“I am feeling extremely happy here to experience this galaxy of Yoga Gurus on one stage and the credit goes to MDNIY. For harmony in Universe, harmonious individual and society are needed and Yoga is the only solution. Spiritualism is the essence of Bhartiyata and Yoga is one of our priceless heritage. It is an art to be followed throughout the year as reflected by Shri Aurboindo, “Whole life is Yoga”. It is the right time that Yoga should become people's movement led by Yoga masters. I hope that in near future this initiative taken by MDNIY and AYUSH Ministry will further strengthen the great cause and spread the knowledge of seers in the whole world.
“Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and Nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us to deal with climate change”.
I am happy to see that such a large number of Yoga gurus, seers and students have participated in this curtain raiser which is intended to unfold the preparation for International Day of Yoga-2017. The Guru-shishaya tradition has evolved into different institutes of Yoga and seeing them on one platform together is a real pleasure. India needs a holistic and effective discipline as treatment in modern medicine is becoming expensive. Yoga works as a medicine for psychological, physiological and spiritual healing. My ministry has taken several steps to spread this wisdom like State Yoga fest, fellowship to AYUSH Research Scholars etc. I hope these steps will motivate people. I appreciate the efforts of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, its Director and faculty for successfully organizing this event for second time.

Yoga is the Science of life and art of living. To live in harmony with oneself and the environment is the wish of every human being. It is possible only through Yoga. Yoga is a spiritual discipline which needs to be followed every moment and in every decision. This discipline demands the understanding of oneness between individual self and the universal self. With such understanding, every decision taken will turn out to be philanthropic and harmonious.
Yoga has a holistic effect and brings body, mind and consciousness into balance. In the words of our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, “Oneness with our families, society we live in, with fellow humans, with all the birds and tree with whom we share our planet – this is Yoga.” This oneness removes differences and brings unity and peace in the universe. Yoga has message for each and every individual. When you realize that cosmos is not different from you and you are not different from cosmos then the philosophy, psychology and spirituality of Yoga is related to us to be the best we can be in this world. When you start taking responsibility of own self, thoughts, words and deeds and feelings then you are integrated. When your action, speech and mind are integrated then you are yogi.
