GIS Basic concept in TFL

The goal of GIS in Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) is to reduce the effort required for planning the company network .

The intent is not to replace the planning processes and procedures but to increase the ability to make responsible decisions based on the most detailed data available.

Network analyses must still rely in part on judgement and experience. Use ofGIS allows a planner/designer to accommodate more detailed evaluation of our Network parameter than would be feasible using manual procedures.

The data stored in our GIS will assist all stakeholders for future planning, analysis, queries and etc.

GIS Products

• G/Designer is used to:• Planning our future Network• Design new cable projects• Update existing plant records• provide the user environment for accessing the corporate

asset database.• G/Netviewer:

• Provides the view/read only access to the TFL GIS database and allows users to view, query and extract data on TFL’s External Plant network.

• GeoMedia• Combines data from different sources of different formats

to be viewed and analyzed in one environment. • Mostly used for planning purposes.
