The Resource Information Management Division (RIMD) has been working with the Park Facilities Management Division (PFMD) to collect geospatial and digital image g ( ) g p g gdata of NPS facilities since 1999. A representative amount of data has been collected for virtually all of the facility asset types (trails, road, maintained landscapes etc.) across the NPS. However, data collection of park buildings has made the most progress and has the highest volume of data collected to date. The goal of this partnership is to utilize these data in the NPMap Enterprise Geographic Informationpartnership is to utilize these data in the NPMap Enterprise Geographic Information System (EGIS) application framework and to integrate with the Facilities Management Software System (FMSS) to enhance usability and efficiency of facilities management. NPMap is an application that provides users access to this integrated information.

NPMap overlays NPS geo-spatial data over an imagery or roads and cultural base map while allowing intuitive referencing, searching, and visualization capabilities. This application also allows you to dynamically zoom to any NPS park unit by typing in the park code into the search box in the upper right hand corner of the map.

Using geospatial data as a tool for facilities Management is common place and has been used by municipalities and government agencies world wide. For the NPS, NPMap allows for easy referencing of facilities locations and assets records in FMSS while providing the opportunity to i t t ith th NPS t h Li t f Cl ifi d St t (LCS) A h l i l Sitintegrate with other NPS systems such as List of Classified Structures (LCS), Archeological Site Management System (ASMIS), and NPS Focus. Enterprise GIS provides many useful services for managing NPS facilities in the future.
