Exercise Errata

Tutorial 3-1, Tutorial 3-1.mxd, page 77: The paths for Tutorial 3-1.mxd “MajorRoads” and “CensusBlkGrp” are hard coded to the wrong location. To work around this, follow the steps below:

1. After completing Step 1 (opening the map), the links to the data are broken so we need to fix them.

2. Right click on CensusBlkGrp >> Properties >> click the Source tab >> Set Data Source button >>

Navigate to C:\EsriPress\GIST2\Data\Census.mdb >> double click on DFWRegion >> Select CensusBlkGrp >> Click Add >> Click OK.

3. Right click on Major Roads >> Properties >> click the Source tab >> Set Data Source button >>

Navigate to C:\EsriPress\GIST2\Data >> Select MajorRoads >> Click Add >> Click OK.

4. Continue on to Step 2 on Page 77.

Tutorial 6-1, Time Slider analysis, page 203: The included MXD is corrupted with regards to the time slider functions of ArcMap. To work this part of the tutorial and associated exercise successfully, download and use the new MXD file Tutorial_6-1_Slider.mxd.
