September 19-20, 2015WHAT IS CAMPOREE?

Camporee is a Dublin Girl Scout sponsored event. All Dublin Girl Scouts are invited to attend. Camporee celebrates the BEST things about Girl Scouting: Fun, Friendships, Food, Outdoors, Songs, SWAPS, Crafts, Campfire, and Camping. This is an action packed event.

WHEN IS CAMPOREE?Camporee begins Saturday, September 19, 2015 and ends Sunday, September 20, 2015. Most troops opt to stay through until Sunday morning,

September 20. (see “WHO GETS TO SLEEP OVER?”)

WHERE IS CAMPOREE?Camporee will be held at Camp Ken-Jockety — the site of Dublin Day Camp — 1125 Hubbard Rd., Galloway, 43119. We take over K-J for the weekend...What

a great site!WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

Camporee activities are geared toward each age level. The programs are divided into Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador groupings with some over- lap of activities which interest more than one age level.WHO CAN COME?

Any registered Girl Scout from Dublin, with appropriate adult supervision (girl/ adult ratio as required by Safety-Wise) may attend. In true Girl Scout fashion, program groups will be made up of a variety of girls from across the Service Unit.

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior troops will pick their Network Programs and will be ac-companied by an adult Producers. All adults will have a role at camp. Please see the registration form for further information.

WHO GETS TO SLEEP OVER?Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are encouraged to camp overnight. Brownies will sleep overnight in a lodge unit on a space-

available basis. Place- ment in camp is set by the Camporee Committee, with space allocated to maximize the usage of the facilities and sites. Troop age level and leader training will be used to de- termine placement. Troops can expect to share space. K-J facilities include lodges, yurts, and platform tents. The Camporee Committee will ensure outdoor camp certified leaders are buddied with non-certified leaders.

Camporee encourages a campout. There is no price break for those not spending the night. Leaders/Parents know their girls best — not everyone is ready for an over- night. The decision on who is spending the night must be made BEFORE you arrive at camp. Girls not spending the night must be picked up no later than 8:30pm and leaders are responsible for escorting them back to the pickup circle.

Daisies and those not spending the night have completed Camporee and do not return for Sunday Closing Ceremonies.

BE AWARE — NO ONE LEAVES CAMP AFTER 8:30pm.

Girl Scouts In Action!!!

WHAT DO ADULTS DO?

Each troop must provide 3 volunteers to help with Day Programming. Adults not serving as Producer will be assigned a Program (job) Duty while at Camporee. Although leaders may volunteer, it DOES NOT have to be the leader. Parent volunteers are welcome

Program Volunteers MUST attend one of two mandatory training meetings. You are wel- come to attend both if you have questions.*Dates and Locations of training will be announced at a later date

WHAT DO LEADERS NEED TO KNOW?

You must REGISTER by troop. Girls pick the top 2 Network Programs they prefer. Other girls within the same troop may pick different packages. Girls who are Buddies must pick the same packages. On the Troop Registration Form, the Leader lists the choices for each girl and the name of their Buddy. Leaders pay for troop registration with one check.

You must ARRIVE by troop. Tell the Parents just dropping off girls to “Follow the Leader” so everyone will arrive at the same time. Adults will unpack cars into carts labeled with the unit assigned to their troop and then, if staying, park the car. The Camp K-J parking lot is too small for everyone to drive. CARPOOL, PLEASE!

All Girls and Adults must bring their own lunches for Saturday. All Girls and Adults need to bring a water bottle. All Girls (Adults, too!) need a bucket hat or cap to hold SWAPs.

WHAT IS THE COST?

While the bulk of the event is done by volunteers and some donations, there are still ex- penses to have this event. Some costs include, but are not limited to, such things as rent, patches, food, some activities, and presenters. Troop leadership determines how this will be paid (i.e. troop funds, individual’s funds, etc.) What do you get for your money?
