INTERACTWITH CONTEMPORARY LEADERS

The Kent Place Girls’ Leadership Institute (GLI) is a unique opportunityfor girls entering the seventh and eighth grades to explore theirleadership potential and strengthen their personal confidence andself-esteem. Each girl will discover and develop her own uniqueleadership style through a broad range of hands-on activities.

At the Institute, participants learn about team-building, different leadershipstyles and group dynamics. The girls build character by identifying andprioritizing their own values and belief systems which they then use tomake ethical decisions. Compassion is developed through both communityservice opportunities during the program, such as volunteering at a foodbank, and the individual action plan each girl will develop to implement inher own community. Participants come to find courage within themselvesas they push beyond their own boundaries to conquer the challenges of ahigh-elements ropes course. Throughout the two weeks, the girls workclosely with high school mentors and interact with adult women who sharetheir personal and professional leadership journeys. In a culminatingpresentation, par ticipants showcase the public speaking skills theydeveloped in the program’s communication workshops. Ongoing reflectionis a vital part of the character-buildingprocess, and every girl journals regular-ly about her own journey as a leaderthroughout the program as well as howshe will continue applying the skills sheis learning to her life after GLI.

The Institute, a recently expanded,ten-day summer enrichment program, takes place on the beautiful 26-acrecampus of Kent Place School inSummit. Each day begins at 8:00 a.m.and concludes at 4:00 p.m.
