In the cOmmunItyThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers remained champions in the community during the 2009 season. Buccaneers players, coaches, front office staff and their fami-lies were involved in community appearances, partnerships with nonprofit organizations, chari-table donations, outreach programs, and NFL and youth football initiatives throughout the year. The Buccaneers hosted events such as Fan Fest and the official kickoff party to provide Bay area fans with the opportunity to interact with their favorite Buccaneers in an up-close-and-personal setting, and welcomed thousands of children and families to home games at Raymond James Stadium through its outreach initiatives. Gameday ticket programs, Rookie Club, Student Advisory Board, Women’s Organization, and the team’s holiday programs are just a few examples of the many ways that the Buccaneers gave back in 2009.

during the 1999 offseason, the Buccaneers community relations department formed the inaugural student advisory Board (saB). while this team of 40 moti-vated high schoolers may not appear on the roster, the SAB is an integral part of the Buccaneers’ community outreach efforts. The Buccaneers created this council, comprised of high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, in an effort to bring together intelligent and motivated students to perform community service projects, create Buccaneers spirit in their schools and develop leadership skills in preparation for continuing education. Along with participating in monthly meetings and volunteer programs, Board members work as customer service representatives for Buccaneers home games at Raymond James Stadium to greet fans as they prepare to cheer on their favorite team.

This school year, SAB members have participated in a beach cleanup at fort desoto park, facilitated the St. Petersburg CARE Fest city beautifica-tion program and assisted at metropolitan ministries’ Hol iday Food in i t i a t i ve. members also played an inte-gral role at Buccaneers com-munity events including the “day of giving”, “halloween Celebration” and “Turkey Time with the O-line.”
