Message from the Principal
The global pandemic that we all are witness to at the present moment has led us, individuals, to fall prey to the uncertainty of it and has given rise to fear among all. With the almighty's grace and sheer faith in my heart, I speak to all my dear students and parents to stay united and work together for a better tomorrow.
Enhancement of language acquisition requires reading and writing skills in regularity, and for this purpose, we present to you the GIS Newsletter where we expect our students to focus on various literary pursuits and develop their reading and creative writing skills.
We at Gateway International School, Sonipat have been leading as an example of rigorous efforts to keep a steady flow of learning and exploring for the encouragement of our students and teachers. My heartfelt message for all is that you may have the strength to fight in the face of fear and continue to prosper.
STAY HOME STAY SAFE!

Message from the Headmistress
‘Creativity is imagination and imagination is for everyone.’

Headmistress/GIS
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce to you our e-magazine, GIS Times: Udaan, a great way to communicate and be creative. The e-magazine is one of the many sincere efforts by the school to keep the parents abreast of the various school events and at the same time provide our learners with a platform where they will be encouraged to exhibit their creativity and soar up high with the wings of imagination. Udaan will reflect upon the various thought-driven drills and activities conducted in the classrooms on an ongoing basis. Moreover, Reading and Writing have always been our core focus areas, hence, we wish to concoct good readers and writers through this endeavour.
The unprecedented hardships of the lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 had put each of us in a situation for which we had no experience and little preparation. But we adapted to the new world of virtual classes with a sense of gratification and it empowered us to continue the teaching – learning process for our learners. This wouldn’t have been possible without the invincible ability of the GIS Family – its Management, Teachers, Parents and Learners.
I express my deep appreciation and hearty congratulations to the Editorial Board and to all those who have taken interest and pain to put together the efforts and work of the learners in shaping the School Magazine.
I earnestly pray that we live up to the name, “Udaan” and keep flying high towards the limitless sky.
Inspiring young Indians…
Dream it. Wish it. Do it.Shubham Jaglan is a 16 year old Indian amateur golfer who won the Junior World Golf Championships in 2015. Jaglan is also a World Record holder and is recipient of the "NDTV – Emerging Player" and " M a r g d a r s h a n " awards.Jaglan has won over 100 domestic and international tournaments. He was born in village Israna, Panipat district, Haryana. His father is a milkman by profession and h i s f a m i l y p r a c t i c e s Pehlwani. He received his primary education in his village and now studies at the Laxman Public School in Delhi.
An NRI named Kapur Singh started a golf academy in Jaglan's village. Jaglan was enrolled into the academy by his grandfather. Against the wishes of his family and despite the academy shutting down, he continued his practice on a small piece of land in his backyard. This land was cleaned by his father and converted into a green with three holes. Most of Jaglan's formative training was self-taught from videos on YouTube.
He was later spotted by The Golf Foundation that gave him annual scholarship of INR 2.0 lakh and a membership in the Delhi Golf Club, which in turn helped the father and son to relocate to Delhi to continue his training.

Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action.GIS Juniors also celebrated International Yoga Day with the theme: 'Yoga at Home' along with the entire world. Our students encouraged everyone to practice yoga and make it a part of their daily routine as it is a powerful tool to deal with the high level of stress which this pandemic has created in our lives as well as to maintain physical well-being.

AASHIRWADGrandparent’s Day 2020!!!“Spending time with grandparents is always a good thing to do, for I discover many things and always learn something new.”
The last week of September was filled with abundant showers of blessings, excitement and cheers as GIS Juniors virtually celebrated AASHIRWAD…Grandparent’s Day 2020!!! The Grandparents of the students of Classes Pearl to V graced the occasion by being virtually present over 3 consecutive days. Our respected Headmistress welcomed all the grandparents and expressed gratitude for their consistent support and guidance without whom the grooming of the little children would be incomplete. All the grandparents participated enthusiastically and startled us by their amazing performances, melodious voice on Bhajans and amusing tongue twisters. They appreciated the efforts of the institution for preserving and strengthening the cultural roots among children. It was a successful event indeed, and the School as always would be pleased to organize many more such events.

Hues Day
Hues days are organized to take our children into the mesmeriz ing realm of colours. The different shades make our tiny tots feel bright, lively and cheerful. They dress up in a particular colour attire and enjoy many activities related to the theme. It is a wonderful learning activity which helps them to sort and classify objects based on colours thereby reinforcing cognitive skills in them.
We ensure to engage children in fun activities like throwing and catching drills, that helps them to practice fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and acquire some fundamental skills while enjoying with peers.
