WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO

summer fun!We are looking forward to sunny days spent at the boardwalk, picnic in the parks, and trips to the ice cream parlor!

The History of the NJ Shore

The New Jersey Shore truly is the beating heart of New Jersey tourism. The shore is unique in that it has something for everyone, from miles of wooden boardwalks filled with fun games, pizzerias and rides to small unknown mom and pop shops and seafood eateries speckled along the 130 miles of coastal shoreline. The coastal shoreline runs from Sandy Hook in the northernmost region all the way down to Cape May Point in the southernmost region.

From North to South, the Jersey shore includes the following counties: Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May County.

Visitors from abroad and NJ natives alike have relished some fun moments as they experienced the different colors of the seasons changing, million-dollar views and lavish historical monuments. The shore offers fishing, nightlife venues, restaurants, casinos and much more.

The younger generation has surely experienced some wilder times renting beach houses for one-week stints up to 8 weeks at a time. Depending on the season and the town, it is not uncommon to see a beach rental filled with teenagers on the front porch listening to tunes and drinking refreshments.

The New Jersey Shore is commonly referred to by locals as “the Shore” or “Let’s head down the Shore.” So before you pack up your swim trunks to head “down the Shore,” we’d like to first unearth some unique history as well as offer up some practical traveling tips for when you are visiting the area.

Knowing some history will surely open the floodgates of fun as you explore the beaches, small towns, fishing areas, boardwalks and restaurants.

So, are you ready? Let’s begin...

Although the Jersey Shore has always technically existed, it wasn’t until the construction of the first boardwalk in Atlantic City that the shore gained the attraction and tourism that we know and love today. In 1870, the boardwalk simply provided residents of the resort town with a separation between their hotels and the beach, making everyone excited to visit the area. This excitement was due in part by the fact that they didn’t have to step right outside their front door into the hot and sticky sand.

RECAP: HOW WE HAVE STAYED CONNECTED THIS MONTH

virtual visits! What a wonderful tool technology is! Due to COVID-19, we have not allowed visitors into the community. We have been able to stay in touch with families through social media and virtual visits. Also, window visits are our favorite!

IT’S OUR PLEASURE TO SERVE YOU … updates from your leadership teamDear Residents, Staff and Family Members,

I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Frank Evegan, Executive Director, at Bella Terra. I am proud and honored to be a part of an amazing community with wonderful team members, residents and loving family members. I entered the healthcare/assisted living profession after losing my grandmother to Alzheimer’s in 2011. My grandmother was my role model and best friend. I admire seniors and would not see my career any other way. After supporting my grandmothers care for many years, I have the utmost respect for how our staff, residents and family members feel (or what you may be going through). I have held several roles in the Assisted Living profession working as an Administrator, Regional Director of Operations and most recently, at a Corporate Office leading operations for a company.

I was thrilled when I saw Senior Lifestyle Corporation had an opening at Bella Terra. I missed being an Executive Director. I love spending each and every day at the community with our incredible staff and amazing residents. In my eyes, our goal is to provide support, compassion, patience, customer service, honesty and sincerity every day, all while providing our front line team with the tools necessary to do their jobs in a friendly and supportive work environment. When I am not at work, my time is spent with my wonderful wife, Alison, and our three children, Frankie, Rachel and Ryan.

I recognize that I am starting at a time where many of you have been facing fear, stress, uncertainty and mixed emotions during this pandemic. My goal is to lead our community with the highest integrity, transparency and support for each and every one of you. I look forward to the days where everyone is out and about again; this way, I have the time to get to know each and every one of you more. In the meantime, if there is anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

With sincere gratitude,

Frank
