Creating a KPI

•To create a new KPI click on the Edit KPI’s icon located on the KPI trend Viewer tool bar.

•Press the Add button in the Edit KPI window.

•Named the KPI and press OK

KPI Creation

•On the KPI edition zone the user needs specify:

- KPI category ( optional)

- KPI source

-User have a list of the available frame clicking on the narrow down icon

- Select the KPI match condition for the System and for the Frame source

KPI Creation

•Since the user configure the KPI source and match condition the next step is to write the KPI formula.

•The KPI trend viewer has a dedicated environment for the KPI formula creation

•The user can also combine SQL2008 commands on the KPI formula.

•After the KPI formula creation, user can verify the expression integrity by pressing Check Expressionbutton.

•The last steps on the KPI are:

- Specify the ranking Sort condition (Ascending or Descending)

- Apply a scheme color on the KPI results

- Set a performance Threshold for the KPI results

-To finalize the KPI creation press the OK button.

Selecting a KPI

•Since the KPI is created, its become available on the KPI list box.

•To use a KPI, just select it on the KPI list box and press “ + ”.

•The user can add multiples KPI on the same graphic.

•To add another KPI user just need select the other desired KPI the press “ + ”.

Setting the Analysis Range

•Before running any KPI analysis the user must set the time range and KPI trend visualization.

• Daily report

• Hourly report

• Weekly report

• Ranking report

•The user must set the time range using the follow method:

-Set the final date range

-Set the last hours range

- Set who many hours/days/mouths will be considered

System and Elements Selection

•The user can be ran the analysis over the entire network or over an specific network element.

•The Last step to run a KPI analysis is to select the system under performance test.

Output format

•To change the output format, user need:

-Right click on the graphic area,

-Choose Type,

-Select the desired output format

-Output result will be automatically update on the screen

Output Analysis

•The hourly, daily, weekly and Monthly output’s are time base results

•Use may change the KPI trend visualization and choose between

• - hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and Ranking

Output Analysis

•The ranking analysis reports the worst case performance elements.

•User can set the threshold, scheme color and the number of worst under performance elements to be reported for a KPI parameter (see KPI creation –Ranking)

Automatically update

•The KPI result are automatically update on the graphic area when user:

- Add/remove networks elements

- Add/remove KPI

- Change the time range parameters

- Change the KPI trend visualization

General Options

•Clicking on General options the user can:

-Set the week days that will be considered on the analysis,

-Create a list of day that will be excluded from the analysis,

-Change the data format for output,

-Set the output graphic format and type,

- Set to automatically update the KPI results,

- Optimize the database performance.

•Monitoring KPI solution offer a set of powerful filters

•For Selection and Exclusionfilters, user can set:

•The area filter allow the user set an area on the map and apply this area as selection or Exclusion area filter during the KPI analysis.

•The system filter allow user to create queries on the cell system and apply this queries as a selection or exclusion filter

•The user can also include a busy hour filter on the analyses.

•The busy hour range can be defined by user or can be calculated based on the network element and the desired KPI parameter

•The amount of under performance elements can be displayed by:

• - MSC

• - BSC

• - Site

• - Cell

•To visualize the under performance elements from a different network perspective, right click on the result area and choose the desired element

• - Find next underperforming element

•- Find previous underperforming element

- Check only underperforming elements

Generating Tables and Maps

Right click on the KPI to have the option to generate the maps and tables

The tables are saved on result node and can have :

o Consolidated – The data is aggregated for the overall period

o Detailed – The data is outputted for the period (Hour/Day/Week/Month)

Layout Creation

•To create a report layout select “Report Layout”

•Press Add,

•And named your layout

•User can select Rankings and Graphics outputs on the layout configuration

•Network elements breakdown can also be set on the report layout

•Select “Run Report”
