Gisela A. Paulsen, MPharm Director Independent Medical Education Department Genentech, Inc. Biography Gisela Paulsen joined Genentech in 2005 and is currently Director of the Independent Medical Education Department. In this capacity she leads a team of professionals that manage Genentech’s commitment to address significant unmet medical needs by supporting independent medical education that contributes to the best interests of patients and the medical profession. Before joining Genentech, Gisela spent the past 10 years on the provider side where she most recently was General Manager for Health Learning Systems (HLS), a CommonHealth Company. She practiced pharmacy in a clinical setting before moving to the United States in 1995. She lives in the Bay Area together with her husband David and their daughter Caroline.

Biography Trudi Bloom joined Genentech in 2006 and is currently one of the Medical Education Grants Managers in the Independent Medical Education Department. In this capacity, she oversees several multi-disciplinary Grant Review Committees in the areas of Ophthalmology/AMD, Cystic Fibrosis, Growth Hormone Deficiencies, and Thrombolytic Care. Before joining Genentech, Trudi spent the past 5 years with Scios, a Johnson and Johnson company. She started out as a Publications Manager for Natrecor®, an intravenous agent for the treatment of Acute Congestive Heart Failure. She transitioned into her role as a Medical Education Manager for Scios in 2004. Prior to transitioning into the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry, Trudi managed Public Relations and Marketing Communications activities in the software and semi-conductor industries. Trudi received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and her Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband David.
