“Music, even in situations of the greatest horror, should never be painful to the ear but should flatter and charm it, and thereby always remain music.” - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart One of the oldest types of music famous for its complex form which requires in-depth knowledge for an individual to better appreciate is the classical art of music. Classical music is extremely relaxing and enriching to pay attention. Musicians mostly use instruments including the piano, violin, cello and clarinet to play this music. One has to develop excellent musical skills, knowledge of the ragas and skill to attain harmony along with other musicians. It calls for you to be aware of the complex relationship between its well-emphasized emotional progressions. This past of classical music can be traced back in the traditions of European art music. It encompasses the original periods of history around the 11th century, the medieval period to the present.

Let’s travel back to the period of dramatic classical music history starting from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, Classical period to Romantic and the twentieth century. Music dictionary is with you along the journey.Music in the middle Ages (Before 1400)

During the Medieval Ages up until the 11th century, the earliest centers of music were the churches as people focus more on God and religion. Thus, music in this particular period was mostly religious and monophonic- which describes the single melodic line without the accompanying

instruments. Music in this particular age was predominantly described as Gregorian chant. Soon after, towards the end of the middle ages and as civilizations developed, using many melodic line or polyphonic music was introduced. The most notable composers of polyphonic music within the medieval age were Leonin and Perotin.

Music within Renaissance Period (1400-1600)

The Renaissance was a great time and marked the start of booming advances in world history. From Christopher Columbus’ famous discovery of the New World to Shakespeare’s distinguished poetry and plays, all created highlights of the extremely influential revival of art, music, literature and learning in Europe which welcomed the great transition from the medieval to modern civilization. Music turned out as a vital part of people’s lives. Around 1450, sheet music became open to everyone and the middle class gained active participation on this field through playing of musical instruments. This period paved a way for secular music, art songs and madrigals. The introduction of harmony gave a new dimension to music.

Music during the Baroque Period (1600-1750)

The Baroque era has been a period in the history of music t called the time of dramatic development of knowledge. This is the era of the spectacular scientific discoveries of Galileo, mathematical advances of Newton and Philosophical innovations of Descartes.

This important time in the period of European civilization marks the birth of the timeless music that people hear in Theatrical art and inspiration to the progression of music for the succeeding periods. Baroque music is known for its multi-faceted ornamentation.Music in the Classical Period (1750-1820)

When you say “Classical Music”, you’ll likely visualize opera or orchestra music. However, in music history, the term “Classical” actually refers to the music composed from the period 1750 to 1820. The French Revolution as well as the Napoleonic Wars which led to many adjustments in Europe were some of the historical events throughout this age. The music history was remarkably highlighted by the change of the patronage system from Baroque music to people’s involvement in public concerts. The music in classical period was notable for the balance and structure that signaled the birth of absolute music in which classical works were mostly performed in concert halls and stages.

Music in the Romantic Period (1820-1910)

The Romantic period was marked by emotional, programmatic and expressive music. Composers developed new musical forms to express themselves. Instrumental and vocal music became popular. There was more freedom in the duration of music, count of movements as well as the quantity of

instruments played and voices used. The Romantic period opened doors for band instruments and innovation of brass and woodwind instruments which made them more popular today. These remarkable advancements pushed composers to form more songs which are best accompanied by these instruments.

Music in the 20th century (1900-2000)

The advent of electronic music together with other technological developments played a crucial role to what we now call the twentieth century music. From the melodies to the types and styles, there are now no limits to composing music. This is actually a new era where individuals have all of the freedom to spend time playing high-tech instruments and enjoy the modern age of limitless music. The story of music is truly interesting.

Nowadays, it’s easier to know the past of your favorite music and the ways in which it was composed. Should you encounter music terms that appear unfamiliar, don’t worry, we’ll show you what they mean. We provide accurate definitions of music terms. Born in the Philippines, Anna Rejante is a seasoned singer having performed regularly at the Tropicana Restaurant with Niel Huab, the other half of their musical duo, Back To Acous-tic.

While most singers discover their talents at an early age, Anna’s interest in music wasn’t realized until her brother convinced her to join her high school’s talent show at 16. The cheers from the crowd at the end of her performance gave her the courage to pursue music further by joining her school choir. Having the blessings of living in New York City in her teens and sorority years, she studied voice under the direc-tion of world renowned soprano Ms. Elena Heimur, landing lead roles in local theatre productions including Cabaret and Anything Goes to name a few. She expanded her repertoire performing with various bands playing in events, shows and concerts in the Tri-State Area. This led to performing for Phil-ippines’ Ms. Vina Morales at the Beacon Theatre and Mr. Leo Valdez at the Fordham University Auditorium.

Performing duets with Philippines’ legendary crooner Mr. Nonoy Zuniga at the Minkler Auditorium and with singer/songwriter Mr. Jose Mari Chan at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto would probably rank as one of the highlights of her musical career. But the most memorable was in 2005 when she was selected out of 200+ hopefuls during grueling auditions in San Francisco to make a guest appearance with Philippines’ Musical Genius Maestro Ryan Cayabyab on his show titled World Musikahan on The Filipino Channel (TFC) which was broadcasted worldwide.

Music took a backseat briefly for Anna upon moving to To-ronto to start a family in 1999. Unable to contain the “music bug”, she found herself becoming a member of a local Toronto band for the next five years performing locally in private functions on weekends. Music took another backseat in 2006 when Anna gave birth to her youngest son, and this time she was sure to give up music for good. But as they say, once the “bug” has bitten you, you just can’t stop it.

2009 proved to be the beginning of a new leaf in her long-standing musical career when she met Neil Huab. A veteran and talented musician from the Philippines, Neil shared his passion for singing with Anna and they formed their musical duo, Back to Acoustic. Tale

Practicing Hip Hop With Rap Beats

When it comes to the music industry there are a lot of different genres that one can go for. These range from rock and roll to electronica and Hip hop. All of these music genres have different sound beats and a variety of different instruments are used for every kind. If you are an aspiring musician and want to make it big in the industry then you have to practice for hours during a day. Practicing means working on the vocals if you are the singer and playing the instruments if you are a drummer or a guitarist.

When it comes to Hip hop music, all we have is a singer and some beats playing in the background. The vocalist has to spit words and try to rhyme them together so that the vocals fit with the music or the beats. This genre is a dif-ficult one for the vocalist as he has to work out a lot on the sounds and how he sings the lyrics. Rap beats are equally important for the singer as they are the ones that set the musical background for the vocalist to perform on. These beats can either be created or you can also find them online.

If you are thinking of buying a hip hop beat online then there are a lot of web music stores that can help you with the requirement. All you need to do is search the right type and you will have hundreds of rap beats listed on the screen. Then you can pick the one that suits your lyrics the best and pay the site for the service. Most of the beats available online are jazzy and created by music professionals. You can also be sure of the beat that you are going to buy as you can hear the demo of all the beats that are available for you.

Unlike the music stores wherein you get beats at super expensive prices, the beats available on certain hip hop sites are extremely affordable. You can get a superb hip hop beat for just five dollars as well. Once you have bought the beat you can use it in any way you like, you can use it for one of your songs or you can share it with your friends. So if you are thinking of becoming a big rapper someday, better start with beats of your choice and fill the lyrics accord-ingly.

One day you’re going to college, studying and having fun; the next thing you know you’re working long hours, eating on the run, rushing home to take care of your kids or your mate. Where does the time go? Managing time means more than managing your life against the clock. It means taking time to look at the priorities that you say are important to you. How many times do you say “I don’t have time?” Are you really saying “that is not my priority” Think about it? We are always telling others and ourselves “I would if I had the time.”

We think we have no choices about how we spend our time. Technology that was supposed to make life easier has actually done the opposite and is eating away at our personal time. Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), computers, email, cell phones and pagers all compete for our attention. Electronic organizers and communication devices create an “on-call” work mentality that takes priority over personal responsibilities. Lack of time is more perception than reality. The problem is the lack of commitment to your priorities after you’ve set them. People overwork, set time to watch television and surf the Internet, but many people don’t set time to do the things that they say are important to them; for example; exercise, interacting with family or just spending time clearing your mind and doing something you enjoy. In one of my previous articles, “Wellness After 30: Getting The Most Out of Later Life”, I talked about the importance of taking a closer look at how you spend your time on an average day; writing down your daily activities to find opportunities to include things you might not have known existed.

In order to free up some of the time you spend watching television, you may want to record the TV shows you enjoy watching, and when you play them back, fast forward through the commercials. You will gain 12 minutes of personal time for every hour of TV you watch. Don’t be forced to follow programming schedules. Watch fewer shows but take the time to enjoy the ones you do see. Try limiting your time surfing

the internet to one hour per day. Analyze the total number of hours you are spending at work versus how productive you really are on an average day.

Time is finite: 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week. You can’t save it, but you can waste it. The amount of time we have does not matter, but rather the way we use it. Life can change in an instant so it’s important to make the most of what we have. Make time for what’s important to you: connecting with others, working in a career you’re passionate about, being proactive about your health by being physically active. Here are five steps you can take right now to get started.

Page 9: Glamz Mag #3

9

1. Establish priorities that are truly important to you.

If your life is already full of things to do and you have no more time to add anything else, which is the case for most people. What do you do? Well you definitely don’t want to add anything to an already full plate. You must take some things away in order to free up time.

If I examined your life right now, would I be able to see what’s really important to you? Ask yourself what’s working, what’s not working and what could be better.

2. Re-evaluate your priorities using your time the way you really want.

As a mom, I have an ongoing struggle to get my children to realize that as they get older I need them to be accountable for the things that are within their capacity to handle, so that I can have more time for what I want to do. I have easily done this in every other aspect of my life, but this particular area is not so easy. I work consistently to get to what I really want in this area of my life everyday.

Take an inventory of your life; Are there areas of your life that need your attention, energy and resources? Look at the people that are in your life and assess why they are there. Do

they fuel you or drain you?

3. Make time for yourself.

Make yourself number one as a priority. Spend your time and energy on things that bring you joy and make decisions based on what you want instead of what others want.

Practice excellent self-care. Focus on yourself in order to strengthen your balance, well-being and quality of life.

4. Set boundaries around your life.

Say “no” with respect when you already have a full plate. Don’t let your guilt talk you into saying yes. Explain to others that in order to honor your priorities you cannot add anything else right now. You can reschedule or just decide that it does not contribute to your overall priorities.

Learn your limits. We don’t say “no” frequently enough and we end up paying a price. For example, your best friend asks you to go to the mall today, your son has soccer practice, your daughter has violin lessons and your mate is working late. What do you do? You can tell your best friend that you have to reschedule the mall trip for another day in order to honor your priorities.

5. Time is a gift.

If you found out today that you had 30 days left to live. What would become important to you? You shouldn’t wait for a message like that to live your life to the fullest. Spend your precious time right now being alive and enjoying your life fulfilling your purpose on this earth everyday.

Now that you’ve freed up some time, create an action plan and set goals to achieve what you say is important to you at this very moment.””

Mostly when individuals or families when go to buy the real estate in Toronto, they should keep one thing in mind and that is the mortgage plan. In Canada there are different types of mortgages like the varying mortgage rate, fixed mortgage rate, deposit rates and the like.

Choosing which one is going to be the best will make your head shaken. Here are some tips that can guide you for the mortgage plan in the Toronto. 1. make sure that you choose a bank or a broker for your mortgage plan. A broker is more preferable as he/she works indepen-dently; they usually have access to the lending and borrowing options. This in turn means that a broker can find the best competitive price according to your budget. 2. The home which you are looking for depends on the “house value”. Usually individuals go for the fixed rate and there is a concept in the general population that if you take the fixed rate in the long run it would be better, but the concept is not good. In fact if you look at the 15 years rates of fixed mortgages and those of variable rates you will find that variable rates are better. In the long run it helps you more than the fixed mortgage rates. When you have learned about the basics of the fixed rates and the variable rates, you also did the further research about real estates of Toronto;it’s now time for the purchase decision. Keep one thing in mind that whether you approach

a bank or a broker, you must know about the risks involved in it. The risks represent the interest rates and the ability to pay them on the time. This is important because if you cannot pay that it can become a nightmare for you and for your family.

Men’s suits come in all different shapes and forms. Any trip to a good menswear shop will remind you that there is huge diversity in what is available. The variables of suit cut, colour, fabric texture and pattern, and trimming (the little details such as lining, buttons, and number, position and size of pockets) make for almost innumerable combinations. Every man should own at least one general-purpose and good quality men’s suit, and you will naturally want to take care when choosing this to make sure it is appropriate for the different circumstances in which you will be wearing it. On-trend vs timeless One of the questions you might ask when buying a men’s suit is whether to opt for something that is on-trend, or that you will be holding onto and making use of for many years to come. Men’s suits age com-paratively well; there is not the same rapid churn in style that is evident in women’s fashion. However, the trend cycles are still there, even if they move more slowly. You will need to ask yourself how much money you are willing to spend; if you choose something more resistant to the va-garies of fashion, you should be able to invest more and pick up a better-quality item as a result. The cut of the suit will be one of the first things to decide. A high-quality double-breasted men’s suit will always be a good addition to your wardrobe, but double-breasted suits tend to go in and out of fashion to some extent. Single-breasted suits are never out of fashion, and a neat, clean example is never a mistake. Timeless men’s suits The style at the moment is towards a sleek, classic-looking men’s suit that highlights the wearer’s masculinity by accentuating the shoulders and maintaining a narrow look for the waist and trousers. This contrasts with the previous fashion for ‘skinny’ and ‘boxy’ suits. It may be a matter of

opinion, but the present cut can be viewed as more timeless than these variations. Either way, you should consider looking for something popular but that will age well, rather than picking something that is on-trend but has a limited lifespan.

The many variables of colour, pattern/texture and trimming are likewise worth considering carefully. In some measure these will depend on your personality and stature. A good suit-fitter will be able to help you select a men’s suit that will flatter your body shape, and all of these aspects will come to bear in some form or other; the number of buttons, position and size of pockets, length of trousers and so on all give subtle clues as to the proportions of the wearer.

Looking and feeling good However, since this is an all-purpose suit, you should also think carefully about how it makes you feel, as well as how you look. Men’s suits tend to have a certain character – typically a kind of understated elegance or a slightly more bold impression that brings a sense of easy panache. Large-ly this is, again, about the trimming; lapels, buttons and pockets add up to give an overall impression that can be quite striking. You need to ensure that the character of the suit matches your own. Some men are capable of carrying off the additional flair of something a little bit different; this is largely a matter of confidence, and you should always be comfortable with that projected image. However, what you wear for work or a wedding might not be suitable for a funeral or job interview. If you are in any doubt, the simple, classic option will likely be the better choice.

After the success of the Droid Razr model, they have chose to bring in a new model called Droid 4. This model looks promising and it may become one of the best cell phone deals. The display of the device is big and it offers a resolution of 540x960 pixels. Along with the QWERTY keyboard this machine becomes a genuine laptop. The downside of the display is that it is not makes use of the latest Amoled tech-nology. You will need to use an old LCD screen. The visibility of the display is not very decent and many potential customers might turn away due to this issue.

The good: Motorola’s Droid 4 shows that a dual-core, 4G LTE Android slider phone with a QWERTY keyboard is possible. With fast data speeds and a great typing experience, the phone also serves up pleasing call quality over Verizon’s network.

HardwareThe display here is a massive 540 x 960 pixels on 4-inches of space, putting this device at 275 pixels per inch. That’s quite impressive when it comes down to it, it being not quite as rich with pixels as the Galaxy Nexus (at 316 ppi) but certainly ready to contend with the DROID RAZR whose same resolution sits on a slightly larger display, putting it at just 256 ppi. At this close range you wont notice the difference unless you’re holding these devices up next to one another, but the difference is there.Other than that you’ve got what’s actually a slightly larger device than the DROID 3, this bulk coming from the ad-ditional plastic around the edges, seeming to have been added here for stylistic purposes instead of necessity. The device is almost exactly the same height as the previous DROID QWERTY and the keyboard is similar, but quite a bit nicer when you’ve used it for a bit. While the older DROID keyboards did seem excellent when they were first brought forth on the first couple of units, the age started to show harshly on the DROID 3. Here there’s a new amount of space and a sensor-activated light surrounding the keys.

Phone and BatteryThe battery on this beast is a full 1785 mAh placing it right beside the original DROID RAZR in battery rating and capturing just about as much time in the wild as well. When you’re using this device for streaming video you’ll get a few hours out of it – enough time for about a full movie and a half. If you’re using it heavily throughout the day, you’ll get something like 6-8 hours. If you’re using it lightly, for email and web browsing exclusively that is, you’ll be getting 10 hours or more no problem. One charge a night should be good for most users.

CameraMotorola is back to having a decent beast of a camera here with 8 megapixels on the back along with 1080p video capabilities.
