“A Cœur Joie” is working for the development, organization, and establishment of choral singing in France; to achieve these goals, the association is putting together a network of both amateurs and professionals.

“A Cœur Joie” has already united over 400 French choirs, consisting of 15,000 amateur singers scattered all around the country in children, youth, and adult choirs

On top of its annual activities, every three years “A Cœur Joie” is also in charge of the greatest choral singing festival: Vaison-la-Romaine’s “Choralies”.

Since 2010, “A Cœur Joie” has chosen the name “Choralies” for its activities and communication.

OF THE INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A CITY AND A PASSION.

“Les Choralies” are an international event, fruit of a passionate relationship between an exceptional village and artistic vocal expression.Situated at the very heart of the Provence region, Vaison-la-Romaine has been holding the title of “European Choral City” since 1992, and has been the festival’s partner for over sixty years. Counting among France’s 100 most beautiful detours, Vaison sees her usual 6,500 inhabitants population double during the Choralies!

LET’S GO FURTHER, TOGETHEREvery three years, the Choralies are challenged to reinvent themselves, meet their audience’s expectations and allow people to discover new vocal practices.For its 22nd edition, the focus is on the mixture of genres, practices and arts.Together, let’s work to go even further and contribute to the development of choral singing.

A FESTIVAL FOR ALLThe human aspect of the Choralies is of great value. The festival hosts choir singers, conductors, musicians and vocal groups from all venues, with their own strengths, differences, expression, and sensitivity.

For 8 days, over 5,000 participants will share their time between meetings, discovery ateliers and finest quality concerts.

COMMON SINGINGSince the Choralies’ early days, common singing has been the opening of all Roman Theatre evenings, a unique and magic moment, filled with emotion, where thousands of voices come together to sing as one.

Audience and singers united on the tiers get a chance to express and taste the depths of the Choralies’ soul, in all its human glory.

Passengers for a day, audience for a night or old-established singers, should there only be one unforgettable memory people keep from the Choralies, it would definitely be the extraordinary image of common singing that is bringing the whole city together.

ATELIERS / CONCERTSOver ten concerts will be performed in Vaison’s Roman Theatre. The Youth African Choir’s polyphony, the original staging of Carmina Slovenica or the crazy Les violins barbares trio, the festival is proud to host varied groups that all excel in their respective disciplines.

Every three years, should it be modern or classical, polyphony shakes the very ground of the Roman Theatre.

Over forty ateliers covering many and varied themes are available, and led by famous conductors. This way, no matter their level or skill, all participants can be satisfied.
