities and restrictions. By writing your own declaration of intent, you will be creating a tangible reference to keep with you at all times that illuminates your vision and value.

You don't have to figure anything out in this process. It's more about deciding what you intend for yourself at this moment. This exercise is designed to access your deepest desires for this life.

21

To access what lies deep within the unconscious mind, you will be using a process of writing with your non-dominant hand. This may seem frustrating and awkward at first, but trust the process and allow your heart and mind to guide your hand. Don't limit your thinking. Include any and every thing that comes to mind. How I believe the world sees me ………..

How I see myself………

In the course of my life I want to be thought of as ………….

I want to cultivate and nurture these talents and skills……....

I want to remember the moments when……...

I want to be excited and passionate about…….....

I want to bring about …........

22

I want to be……………

I aspire to…………

It is relatively easy to determine what kinds of things we want to HAVE in our lives (material possessions) and what we want to DO (experience) in our lives. To truly define our Purpose, we must discover what we 'will' to BE. What qualities of character are we committed to developing? What kind of a person do we want to be known as? Focusing on the qualities of character, write about the following:(If you feel compelled to continue the path of discovery you have explored while using your non-dominant hand, continue to do so. If you feel ready to return to using your dominant hand, then do so.)

What do I want to BE?

What do I want to DO?

What do I want to HAVE?

Values and Principles

A most important part of your declaration of intent is defining your self-selected values and principles.

23

Values are defined as -- A standard or principle considered important in life. Principles are defined as -- A guide to action or behavior; A personal code of right conduct. Our values and principles guide us in making proactive choices that facilitate our Purpose and give us a personal code by which to base our actions.

Using a highlighter pen, review the exercises you have completed so far. Highlight the values and principles you see illuminated in your responses. Once highlighted, make a list of these values and principles. Review them and add any that you feel are missing from your list. The First Draft of My Personal Declaration of Purpose

Review your journal and become aware of the values, principles and desires that have been illuminated. Once you feel you have a clear vision of what is of value to you, what you desire for your life, and the person you aspire to be, write a rough draft of your Declaration of Purpose.

Be the Change

When we begin to truly LEAD our lives, when we decide what our purpose is and begin living with clear intention, something profound happens; we naturally begin to influence and lead by example. We affirm and encourage others to become unattached and achieve their aspirations.

Most individuals derive validation of who they are and what they are capable of from the perspectives that others relay to them. The vision, or lack of vision that they have for them-selves is based on history rather than imagination. When we live from our history, we are living what has been. When we live from our imagination, from our vision, we begin living what we desire and can be.

24

Becoming a transition person means that once you begin to live your Mission, you can then help others develop a positive vision for their lives as well. You can become an inspiration to others, showing that they too have the internal resources to manifest their deepest desires.

How do we give guidance to those who do not have vision? We live our vision. We become what we aspire to be. We take on the role of mentor. We support others in their most cherished endeavors. We inspire others to take on challenges. We encourage them. The positive impact we have on the lives of others will be measurable. The lives we will touch and the help we will give can all become a treasured part of our journey.

The Personal Declaration of Purpose

The Purpose Statement is a written document that serves the individual by giving direction and clarifying choices. The Purpose Statement provides a clear understanding of what purpose you serve and your operating values and principles.

Creating an understanding of your purpose, your values and your principles begins first in the mind and the imagination, then manifests physically through words and actions. Quality results flow from clearly defined intentions. By contrast, poorly defined intentions tend to produce poor outcomes that come about slowly and require more work than is necessary. The process of creating your Personal Purpose Statement provides you with a vehicle to clearly define your purpose, intentions, values and principles. It defines a path and acts as a catalyst to harness the creative forces necessary to realize your desires and goals.

INTEGRITY

Establish your worth!

How you feel about yourself shapes and filters your self-expression. Therefore, how you feel about yourself determines what you attract into your life. Your values are important but how much you value yourself becomes the essence of how you present and express yourself in the world. The how of self-presentation and self-expression might also be termed as your projection. The presented or projected, self-image is both a statement and an invitation. It is a statement about who you are and how you value your self. It is an invitation to the people and experiences that will somehow resonate with your projection. Your projection comes from the light or the transmission of energy that radiates from the core of your being. However,

25

this radiation is shaped and filtered by the self-image/self-concept. It is this that determines what and who an individual will attract into his/her life out of the field of infinite possibilities.

Due to the filtering and shaping of your projection, you have selected out of the array of infinite possibilities only those you allow yourself to attract. In truth, you only attract and allow into your lives the people and experiences of which you feel worthy. Your behavior is an expression of how you feel about yourself. How you treat yourself and then others, your posture, how you walk, your language, your ability and availability to listen, your wardrobe and how you nourish yourself are all revealing and clear expressions of how you truly feel about yourself.

If, whether consciously or unconsciously, you harbor guilt, shame or any other negative self-image ideas about yourself, you will seek to justify these beliefs by the quality of experiences you attract and allow in your life. In other words, your life experience will mirror what you expect and your expectation will be shaped by your self-concept. The arrival of the expected experience reinforces the self-concept. This is a closed loop, recycling and reinforcing the degree of worth you assign to yourself. This is 'tough' stuff, but the simple fact is that what you believe to be true about yourself will sooner or later be reflected in the quality of your relationships and the quality of the experiences that surround you. It is in this way that each of us manifests and invites those people and those experiences of which we in fact feel worthy. To some extent, most people tend to rationalize and justify their present state by blaming external factors. This is true, whether they are in poverty and destruction, or experiencing relative prosperity and health. Some call this luck, but luck has nothing to do with it. When our self-image is positive, free of guilt, blame and shame, you will manifest prosperity, love and happiness for yourself and others.

What you believe is what you become. How you perceive yourself determines what you express and transmit into the world. For example, when you doubt yourself, you don't trust yourself. This may stem from past indiscretions but in the present it is a form of self-betrayal and self-abandonment. In actuality, you are proving yourself right. You are not trustworthy because you do not trust.

PURPOSE DRIVEN SYSTEMS HAVE INTEGRITY

One of the key elements of a truly successful and conscientious individual is integrity. When you have integrity, your actions are in line with your values. Achieving goals is never a simple, straightforward task. You implement actions, and then discover they do not work, and implement something else. In other words, your actions are continuously variable and adjusting

26

based on input and feedback. When you operate from clearly defined intentions, your values give consistency and integrity to your choices. When you set and pursue goals without considering your values, you may do things for short-term benefit and damage long-range interests or you may be operating from hidden agendas that which undermine your intentions. When you act with purpose and clearly defined values, you develop the ability to detect the currents of self-sabotaging behavior. Be the change. Integrity is the foundation of effective leadership. In order to lead you must personally make the required changes in your own life in order to have an impact on your circle of influence and your environment. Great leaders are passionate about encouraging people to be respons-able, to be the change and live fully. By assigning purpose you are your own leader and as such, encourage yourself and others to embrace obstacles as challenges and opportunities.

RESOLUTION – YOUR PLEDGE OF INTENTION

We all have free will and it is up to you to take responsibility, decide your purpose and implement the plan for your future. Decide what you want and desire in your own life. Create clear intentions and possess the courage to decide and choose your own destiny.

- Have you taken responsibility for life’s primary purpose?

- Have you decided your personal and professional purpose?

- Are your intentions clear?

- Have you imagined your desired outcome?

- Have you decided on your personal and professional vision?

- Have you chosen your goals?

- Are you fulfilled, happy and grateful?

“If one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams, they will meet with success unexpected in common hours. If you build castles in the air, your work will not be lost. That is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." – Thoreau

It is universally true that people who have clear intention accomplish and enjoy more in all areas of their lives. How you feel about yourself shapes and filters your self-expression. Therefore, how you feel about yourself determines what you attract into your life. Your values are impor-tant but how much you value yourself becomes the essence of how you present and express yourself in the world.

27

You are what you are and where you are because of the choices that you have made during your life. Every choice has an influence on your path in life (cause & effect). Each choice either takes you toward what you want in life or away from your heart’s desire.

Allow the chosen path to unfold. Only those who don't know where they are going are in a hurry. Those who do know where they are going simply allow and do not push. You have purpose and vision. What is needed now is to stay the course with patient and resilient persistence in the thoughts and vision you hold.

How can you accomplish your desired results?

- Be, allow and attract your hearts desire’s

- Be present and maximize your talents fully (be fully alive)

- Have definite purpose and direction in life

- Be passionate when making decisions

- Allow confidence and self-worth

- Be organized and effective

Everyone has individual goals that might be either positive or negative. Only three percent of the people in our society have organized, written goal programs and it has been calculated that 97 percent of those with written plans achieve their goals. PERSPECTIVE

"We become what we think about. Now, it stands to reason that a person who is thinking about a concrete and worthwhile goal is going to reach it, because that's what he's thinking about. And we become what we think about." – Earl Nightingale

Whether you perceive the glass as half empty, half full or overflowing is a matter of perspective that will significantly impact your life and determine its outcome. Whether you see incidents and occurrences as accidents, collisions, breakdowns or opportunities will alter the outcome of your life and the lives of those close to you.

Do you see a problem or do you see a challenge? Is there opportunity in the challenge or is there failure and despair? These are the question you are faced with again and again until you, the creator, empowered by the expression of free will, choose the way you view and perceive the world.

28

The way you view life and the experiences it offers is the single most important factor in processing and metabolizing these experiences. Point of view and attitude originate from the experience, exposure and outcome of your past endeavors. Your attitude and the experiences you have lodged in your emotional bank accounts are the determining factors and anchors that you retrieve in order to color your experiences based on your desires. You are constantly retrieving information that you utilize in all of the given circumstances you encounter to create the requested perspective to justify how you feel.

Looking at it in another way, your perspective is colored, tinted, and finally influenced by your past to the extent you choose to be attached to it. Attached people are always looking for excuses for how they feel and what their circumstances are, so they will seek information out of their past to justify their actions and condition rather than have a unique independent experience in the moment and take responsibility for it. When you are an emotional hostage or slave dependent on external circumstances to justify your existence, you constantly look for reinforcement from your old perspectives. At any given moment the perspective can change based on attitude and therefore the account of the actual occurrence changes based on how you feel or on your attitude when the story is being told.

Perspective is what mystics refer to as 'our illusion', or 'the Maya'. Our belief systems are personalized creations and expressions of these illusions. When you are in the moment, creating from a present state, you are liberated from illusions and you have clear vision. You are response-able and your choice of perspective is determined in the now, not projected by your past. Attitude and perspective are determined by those who have discovered and adopted free will and have assigned purpose to there lives. Your attitude is a powerful choice and influencer.

Perspective is your take on life experiences filtered through your beliefs and values. Perspective is the relative meaning you assign to your experiences. It may have no grounds in reality and reflect the view of your life. The Illusion of Perspectives (projected reality)

Your perspectives, your view of the world around you, is also the way you think. Your mind filters what you see in the world around you and it forms assessments based on these perceptions.

We each have our own perspectives of people, organizations, ethnic groups, political parties, everything...even of ourselves. No two of us have identical perspectives because we all

29

have had different experiences. We may share similar elements to our given perspectives, but there will always be some subtle difference.

Your Perspectives are Limited

Your individual perspectives reveal a view based on your limited experience of the world around you. They are incomplete. As you grow and are exposed to more of the world, your perspectives evolve, change and grow.

Our perspectives have the potential to act as limiting illusions because they do not reflect a complete reality. Because perspectives can be erroneous, they tend to be limiting. Most people create boundaries in various areas of their lives, thinking they cannot pass beyond these boundaries. (Remember the theory that the world was flat)? By choosing to limit their perspectives they lose site of valuable experiences that may lie outside of the boundaries of a limited perspective.

Perspectives of Self

One of the most important realizations you can come to about perspectives is that if you are attached to other people's view of you, you are dependent, attached and therefore pow-erless. If you are dependent and attached to other people's opinion of you, you are a slave and victim. Changing and expanding the perspectives and self-image you have of yourself is the first step to relieving yourself of attachment and moving beyond limitations. If you depend on the approval or validation of others, then you have surrendered your power as creator and assumed a role as victim. If this is the role you have assumed, you may survive and possibly even tolerate your life but you will never thrive. To become familiar with your own perspectives, devote some time thinking through and answering the following questions.

Think of an event or circumstance caused a change in your perspective. What was this event or circumstance?

30

What did you see differently that changed your perspective?

How did this change or expansion in your perspective affect your life?

Dramatic shifts in perspective come from dramatic or even traumatic events. Keep in mind that most often your perspectives evolve and change over time.

Change in Perspectives as Growth and Opportunity

Changes or expansions of your perspective may be viewed as breakthroughs since they often as appear in the form of a new insight or the solution to a challenging problem. When your perspectives change, you begin to move beyond your comfort zone. You may be dealing with new ways of thinking, new ways of seeing, and new ways of being.

A change in your perspective is easier to achieve when you are willing to be open- minded and take risks. If you will consider new ideas freely, be willing to risk making a mistake or looking “foolish", then you can expand your perspective and create growth and opportunity for yourself and others.

When you expand your perspective, you are opening yourself up to whole new worlds. It is like being in a dark room when a light suddenly comes on. The room looks different; you see things you could not see before. The room did not change, only what you are able to see of it. The light may come on instantly, or it may come on slowly...but the final effect is the same: When you see things with new eyes, your world expands.

Major life changes come from changing your perspectives. Imagination provides the

31

opportunity to move beyond your past experiences and into new territory. Imagination is a creative process, a way to explore your creativity. Imagination gives form to ideas, inspiring and propelling them into motion. What you believe about yourself is what you become.

As creators of our own destinies, we have the choice to argue and campaign for our strengths and individual greatness or for our unworthiness and limitations. Either path will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. A respons-able creator chooses to argue for greatness. Whether you are a tyrant or an angel toward yourself, what you believe about yourself will become the basis for how you treat yourself and what you allow yourself to receive and be available to. If you are not creating what you want in your life, then look at your attitude and actions. Attitude and actions are elements of achieving results. They begin with your thoughts and your thoughts begin with conscious or unconscious purpose and intentions. Negative attitudes or actions are reflections of poor and limited self-image. When you change your behavior and start living out your commitments, you then establish faith in yourself. Your attitudes and actions will reflect the change in your perspective.

Thinking determines attitude Expectation has more to do with success or failure than any other factor. If you expect to do well or to do poorly, more often than not you will. People go out of their way to fulfill their expectations. This is referred to as “stinking thinking". If you maintain your clear purpose you will be inspired and enthusiastic.

Do not compromise your integrity

A person with integrity behaves in an ethical manner. Integrity is who you are. It encompasses your whole moral character and guarantees that you do the right thing because it is right, not because it is expedient. Protect your integrity. It is your greatest asset. When you have integrity, you do the right thing and that eliminates guilt. When you have integrity, you have nothing to fear because you have nothing to hide. When you eliminate fear and guilt, you can focus on your goals and quickly get back on track even when unexpected events temporarily derail you.

- Be persistent and resilient - stay the course and never give up.

- Be present, vigilant and open to opportunities.

- Seek the company of your supporters.

- Follow your heart as you use your head to develop your skills and talents.

- Once you are inspired, you can accomplish amazing things.

32

When you operate from clear purpose and inspiration you gain a creative edge. Being present and knowing your purpose gives you added confidence and helps you maintain a positive and productive mental attitude. Achieving your desired goals seems logical to those who are confident and committed. Being of service to others generates happiness and success and a state of worthiness. Stay focused on your goals and intentions and move ahead with the understanding that your time and attention are precious. How you direct these energies is crucial to your desired outcome.

Life is a systematic process. When you put too much food on your plate and consume the meal without chewing or without having clear intention behind the process of nourishing the body, you are likely to get indigestion and gain excess weight.

Like your digestive system, the act of creating and transforming your vision and intent is a systematic process of assimilation, absorption and relief. As with digestion, anything you do requires that you metabolize information, experiences and activities in order to retrieve results. If you don't chew well, then you won't digest well, inhibiting your ability to gain the required nutrients or results from the process. So don’t make the mistake of putting too many tasks on your plate. It will interfere with your assimilation and hamper your growth.

The Language of success

Life or death by language. Are you blessing or cursing, appraising or blaming? Words are the determining factor in whether you feel encouraged or discouraged, inspired or dejected. Words tear you down or lift you up. You are subject to your own language so speak with clear intent in your own presence and the presence of others. Have the intention of informing and encouraging people in a positive way. When people are encouraged, they recognize that they can achieve their vision and desires. Kind encouraging words are like beautiful gifts that echo endlessly.

Words to encourage and improve your life

Your words play a critical role in determining your moods, health and happiness. Here's how to get a better grip on language:

- Positive, encouraging words have a solidifying impact on your life - Well-spoken, well-directed words bring satisfaction - Harsh language cuts, but there is healing in the words of the wise- Worry weighs us down; a cheerful word picks us up

33

- If you have nothing positive to say, don't speak at all - Listen to people whom you respect and admire - The right word at the right time can encourage and inspire - Be selective about people you include in your circle of influence - Use kind, inspiring words with helpful intent and you will build strong relationships - You are what you say BY MATTHEW BUDD, M.D., AND LARRY ROTHSTEIN

FERNANDO FLORES is a Chilean of great intellect and a wide range of expertise, including Western philosophy, computer science, business and organizational behavior and entrepreneurship...In 1973, Salvador Allende, Chile's democratically elected president, died in a bloody coup. Flores, who was then minister of finance, was imprisoned and separated from his wife and five children for three years.

He emerged from jail with a new vision, a new understanding and a new commitment to the fundamental connections between language and actions. As he says, "I never told a victim story about my imprisonment. Instead, I told a transformation story--about how prison changed my outlook, about how I saw that communication, truth and trust are at the heart of power.”

When I first heard Flores speak, he began his lecture with this statement: "In language we build our own identities, our relationship with others, the countries that we live in, the companies we have and the values that we hold dear. With language we generate life. Without language we are mostly chimpanzees."

To demonstrate this, Flores asked the group to repeat what he was about to say in unison and with a deep, loud, whole-body voice (I suggest that you merely read the next lines like a heartfelt prayer):

"Life seems hopeless, bleak even. I have nowhere to turn, no one to turn to. What is more ominous still is that this will never change.

He then asked the group to say the next statement in the same manner:

"Nothing will help. There is no one to turn to. It feels like the almighty has forgotten me. Times are hard. They will not get better. They will probably get even worse, though this is beyond imagination."

34

Flores, as if by magic, had changed the mood of each individual in that room. He demanded, "Do you see that your speaking has changed your body, your mood, your physiology and your possibilities for action. Language has generated a moment of life for you. The action of language changed you like a drug. Even though you rationally knew that this was only an exercise, it happened anyway.”

Vision

You will not actively allow the creation of your vision if you can’t or won’t imagine it.

How to create VISION!

You are a creator! You create and become what you think. You may find it difficult to stop thinking, however, you can certainly choose what to think about. What you think about and where you direct your energy and attention is a choice and a responsibility. Therein rest your opportunities.

It is important that you understand that whether you are conscious and present or unconscious and absent you are still the creator, the only difference is whether you are creating from clear intention and joy or hidden agendas and despair. Once you have chosen to define your purpose, your intentions become clear. You can then direct your thinking and attention deliberately as a response-able and empowered creator.

Core beliefs and assumptions can limit or liberate. Limiting core beliefs are deeply established and rooted in your subconscious and these beliefs grow like undesirable weeds when left unattended. These beliefs are false assumptions of the ego. Your weapons against these internal falsehoods are light, love, compassion and forgiveness. Forgiveness is the primary weed killer.

When your intentions are based on feelings of gratitude and a bright, positive self image, your expectations and desires are based on prosperity. Conversely when you feel guilt, shame and inadequacy your expectations are based on scarcity and despair. It is therefore imperative that you be present and response-able for your thoughts and how you choose to feel about life. Your thoughts are the seeds of your words and actions and your emotions are the charge that energizes, fertilizes and sustains the creation of your vision.

Love, compassion, grace and gratitude are emissaries of light just as fear, jealousy, doubt and self-defeating negative energies correspond to despair, so remember that what you think

35

about will expand and how you feel infuses those thoughts either positively or negatively. If you feel inadequate or infected with fear and despair, this is not a time for visualizing. Vision work is a time for compassion and forgiveness. Put aside negativity in the moment when you begin to intend your future. When you feel compassionate, forgiving and grateful, you may proceed.

You have dreams, define them! List your dreams and desires and review your list frequently. Think about what it is that you want and desire. At the same time, realize that what you think you desire and what you truly desire may not be the same thing. Are your desires your own, or are they based on approval and validation? Are your desires motivated by fear or are they inspired and driven by love and passion.

Decide and choose what you truly desire and acknowledge the opportunities and consequences of that desire. Where will it take you and how will your life and the lives of others be affected?

The ability to receive reveals how deserving you feel. Hidden agendas and patterns of negative expectation impact your ability to be available and ‘allow’ your intentions and desires to be manifested, sustaining your purpose. If your intention is to succeed, then you must reveal and bring to the surface your patterns of resistance and the obstacles to your success.. Is your true expectation to succeed or to fail? What do you truly deserve?

Once you have chosen and accepted your desires as your own and made the decision that you are a worthy beneficiary of those desires, it is time to set clear intentions and take aim. This is where you realize that your choices and decisions determine the outcome of your life and the path toward your destiny is decided.

Ask these questions of yourself so that you may determine your true intentions and also reveal and understand your hidden agendas.

- When I actualize this vision, will I be happy, healthy and fulfilled? - Will my self-image be affected and how will I feel once I have actualized this vision? - Is this vision vivid enough to pursue for a lifetime? - What are the challenges involved, what do I need to overcome in order to make my vision a reality? - Where does this vision come from, is it my vision? - Am I pursuing this vision because it is my heart’s desire? - What can I work on now to enable me to fulfill these visions?- Whom should I seek as counsel or mentor to help me achieve this vision?- Can this vision translate into a measurable goal? - What is the appropriate time line for achieving this vision? - Do I have the knowledge, experience and desire necessary to achieve this vision?

36

Desire precipitates action. To accomplish great things, you must act, dream, plan and believe in yourself. As you formulate your dreams, remember that you must infuse them with action in order to make them into realities. Dreams are nothing but imaginary thoughts until we plan, seize opportunities and act in accordance with them.

Deciding and choosing wisely

How you value yourself determines your decisions. To make your dreams a reality and achieve the balanced success you seek, you must make appropriate decisions. Clear decisiveness is vital to the fulfillment of your visions. Intention, commitment, determination and resilience are the substance and the building blocks of opportunity and success. Defining your purpose will automatically direct your decisions. Desire precipitates action. To accomplish great things, you must envision, plan and believe in yourself. Remember, you are the visionary.

Begin Visualizing

Choose a comfortable spot, a favorite chair or any pleasant location where you can relax and will not be disturbed for at least the next thirty minutes. Now imagine and visualize yourself as someone you admire and respect, for example a favorite athlete, artist, author, actor, or entrepreneur. Feel your energy move into the image of the character you are being and imagine wearing that person’s body/vehicle. Now feel your mind and your heart merge with his or her mind and heart. Begin breathing and feel this new energy that you have adopted as you wear this powerful and creative image.

Choose the location. Where in the world are you? Choose the characters you want around you. Who are they? Are you choosing to be in the present or are you seeing your future? Or maybe you are redirecting and changing your past? Remember, you have all the neces-sary resources at your disposal. Whatever you desire is at your disposal instantly.

Practice and rehearse moving around as you wear this new costume. How does it feel? Do you like the power of ability and choice that exists in your mind’s eye and hands?

Next, infuse the character you are becoming with emotions. Tap into your desires, your deepest longings, bringing all of your senses into play. You must find a way to get excited and thrilled about your vision. See every single detail of your vision in vibrant and positive colors. To encourage and arouse passion, go to a memory of excitement and accomplishment. See your-self reliving those emotions and recall the feeling of those emotions. The emotional intensity and how charged you become will determine the impact and power of your manifestation.

37

When you feel connected to this creative tool, begin to visualize your own life with a fresh approach. Begin with the surroundings, the set for the story that you are about to tell and direct. This is your life and you have unlimited resources to create, build and do anything you can imagine or see in your mind’s eye.

Take out a pen and paper and script your destiny. Write down what you experienced. How you saw yourself. What you really, really wanted in this movie that manifested in your life. You don’t need many words. True magic will take place when you allow it. As long as you have a truthful vision based on a commitment to your purpose, the necessary changes are already happening both within yourself, your surroundings and the people around you.

During your final editing of your script, devote some time reflecting on the following question:

- What is your possible relationship and contribution to the quality of life experienced by present and future generations?

As an alternate method of realizing your desires and vision, you can imagine that you have found the genie's lamp in the sand and when you rub the belly of the lamp your personal genie will appear to grant your wishes. Imagine your wishes materializing before your eyes. When you are ready to take advantage of this exercise, place yourself in the required mindset for receptivity and change. Rub the belly of the lamp and summon the genie who will offer you three wishes.

This exercise is all about choice and will reveal your availability to prosperity and abundance and it will also challenge your ability to make choices. What is it that you truly want and desire? The exercise can be performed again and again until you feel satisfied and in harmony with your requests. It will also challenge you to be creative. Another exercise you can apply is assuming the role of the magician. Visualize yourself as a magician that has the power to manifest anything you desire. Assume that you are wearing your purpose and explore how it feels and fits. Make this a magical moment. You are the creator and architect of your life!

Take your time with these exercises. The more vivid and realistic your visions are, the more excited and emotionally infused you will allow yourself to become. This emotional charge magnifies the frequency and power of your vision.

Create a positive picture in your mind and affirm your vision until it is a part of your fabric. persistent argument for our limitations.

We may lie, steal, cheat and procrastinate and we may constantly make promises to ourselves and to others that we don't keep. When we don't honor and keep our word, the result is that we do not trust or honor others or ourselves. Through this behavior we have proven to others and ourselves that we are absolutely untrustworthy and rightly so because the evidence against us is overwhelming.

Negativity and fear is a prevailing emotion in most of our lives. So we don't have to attract these emotions into our life because they already exist. What we want to attract into our lives is love, prosperity and positive energy, while at the same time, making ourselves available to receive that energy. When we honor our commitments, we are showing up in life and taking responsibility in the present moment for the clear purpose of intending our future.

In reality, there is only one negative emotion and that is fear. Fear is always based on self-doubt. Self-doubt, self-betrayal, unworthiness, self-loathing, self-tyranny and any expression of self-denial and personal abandonment are feelings and emotions that grow out of fear. These negative emotional states are often contributing factors to our inability to keep our word. When we act out of fear (not keeping our word) the limitations we have set for ourselves are justified and proven. Thus, our self-worth decreases and we have a justifiable excuse for our self-defeating behavior.

Perceived value is not the determining factor here; rather, the value we give ourselves (self-worth) is what makes or breaks us. Have you asked yourself what your value is? Do your actions match this value?

Your self-image is reflected by your opinion of yourself. When you live into your commitments, when your behavior is one of compassion, truthfulness and service, your self-image is a bright reflection. When your behavior is reactive and fueled by fear, procrastination and

Keeping Commitments: The truth and nothing but the truth.

The single most important reason that we are afraid in life and/or afraid of life is that we simply don't trust ourselves. Why don't we trust ourselves? Because we have proven to ourselves again and again that we are not to be trusted. How? By constantly breaking our commitments, by personal betrayal, abandonment, personal denial and the ever-so-constant and

39

Commitment

untruthfulness, your self-image is dulled and depressed. This behavior (habit and/or pattern) is a reflection of your perceived worth, which guides all of your actions in the world. If you desire to increase your value (the opinion we hold of ourselves), you must begin to make commitments to others and yourself and then live with them.

If you say you will be at a given place at 9:00am and arrive at 9:45 am, then you have broken your word. This may not seem like a big deal but on a subtle level, you know that you have damaged your word and your self-image will reflect this. Stretched over the span of a lifetime, you can begin to see a clear picture of the importance of keeping your commitment to your self-worth and all it encompasses. Integrity is intrinsic whenever we talk about commitment. Integrity is the glue that holds the Universe together. It means being whole, undivided and complete. It is steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. Having integrity is what unifies and centers us and connects us to humanity and all existence. To be integrated means to be fully established and unified. Integrity is at the heart of Glo Motion.

Until there is commitment there is always ineffectiveness, which is the main ingredient of procrastination. Procrastination is the most powerful and illusive act of personal betrayal since we are not aware of how it registers and diminishes our self-worth as it chips away at our emotional constitution. When we procrastinate, we are subconsciously punishing ourselves for our untruthful behavior and own personal betrayal, so we may live into our prophecy and the argument we make for our limitations, in order to prove ourselves right.

When you establish faith in yourself, you are no longer dependant on whatever illusion or story you create and attach yourself to. The way to establish faith in yourself is by taking responsibility and recovering your power. By liberating your attention and detaching from the habits and patterns you use to justify who you are, by taking responsibility for every aspect of your life, by letting go of destructive behavior (lying, denying, abandoning), your life begins to change. When you begin to keep your word and live into the commitments you make to yourself and others, your self-worth increases automatically; your value changes and so does your life.

When you establish your faith within yourself, you will have faith in others and in the miracle of life. The way to establish your faith is simple. It may not always be easy, since you have created powerful habits and patterns of behavior that you are often passionately attached to. But it is absolutely achievable.

your body posture, the timber of your voice and your breathing patterns. In essence, you are projecting your expectations. The self-image filter also shapes your perception and understanding of the world around you by selectively acknowledging those elements that are consistent with how you feel about yourself and how you wish to see things. In fact, there are a number of controlled studies confirming that people will see what they need to see in order to support their view of themselves and of the world. It has been documented that people may even go so far as to unknowingly invent perceptions that do not exist, while objective observers could not see the same.

To summarize, the self-image is like a two-way mirror through which you project as well as receive information about yourself and the world. The filtering and shaping process of the self-image determines how and what you perceive as well as what you project and transmit into the infinite range of possibilities in the universe. You attract the experiences and the relationships that match or resonate with your projection whether consciously or unconsciously. There is truth in the old saying: "Birds of a feather flock together." In other words, what you give is what you get. This is something more than a self-fulfilling prophecy. It is what is called the law of cause and effect, referred to by some as "karma".

Self-judgment, blame, and abuse typically come from feelings of unworthiness. When you judge yourself, or in any way punish or tyrannize yourself, you are abandoning and betraying yourself. This may not be conscious and you may attempt to hold others responsible by blaming them or judging them for how you feel. However, when you blame and judge others you are, in fact, seeking to defend yourself. This is a clear indication of your inner self-doubt or perhaps feelings of guilt to begin with. Defensiveness is always a cover for some feared inadequacy, real or imagined.

If you are abusive and tyrannical toward yourself, you will attract abuse and tyranny. However, when you forgive yourself and become compassionate and respectful to all, you will attract love, prosperity, health and happiness. It is not possible for you to love others more than you love yourself.

You will create your self-image or self-concept according to how you truly feel about your self (which is your level of self-esteem). Your self-image should not be confused with your essence as a person. The self-image is rather like a costume that you wear as you present yourself to the world. The self-image or self-concept functions as a filter and shapes what you allow, or how you want to be perceived by others and yourself. This projection shows up in things like

42

Advancement

Establish your worth!

How you feel about yourself shapes and filters your self-expression. Therefore, how you feel about yourself determines what you attract into your life. Your values are important but how much you value yourself becomes the essence of how you present and express yourself in the world. The how of self-presentation and self-expression can be termed your projection. The presented or projected, self-image is both a statement and an invitation. It is a statement about who you are and how you value yourself and it is an invitation to those persons and experiences that will somehow resonate with the projection. Your projection comes from the light, illumination or transmission of energy that radiates from the core of your being. However, this radiance is shaped and filtered by the self-image/self-concept process. It is this latter process that determines what and who you will attract into your life out of the field of infinite possibilities.

Due to the filtering and shaping of your projection, you have selected out of the array of infinite possibilities only those you allow yourself to attract. You only attract and allow into your life the people and experiences of which you feel worthy. Behavior is an expression of how you feel about yourself. How you treat yourself and then others. Your posture, how you walk, your language, your ability and availability to listen, your wardrobe and how you nourish yourself are all revealing and clear expressions of how you truly feel about yourself.

What you believe is what you become. How you perceive yourself determines what you express and transmit into the field. For instance, when you doubt yourself, you don't trust yourself. This may stem from past indiscretions, however in the present it is a form of self-betrayal and self-abandonment. In actuality, you are proving yourself right. You are not trustworthy because you cannot trust yourself to be here now and to show up for yourself.

Try this on for size. If you are not successful, prosperous and happy, it has nothing to do with external factors; the economy, other people's approval of you, or anything else that you might use to rationalize or excuse your current situation. Those excuses support a self-generated illusion of being a victim of circumstances. The illusion is used as a reason to procrastinate, to justify your powerlessness and to feel sorry for yourself. Whenever you play the victim, you are fostering an imaginary world, an illusion. When you permit yourself to maintain that illusion, you become a participant in a conspiracy to justify your feeling of deprivation, or to blame or to hold other people and circumstances accountable for how you feel. We call this behavior, when it is unconscious, "psychic guerrilla warfare" against the self. Engaging in psychic guerrilla warfare generates the fantasy that you now have an advantage over those whom you fear would cause you pain. But the truth is that sooner or later you will have victimized yourself. This type of thinking and behavior has a boomerang effect. What goes around comes around.

43

Metabolizing

To metabolize means to transform, to digest, to assimilate, to integrate nutrients at a cellular level while disposing of waste byproducts. Considering the highly interactive relationship between spiritual, psychological and physical processes in the body, you can think of the way you respond to your life as metabolizing the experiences of life. It is by fully metabolizing the experiences of life, the good and the bad that you internalize the possible lessons as well as other nutrients, while disposing of the waste byproducts.

Your ability to receive and metabolize success, happiness and prosperity is neither random nor accidental. It is based on self- perception and on believing in yourself and your ability to trust and rely on yourself for consistency and honesty. Your faith in life will always be equal to the faith that exists within you. That faith is determined by the trust within your self that comes from constructive behavior patterns. You know you are to be trusted because you keep your word, not just to others but to yourself.

Your ability to trust and rely on your self must be established. Why established? You cannot restore something that has not been established. Trust cannot be established unless one is fully present. Until you are fully present and available in your own life, at each given moment by choice, you are not fully available to receive, absorb and metabolize life's opportunities. Discerning the truth from the lie, and the healthful from the toxic, requires that you be fully present and available to the moment.

To further understand what it means to be present, you may need to examine what it means to be absent and unavailable in your own life. The simplicity of this notion can cause you to miss the point. If in your heart of hearts or in your 'gut, you feel truly worthy you will be available and will fully welcome opportunities for abundant love, health, happiness and prosperity. On the other hand, if for whatever reason you don't trust yourself to handle or to create so much potency you will find or invent, some way to avoid the challenge. It may be that you simply don't feel worthy, since some of your past experiences with abundance have caused you more trouble and discomfort than pleasure. Do you know someone who walked away from a great opportunity, a great love, or a great job, simply because they doubted their ability to metabolize such abundance, or simply believed they didn't deserve, or were not worthy of such prosperity?

We don't have to, and really can't measure the degree of our presence. But our absence is measurable. The degree to which you hold on to your attachments from the past in the form of regret, remorse, guilt, if onlys, buts, shoulds or coulds, demonstrates the degree of your absence.

44

The emotional charge invested in each of these is a dead give-away of the degree of your attachment and absence. If you have any regret, that regret is an indication of your degree of absence. The moment you release the past and forgive yourself, letting go of those might have been different thoughts is the moment that you will regain that lost energy. This is when you will detach from self-pity and the powerlessness that comes from holding onto regrets and resentments.

The idea of being mentally or psychologically absent, distracted, preoccupied or unavailable is an abstract notion to most people. To be "absent" simply means that you have left or abandoned your self in the current moment. For you to be absent means that you may be physically here, but your mind-psyche is elsewhere. This might be a deliberate choice to avoid a present discomfort. Perhaps it is more comforting to relive some part of the past or to abandon the present in favor of some fantasy version of the future.

Some people have never experienced being fully present in the moment. If you are not present, you have gone elsewhere in your mind, so you are not here! When we as individuals are absent in our own lives, we are consequently absent from everything else. How does this happen? Well, it may begin innocently, for instance: distraction, lack of concentration, inability to focus, or listen, the avoidance of discomfort and pain, whether emotional or physical, betrayal of self, or personal abandonment, reluctance to commit or simply being unavailable because you don't feel worthy of success. People choose to distract themselves in a variety of ways. A delightful movie, an engaging book, or even afternoon naps are three common examples. However, the forms of distraction that are of concern are those that may be more subtle, and perhaps more potent, in terms of taking you away from the path of personal spiritual unfolding into a life that is fully present and fully alive.

It is reasonable to ask yourself, "How do I distract myself?" Which of your distractions are conscious? Which are unconscious, yet are established as patterns? Many people remain unconscious as they eat, or drink, or smoke, or drive. It can be argued that everybody is in some stage of sleep, twenty-four hours a day. The proof lies in simply observing what drivers do with their hands and eyes during rush hour traffic on Los Angeles freeways! To be present requires that you wake up!

A moment of epiphany jolts you to attention, to attending to the present. Showing up.

Being present doesn't mean you never abandon or leave yourself or the current moment. It means that you are aware and responsible. It means that your clear and committed intention is to be present and available to energetic abundance. To be present means that you practice

45

and exercise your ability by showing up for yourself again and again, until being present becomes the norm, rather than being absent or engaged in some form of sleepwalking.

As long as you cling to the past, whether by holding resentments or by playing the 'if only' game, you are not in the present. Similarly, when you focus your attention on the future, you are not in the present. A similar comparison may be made between motivation and inspiration.

Motivation is:

Always fear based. Always attached to some outcome. Always is an effort to move away from the pain of the past, or toward the illusion of pleasure in the future.

To operate out of motivation is to be constantly absent.

In contrast, inspiration comes from being creatively present in the moment. Your intention must be to come into inspiration.

You create through the thoughts you embrace and nourish in the present moment. This is an example of the relationship between 'cause and effect.' Every thought has a precursor. And every thought and every action is followed by some effect, or consequent result.

Awareness is the key to transformation. It is important to remember that awareness is always a choice. Shakespeare phrased this notion with simplicity: "To be, or not to be..." Choosing to be consciously present in the moment is the issue. When you are present, you are able to observe and to choose your thoughts. This consciousness positions you to become a deliberate creator. Watching or witnessing your thoughts, you have become present in your life. You are now accountable, knowing that everything you give attention to, deliberately or not, will become your creation.

Within this existence, you attract into your life what you will experience. You are ultimately responsible for everything in your life. It is not what happens to you, but what you do with what happens that matters. It might be complicated to unravel all of the threads of a given circumstance. A less complicated approach is to say that, whether consciously, or unconsciously, you put yourself either into those circumstances, or "in their way." You have attracted all your experiences consciously or unconsciously, knowingly or not, deliberately or by default. What you do with these circumstances will powerfully effect the rest of your life.

46

You can choose to consciously process, digest, metabolize and retrieve from you experiences or you can choose to become victimized and "congested."

When you choose to make yourself a victim, you become unable to process or metabolize the experience and thus you are unable to let it go. You become psychologically blocked by the attachment that you have not relieved or let go of. When you process or metabolize such circumstances, you learn. You can choose to make each circumstance a deposit in your personal 'wisdom bank.' The difference between the coward and the hero is indecision. Indecision comes from being absent. Indecision is itself a choice, choosing not to be present!

Each of us is a magnet. With some dispassionate objectivity, it is possible for most people to detect patterns in their lives, usually in their relationships. With reflection, it is possible to see how the things that you have experienced have been preceded by your thoughts. Everything you think about, or give attention to will dictate and determine what you attract into your life. You can set into motion a downward or an upward spiral within your thoughts and the qualities of experience to which you make yourself available. Whether you think about positive or negative things, you are attracting what you are thinking about into your life at that time.

Whatever you give attention to grows and flourishes. Whether you think about something you want or don't want, you are still attracting it. When you infuse those thoughts with emotion, you have multiplied the effects.

Every detail of your life, in fact, your entire life itself, depends on your ability to decide and make choices. Present day myth would suggest that the only decisions that matter are the 'really big ones.' Actually, it is the little decisions and choices that you make moment-by -moment that position you for the big questions. Consider the impact of a snowflake. If you have stepped out of your home and caught a single snowflake in your hand, you know how ephemeral they are. As fleeting as the life of a single snowflake may be, you know that the wonder of Yosemite was the result of snowflakes. So it is with the "little" decisions and choices.

When you are sleepwalking, you have chosen to be unconscious. As a result, your thoughts may appear to be random because the immediate impression is disorganization. Even then, with some reflection, a pattern will be detectable. The simple decision that must be made consciously is to become clear in our intention. Clarity of intention is the antidote for indecision. Clarity of intention is the first step toward allowing action.

47

Clarity of intention makes it easy to organize your thoughts. When you organize your thoughts, a subtle cascading effect begins to unfold. Out of the universe with its infinite array of possibilities, you begin to notice relevant events. It is as if salient features of the universe begin to appear in your life. If you pay attention, you will note that somehow the right thoughts, right people, and right experiences begin showing up. The human mind is something like a tuning fork. It vibrates, and emits a frequency. The vibration strikes a resonance in some other people. It is this resonating effect that attracts people and events into your life space. With clarity of intent and absence of distraction, you begin to create your future and have the possibility of manifesting your destiny. So as you attend to intention for a specific purpose, you are taking responsibility for manifesting destiny. Any particular thought, word or action that you exercise in your mind will begin to materialize based on the degree of emotional intensity, passion and concentration. When you show up for the universe, the universe shows up for you.

Health, prosperity, abundance and success are all patterns just as illness, poverty, despair and failure are systemic patterns. When you look within and reach a state of awareness and personal responsibility, you begin to take your power by choosing and deciding. Having empowered yourself, you are able to respond and create decisively in your life, the habits and patterns of fortune you desire. These are self-actualizing moments!

In summary:

- You must become present and aware of the conditions and circumstances you have created and are attracting into your life. Your presence and awareness allow you to take responsibility for where you are and how you got there. Being present and aware positions you to know fully that at the end of the day, your life is the accumulation of causes and the follow-on consequences of choices you have made. It will become obvious to you that developing a systemic pattern of positive creative behavior leads to success, while patterns of negative, destructive behavior lead to disappointment and failure.

- Examining your behavior reveals patterns, whether conscious or unconscious. Do the results, consequences or effects of your choices suggest conscious intent, or do they suggest the subtle operation of your hidden agendas? Is conscious and present intention navigating your journey and guiding the creation of your destiny? Or are you creating negative, unhealthy outcomes by giving your hidden agendas free reign over your destiny?

- It is not necessary to react! It is more appropriate to respond. Through self-awareness, you begin noting how frequently you react and how much emotional charge you have attached to

48

your reactions. Every reaction creates some kind of rebound. Hair-trigger defensive reactions have consequences. Have you in fact chosen to abandon your presence for an old pattern of ego protection? Have you surrendered your ability to respond by reacting and thus relinquished your power? You must be willing to look at how your thought patterns set in motion the events that attract pain or pleasure, misery or happiness, failure or success, poverty or prosperity. When a person travels through life choosing not to feel worthy of success and happiness, positive relationships and consequences are repelled, not attracted.

Choices and Consequences

Every choice you make has consequences. Cause and effect occur in all aspects of life. Some consequences are immediate; some are long term. If the choice that you make results in an automobile crash and another person is permanently brain-injured or dies, your saying, "I'm sorry," or forgiving yourself will not change that effect.

It is not our intention to suggest that by releasing your emotional attachment to the consequences of your choices, those consequences will have no negative results in the lives of others. There are two primary objectives in this regard: First, to underscore the importance of choosing to remain as consciously present as possible. And second, to point out that no amount of self-flagellation will reverse the movement of time or change the results of your choices. The appropriate attitude and path is that of treating with compassion everyone whose life intersects with your own. And similarly, remember to treat yourself, and your life with compassion, as well.

Taking Action

Take the initiative! The most important decision you will make in your entire life is to allow yourself to decide what it is that you want and desire, and then commit to the intention and take action. Taking action breaks the bonds of inertia so that momentum becomes possible. Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid! Taking action attracts abundance into your life.

Your part of the process is simple. Choose your objective. Refine and clarify your intention so that it becomes your vision. Commit your energy to that outcome. Reiterate the process frequently enough to keep your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical energies aligned to the intention. This amounts to breathing life into the vision of what you are creating.

It is the combination of clarity of intent, emotional commitment and follow-through that will determine the outcome. Having set these in motion, allows them to work for you. There is a

49

simple bit of aged wisdom that says, "What you choose to think about expands." Therefore, choose your thoughts carefully; let your thoughts argue for prosperity and greatness, not poverty or despair.

Self-pity, along with the other distractions you pursue in order to avoid being in the present moment, provide friction to the creativity you wish to manifest. They restrict and constrain forward movement. By taking action toward your envisioned outcome, you stop constricting and rationing your creative forces. The effect is that you allow energetic movement to flow.

A paradox in acting and not acting

We are suggesting two courses of action. On the surface they may appear to be in conflict. In practice, they are mutually supportive. The first action is to be clear, committed and energetic in envisioning the outcome you wish to create. The second 'action' is to consciously maintain an attitude of allowing and an availability to receive. Allowing means not forcing. Receiving means not grabbing. Being grateful for what you receive and receiving what life brings to you is the starting point of wisdom. The paradox remains. When we urge action, we mean for you to infuse your life with clarity of purpose, conscious intent and passionate commitment to holding the vision while remaining in the present. But we are also urging the wisdom of allowing and receiving, not forcing or grabbing.

Manifesting the future is not a question of speed. When you impatiently push the process, you immediately step out and away from being present in the moment. In your passionate excitement you may be trying to live in the future. A balance is required. It is necessary to hold vivid and real images in your mind and accompany them with your passionate and emotionally infused commitment. It is equally necessary to allow the universe to do its thing.

Sooner or later you come to a simple question: do you trust the principles and laws of the universe, or do you not?

Initiating action breaks inertia. Repetition builds momentum. The daily action of refining and clarifying your vision, along with underscoring your commitment moves you, step-by-step, closer to your goals. What happens in your mind is actually quite simple. Once you have energetically committed to an outcome, your mind scans the broader environment and calls your attention to salient events and opportunities. We are convinced that your mind does more. In our lives we have all experienced the wondrous phenomena of the right people, the right ideas, and the right opportunities showing up at the right time and in the right order. These occur when we remain present, available and maintain an attitude of trustful allowing.

50

Your vision and intention serve as the navigational system for the workings of your subconscious. They will guide your choices. An attitude of allowing means that the journey is a process, not a destination. Enjoy the journey and remain present.

You bring inspiration into your life by living into your commitments. Each time you initiate and take action, you reinforce self-empowerment. It is important to remember that the feelings you maintain about yourself and your worthiness will determine your availability to receive as well as what you will allow and attract into your life.

Allow the chosen path to unfold. Only those who don't know where they are going are in a hurry. Those who do know where they are going simply allow and do not push. You have purpose and vision. What you want now is to stay the course patiently, with resilience and persistence in the thoughts and vision you have chosen to hold.

Action Steps

Many people pursue goals that are set or influenced by someone else. Pursuing goals that are not your own does not produce maximum satisfaction or significant accomplishments. When answering these questions, think along these lines… if you were absolutely certain that you would not fail, what would you really want to be, do and have? If you had all of the resources necessary to get there, what would you really want to be, do and have?

When you set goals, these are the questions you must be willing to ask.

Am I setting this goal because I am committed to success and fulfillment or is the goal a setup to justify my preoccupation or reluctance to succeed and be fulfilled?

In setting this goal will I be creating another distraction and what is the agenda, is it a hidden agenda of failure and breakdown or is it one of fulfillment, success and gratitude?

51

How will I know the true intention of my goal setting endeavors?

Do I deserve to achieve this goal?

What will it take to allow success, education, forgiveness, exercise, weight loss?

What are my values? Am I worthy and deserving?

How do I regard myself? Do I have a favorable opinion of myself?

How am I measuring the outcome of my intentions?

52

What will satisfy me, when will I have arrived?

Taking inventory

Look at the past to help you understand the true impact that choices have on your life. Take inventory of everything that you are and everything that you have done that has significance. All of these things happened because of a series of choices that were made for you as a child and later by you when you matured and took life into your own hands. Ask yourself an important question, what do you really want out of life? Reflecting on this question can save a lot of time and heartache.

Take a personal inventory and assess your present state. Knowing where you are is crucial when deciding your destiny. This assessment provides you with a solid foundation to build upon. Assess yourself in the following areas: Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Financial, Family, Personal & Career.

Making decisions

Think each decision through and allow time to consider the consequences of the decision. You will ultimately make better decisions. Ask yourself the following questions:

How would I feel if this decision appeared in tomorrow’s paper?

What impact will this decision have on my mate and children?

53

Am I compromising my integrity with this particular decision?

Is this decision consistent with my personal, family, work related or team related goals?

Will this decision take me closer to or further from my major objective in life?

Am I making this decision under the influence of people who have a great deal to gain if I say yes or no?

Are the people who are influencing my decision looking after my best interests or their own?

Make sure that a decision fits your purpose. Your decisions must line up with your spiritual beliefs. Listen to your instincts and learn to listen to your intuition when you are indecisive or insecure.

Some basic rules

Fatigue equals lack of energy. Energy equals courage. When you are tired, do not make significant decisions. Do not allow external influence to pressure your decision-making.

54

Determine your maximum benefit (reward) and your maximum exposure (risk). Discuss significant decisions with a mentor or someone who has a substantial amount of experience in this type of matter. Discuss significant decisions with your family members if they are impacted by them.

Prioritize your decisions

To succeed, you must be present, aware, response-able and intent. Commit to your intentions; allow action, gain insight and enjoy. Be honest and ask….

Do I have the courage to follow through?

Do I have a clear intention or am I operating with a hidden agenda?

Am I making this decision because I am intending to impress?

Am I looking for approval and validation?

Will the outcome benefit the people I care about?

55

When we are absent, we are fragmented and dispersed. When you are present, you have the ability to concentrate and bring your attention to one thing at a time.

Many people have a wide variety of interests and desires. All of these interests and desires are good however you cannot be present to all of them simultaneously. It is important to be clear about your purpose and focus on being engaged in the moment. To be successful in life, you want to:

- Learn to work toward one major objective - Juggle two to three short-range to mid-range goals at a time - Identify the areas of your life that need and deserve the majority of attention

You must know where you are and where you want to go!

Direct your Intentions

Great causes inspire success and great effect. There are no mistakes only cause and effect. If you do not know where you want to go, you will end up somewhere that you do not want to be. Have a clear purpose and vision of your goal before you start. A clear picture increases your chances of achieving the goals you have chosen. Having a clear defined purpose will allow you to believe passionately in your cause. It is essential to have a plan. If you don't know where you are going, how will you know when you have arrived?

People who don't want to take the time to develop a plan shouldn't expect to succeed because they don’t want to. It's impossible to get support if you don't have some sort of strategic plan. Besides, it's actually very useful, mapping out where you stand, knowing where you might stand, where you are likely to end up.

Use this list for different aspects of your life to specify goals and intentions and measure yourself on a scale of one to ten to see if you are well equipped and fully alive.

Confirm your purpose and goals with your emotional frequency meter.

How emotionally charged you are in the now will determine the impact of these decisions on your life. When you are deciding and intending your goals use the emotional impact meter to determine the charge associated with your decision. On the scale of one to ten, record the enthusiasm level, the high being 10 and the lowest being 1. Go through the list and feel and observe how your body, mind and emotions are affected when you vocalize the desire, intent or goal. How you are affected by your questions has an emotional charge and will if you allow tell you exactly where you are situated and what changes and adjustments are required if you truly intend to achieve your stated goals.

56

Goals are the how of living with purpose and clear intention.

In each of the eight aspects of your life, identify one thing that your heart truly desires. Take a day to reflect on your choices and to ask yourself why you chose each item and whether your choices are based on abundance and your personal prosperity. If you are reluctant to articulate why that desire is significant and appropriate at this moment in time, reconsider its priority.

Ask yourself, “Are my choices balanced and do they support my purpose?"

If not, reconsider the choice and its impact on your purpose.

Ask yourself these questions and be present to the emotional impact of your answer.

Do I feel worthy and deserving of this goal?

60

Am I present and aware to setting this goal?

Am I willing to accept responsibility for achieving this goal?

Am I clear in my intention for achieving this goal?

Am I committed to the achievement of this goal?

What actions will I allow to achieve this goal?

Will achieving this goal bring insight and fulfillment to my life?

Will achieving the goal sustain prosperity and gratitude?

The emotional trigger activated and associated with each answer will give you the indication as to your readiness based on a feeling of warmth and comfort; however your reluctance will be manifested as fear based resistance, this should be embraced not resisted and the

information derived from the exercise utilized to make the adjustments and improvements necessary to allow success.

Test each goal against the eight basic desires: Does it…

- Support my happiness and gratitude? - Encourage my health and well-being? - Attract and stimulate prosperity? - Increase courage and faith within myself? - Make me kind, considerate and friendly? - Encourage and support peace of mind? - Improve my relationships? - Increase my faith in my future? - support my choices of service to humanity and my personal prosperity? - Lead to fulfillment?

Now that you have clear intentions, you can set smart goals. The term SMART stands for: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. All your desires can be achieved if you approach them with a technique called “the next logical step". This technique illustrates how you must know where you are and make realistic adjustments to achieve your goals.

S stands for specific:

Write down every goal you have. Put boundaries around it so you will know when you have achieved that goal. You must be specific and clear about your target. The more detailed you are, the more excited about your goal you will become and develop the passion that enables you to focus on reaching that specific goal.

M stands for measurable:

Why do it if you can't measure it? Goals are measurable; in sports, in education and in life. If you measure your progress, it is likely you will complete the goal and visible prog-ress provides encouragement. Create segments for your goals so they can be measured and transformed in a systematic way. Identify your checkpoints and hold firm to your commitment.

61

A stands for attainable:

Is the goal challenging and aligned with my purpose? Is the goal a distraction or is it based on clear purpose? Is this goal logical and based on the intention I have chosen? Will achieving the goal inspire me? Will I allow myself to attain this goal?

R stands for realistic:

Do I have a realistic approach to achieving this goal? Is my goal achievable based on my resources and skills? Is my vision clear and realistic? Can I clearly see myself achieving this goal?

T stands for timely:

Do I have a timeline for achieving my goal?

Taking Action

Formulate a plan of action that enables you to measure your progress in incremental steps.

Step 1 – Set a goal that is SMART:

Specific – Measurable – Attainable – Realistic – Timely.

Step 2 – Identify the benefits of the outcome:

Think of the tangible benefits that you will enjoy by reaching your goals. Each time you begin to ask yourself whether pursuing a goal is worth the effort, simply take out the list of benefits and read them aloud. If you cannot articulate in one sentence why you want to be, do or have something, eliminate it as a current goal.

Step 3 – List the obstacles that stand between you and your goal:

Identify obstacles and challenges in front of you in order to be realistic and avoid being surprised. Take a long hard look at the goal and identify the potential pitfalls. Careful advance

62

planning can eliminate the likelihood of failed achievements. Acknowledge that you cannot always see all of the roadblocks ahead and that your responsibility, intention, commitment, and attitude, will determine the outcome.

Step 4 – List the skills and knowledge required:

Identify all of the skills and knowledge you will require in order to reach your goal. Identify alternative ways of mastering skill or knowledge that you do not currently possess. Identify the skills and knowledge that will be needed by those individuals that will be helping you.

Step 5 – Consider who to consult or recruit for your mission:

Being able to achieve your objective starts with your friends and family and in many cases extends to include your co-workers, your boss, your mentor, etc. Carefully identify:

- Friends who encourage your vision and goals for prosperity, - People with whom to share your desired purpose, - People who will encourage your process and progress.

These actions enable you to maintain your focus and keep your eyes on the goal itself

Step 6 – Develop the plan:

Develop a detailed plan that can be executed systematically. Include a record of inputs and outputs to measure your progress and provide feedback on adjustments that will keep you on track toward your intended outcome. Measure daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual progress on the different goals you have chosen on your path to prosperity.

Step 7 – Set a timeline for achievement:

A goal without a timeline is a trap for procrastination and self-betrayal. Determine a start time and a time of conclusion for every goal that you choose to set. Be present to the journey, not the destination, while bearing the outcome in mind.

Acknowledge your accomplishments:

When you achieve your goal, acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishment and be grateful. Poverty is the absence of gratitude. 63

When you practice gratitude moment by moment, you are in a perpetual state of prosperity and therefore Fully Alive.

I am fully alive because:

- My thoughts, speech and actions are consistent with my purpose and intention - I have a strong desire for prosperity (Energetic abundance) - I am worthy and I deserve to achieve my goals. - I trust myself and I have faith in my ability to succeed. - My self image is bright and favorable, I allow success - I set challenging but attainable goals - I pursue my desired goals with personal purpose and clear intention - I am persistent and resilient and I always achieve my goals - Commitment is my anchor - I have earned confidence in myself and, therefore, faith in the process of life - I accept constructive criticism to assess and examine my attitudes and grow - I am enthusiastic and inspired toward life - I do not allow hidden agendas and tempting shortcuts to run my life

A breakdown is an event that occurs so that you may reassess your journey. Breakdown is not who you are. When you attract negative events or experiences, acknowledge your responsibility for what you have created, forgive yourself and be the change. When you acknowledge and allow prosperity, regardless of what has happened, you are response-able and will attract into your life all that you desire.

Segment Intending

Segment intention is what you apply once you have set achievable goals. It is the most powerful way to practice and apply awareness, mindfulness and responsibility to the process. Accomplishing your goals and living into your intentions is a moment by moment journey of achievement. The more present and aware you are, the less likely you are to get distracted or wander off course. When you do, and you will, the sooner you will get back on track. In your daily routines you set intentions. For instance, if you are driving to work, your intention would be to map out the journey in your mind and to get there safely within a reasonable amount of time.

In order to set this intention, sit down in your car, strap on your seatbelt and before you start the engine, think about where you are going, how you are going to get there, how long it will take, what you will be doing in the car as you drive. For example, what will you listen to, the radio or books on tape? You clearly intend to get to your destination safely. This not only works to get you to where you are going each time; it will greatly enhance your skills for long-term intending.

65

Commitment is the glue that holds everything together. Integrity is the main ingredient of commitment. Integrity is to be whole or undivided and complete. To be intergraded means to be fully restored and unified. This is the essence of the Fully Alive philosophy. Until you commit, your intentions have not been grounded. Your intentions are like seeds, they need fertile soil and plenty of water and sunshine. Commitment is the soil, and it is your heart’s desire. You commit by giving your word and it is sacred. Your mind is the water, keep refining your intentions with thought, it’s like pruning your roses, when roses are pruned, they flourish. Your attention is the sunshine, the love; whatever you nourish with pure love and attention will expand and grow.

How are you going to accomplish your intention? What are you willing to do? What changes will you require of your self?

Challenges are the springboards of accomplishment

Life is cause and effect, which equals challenge and response. "When you are green you are growing, when you are ripe, you start to rot". As long as you keep challenging yourself, you keep growing and responding and rising to any occasion that you attract. When facing challenges, you can look back and gain insight from the past to avoid choosing unfavorable courses of action and to move forward with confidence. The consequences of your choices are valuable assets that provide insight into the process of maturing and growing. Do not let an effect depress or discourage you. See the effect of the cause as a step on the road to a solution. Realize that depression and discouragement are a form of self- pity that renders you powerless and disabled. Be present and embrace the challenges you attract. Do not resist challenges, but see them as opportunities to respond and grow.

The cause and effect of your choices is a continuous process. Challenge – Response, Opportunity – Response. It is a system of input—output—feedback that is defined by your purpose, intention, commitment and perspective. The process does not define who you are, nor is it fixed in time, although it defines your perspective if you allow yourself to be confustipated and experience self-pity.

66

People who succeed

- Are aware of their ability to respond and take charge of their destinies - Make the choice to be responsible for their life through their thoughts, words and actions - Organize their thinking for a specific purpose based on clear intent - Make a commitment to their choices and desires - Take action in measurable steps to execute the plan without losing focus - Gain insight from the process of metabolizing their experiences as they transform - Are enlightened by the transformation and enjoy life with unattached appreciation and gratitude. - Make the commitment that they are going to achieve their goals - Commit themselves to daily detailed responsibility - Define their goals in small pieces. Daily goals add up to equal larger, long-range goals. - Get into shape physically, mentally and spiritually

Turn your liabilities into assets. Learn to respond rather than to react to difficulties and challenges. Responding is enabling while reacting is disabling.

Without fulfillment, there is no success. Success is the sum of small contributions repeated day in and day out. When you choose and commit yourself to do the things that you must do when you are committed to do them, the day will come when you can do the things that you want to do when you want to do them.

Your dreams will come true; all you have to do is wake up and execute your dreams. Define your purpose with clear intent, knowing that your actions will produce returns from all of your investments. You contribute with kindness, compassion and respect; you are grateful for your blessings and therefore abundant. You have achieved prosperity.

67

and actions. Embrace these insights. Do not reject them. The consequences of your compulsive, reactive behavior patterns and the hidden agendas that have governed your life in the past will now be seen as opportunities for self-discovery and growth.

At this point in time, you have gained the insight and ability to compassionately show up for yourself, instead of abandoning and betraying yourself through reactionary and impulsive behavior. When an opportunity or challenge arises in your life, you consciously choose to let go of the urge or habit to suppress, deny, or abandon yourself by reacting compulsively. Instead, you choose to respond to the challenge, acting as an unattached observer of the circumstances surrounding your life. You have gained insight into your behavioral patterns.

How you became aware (unattached observer).

As you cultivated awareness in your daily life, you also took responsibility for your life and forgave yourself in every area. This led to your ability to decide, choose, and set clear intentions and goals, which you in turn committed to. You took action and you allowed prosperity. During this process, you began to live a mindful, intentional and purposeful existence. You became aware, inspired and fully alive.

When you are aware and present, you are the witness to your own existence and you have the ability to watch occurrences in and around you without attaching any meaning to them. You are an unattached observer.

What is the difference?

You no longer take things personally. Instead, when challenges (problems) reveal themselves as consequences of your actions, you no longer resist the resistance. Instead you embrace, learn, grow, mature and benefit as a consequence of your life experiences and then make the necessary and required modifications to your behavior. The decisions you make regarding

We all reveal ourselves through our actions and behavior. It is a valuable opportunity to practice unattached observation and an important foundation for maturity and growth. It should be invited into your life and embraced instead of rejected or avoided.

As you move through the process to being 'Fully Alive', insights will arise that impact your intentions, commitments

68

Insight

your life are based on your work with the Glo Motion process and have brought you to a new level of consciousness about yourself and your environment.

Allowing your self to be vulnerable

Intimacy is about closeness. In order to be close to someone you must be available, present and vulnerable. In our modern society, being vulnerable is seen as a sign of weakness, being susceptible, exposed and at grave risk. At grave risk to what? To be seen for what and who you truly are? How scary is that? It may depend on what you are in denial of. It may depend on what you are suppressing or avoiding or hiding from.

In the G l o M o t i o n process, being vulnerable is being courageous, strong, available and accountable. It takes courage to be vulnerable and to completely reveal who you are. It also takes strength and conviction to tell the truth and to take responsibility for the condition of your life.

Trust yourself

You must trust yourself to be visible, initially to yourself and then to others. When you have established your own trust and reliability through consistent, truthful, and honest behavior, you have earned your own trust. That means you have relinquished your need for self-betrayal and abandonment when faced with emotional and mental confrontations. And, it proves your commitment and the ability to show-up and be present for yourself, whatever the circumstances may be.

Gaining insight is about cultivating a state of intimacy, which simply means, "In to me you see." This is called full disclosure. You cannot be more intimate or open-minded with others than you are capable or willing to be with yourself. You have the ability to discern the differences between being self-conscious (an ego/fear based attached, distracted and absent existence) or being aware and present. You must first disclose, reveal, and see into your own life. Then, and only then, will you have the ability to reveal yourself to others and see others clearly and unfiltered.

You are fully alive and aware of the consequences reflected by your actions in the world. You are present and mindful to the evident reality of the law of cause and affect and all your thoughts and actions are now carefully and concisely considered with an end in mind. You have become a decisive and empowered creator.

69

At this stage of the journey, you have cultivated unattached observation and you can see with more clarity who and what you truly are. Your actions reveal your clear intentions and the not so clear, hidden agendas.

You have fully accepted responsibility for where and who you are; you know that your thoughts are the seeds of creation. You are now a deliberate creator and your intentions and goals are clear and committed. You are intending your future deliberately, allowing action to take place through attraction and your availability to receive, in accordance to what you feel worthy and deserving of.

You are attracting and inviting energy and creating life experiences, unattached, knowing that what you give your attention to will grow and expand. This allows you to take responsibility for everything you attract and to adjust your behavior as required. It is exactly what the soul requires for expansion, maturity and growth.

As you affirm your intentions and commitments by consciously allowing and attracting opportunities into your life, to acquire intended results, you are practicing and rehearsing your skills of unattached observation. You are cultivating wisdom and as obstacles and challenges arise in your life, you are available and present to the experience. This provides the necessary attention and awareness to resolve constricted energies and expand.

You are on the Fully Alive path that will lead you toward enjoyment and prosperity. You enjoy the journey as a vigilant unattached observer. You now prosper and thrive.

70

“The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude”. – Friedrich Nietzsche

The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only others but ourselves as well”. –Elizabeth Kubler Ross

You have arrived. You have remembered that you are an enlightened, grateful being and always have been. You are aware and unattached. You have realized that life happens moment-by-moment, breath-by-breath, and that being fully alive means being here now, present and receptive to the joy and abundance that life offers.

When you have achieved a state of gratitude, you have experienced pure, unattached joy. When you live in a constant state of gratitude you have achieved energetic abundance and prosperity. In the moment of the experience there is expansion, light, love, and harmony. There is no lack, despair, or insufficiency when you choose to feel gratitude.

To enjoy your self, unattached, is to be enlightened. That is the ultimate goal. Being enlight-ened means that you are the light, the sacred divine essence of creation, and you live that moment-by-moment, allowing the light to shine unrestricted upon everything equally. Grati-tude and generosity equal true enlightenment. This is prosperity consciousness.

You have taken responsibility and decided to be the light you have denied and suppressed through self-betrayal and personal abandonment. You have relinquished your need for personal abuse and oppression. You are affirming and practicing clear intentions. You commit and honor your word. You take action and allow providence to move with you. You are insightful and intimate and when you discover your distractions and absence you compassionately encourage yourself back to the present moment, regaining and affirming your purpose.

Be Grateful and Enjoy Yourself

Our journey is to come back to the light. Gudni Gunnarsson reminds us that we are all enlightened - and have always been.

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” – Denis Waitley

71

Gratitude

Enjoying yourself is the ability to be and to be enough, to be present to all you are and to enjoy that. Enjoying something external, without enjoying yourself, is a distraction. Be grateful. Enjoy yourself. Then whatever you choose to do is a generous offering of love and prosperity.

You are enlightened and have always been. The ego-mind may have separated you from the source, which is pure light, but the journey is, and has always been, to come back to the source, to the light, which you already are.

Once you have remembered and experienced that you are pure divine light, you shine and sparkle upon all and everything. You come home to your essence and are now one with all of creation. You are a creator and in this state receive and give freely without attachment.

Life moves through you, and the natural flow of giving and receiving is activated. You are now a deliberate creator, allowing things and people to be as they are in this moment, knowing that everything is attracting and creating in its own way. According to the laws of the universe whatever is being thought of or acted on is in complete harmony and you are in a state of perpetual ecstasy.

Light/love is the source of life on this planet. To demonstrate this obvious reality, envision two chambers. One is filled with light, the other with darkness. Now envision a door between the chambers. When you open the door the light will flow inevitably into the dark chamber and illuminate it, not the other way around. Once you decide or determine that you are worthy and available, you may open your door and let the light illuminate your life, so you may live fully and enjoy yourself.

This is an illustration of how your life may be lived, once you have decided to feel and express gratitude, to enjoy and appreciate each moment for what it has brought you as a consequence of your actions and desires. This is the moment when you know that all that is, and all that you have, you have attracted or invited, and what you don’t have, you have refused or repelled.

Gratitude is an attitude - a personal quality that molds us and shapes our lives, not just something we do or say. To be in a constant state of gratitude is to be enlightened. When you are present you control the light switch in your life. Are you on or off? Are you attracting from prosperity consciousness, gratitude, and light or are you repelling prosperity by choosing an attitude of despair and scarcity?

Take responsibility for enjoying yourself. If you don’t enjoy yourself or refuse to appreciate

72

yourself, ask yourself why. Why are you holding back? What are you afraid of? What is the point or the purpose for your denial and betrayal? If you are honest and courageous the answer will always be, “I don’t feel worthy, or good enough. I don’t feel deserving of love and happiness." If these are your answers you have chosen them on some unconscious level and your hidden agendas are determining the patterns and the inevitable outcome of your life.

When you live your life’s purpose you are inspired-- fully alive! To be inspired means to be enthused, and moved by providence. Life is no longer a struggle and you have relinquished your need to defend your limitations. Instead, you are committed to greatness. Life is a flow of opportunities and challenges. When you are present you are available to these opportunities and you practice and apply gratitude. This is prosperity; this is joy.

Compassion, kindness, grace and generosity have replaced inadequacies, insecurities, self-doubt, self-pity and fear. You no longer live a life of scarcity and despair. You live a life of generosity and abundance. You no longer have cravings. There is no hunger. There are no dependencies and you are liberated from the illusion that things and possessions have any meaning or reflect who you truly are. You may now fully enjoy yourself. You are energetically abundant - fully alive and present.

Prosperity is a state of mind. It is intent. When you have entered a state of abundance and gratitude by choice, you have decided your worth and what you are deserving of. You have stepped into your role as co-creator and deliberate attractor. You are fully able and live in a constant state of allowing. You are no longer an attached, dependant creature of habit and despair.

You are now worthy and feel deserving. You are now serving the planet.

With gratitude and kærleikskveðju,Guðni Gunnarsson.
