10 YEARS OF

SCIENCE IN

THE CITY

2016 is an exciting year for our team. It marks a decade since Glasgow Science Festival was born, giving scientists a place to share their fascinating stories of discovery with the public.

This year’s bumper birthday programme is entitled ‘Glasgow Innovates’ to celebrate Scotland’s 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, featuring our specially-curated exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. From 9-19th June, venues across the city will be a-buzz with a huge range of activities designed to enlighten and inspire the ‘weegie masses.

It wouldn’t be a birthday party without cake! Head along to the Science Sunday Big Birthday Bash for our hungrily anticipated Bake Off. Get hands-on at our family weekends in Kelvingrove and the Strathclyde Science Special.

From drug-doping in athletes to the therapeutic potential of cannabis, there’s plenty to talk about. Meet experts from a fantastic diversity of subjects and ask those burning questions.

As astronaut Tim Peake prepares to make his return journey to Earth, we’ll be opening our ears to specially-commissioned poetry, music and comedy at Cosmic Cabaret. Don’t miss our popup outdoor cinema and prime your palette for tasty science ‘chewtorials’ in cheese and whisky.

Over the past ten years, we’ve been fortunate to work with some extraordinary people, from world-leading zoologists to the physicists involved in the discovery of gravitational waves. Unique partnerships with the arts community, from opera singers and acrobats to comedians and visual artists have made for some truly memorable events. We would like to thank the many people who have helped build the festival into what it is today. Help us celebrate with the biggest science-themed party in town. And of course, cake.
