Dear Stakeholders,

The following pages contain the profiles of some of the brightest graduates of India who are aspiring to make successful careers in applied Economics and are equipping themselves towards fulfilling those aspirations. As graduate students of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, one of the foremost universities of Economics, they are selected through a rigorous all-India entrance examination that tests their analytical abilities in economic problem-

solving and their facility with quantitative techniques. Apart from its well-appreciated MA in Economics programme, the institute offers two new masters level courses, viz. M.A. in Financial Economics and M.A. in Agri-business Economics.

The course work at Gokhale Institute emphasises policy analysis and concordant decision making skills that are grounded in analytical tools drawn from econometrics and optimisation theory. This knowledge base can be put to various business applications.

To give a few examples:

1. The understanding of policy trends at the national and international levels, policy representations

2. Analysis of alternative sustainable growth strategies including vertical and horizontal growth diversification

3. The optimisation of financial and investment operations, risk management and asset-liability matching ,

4. Interpretation of regulatory trends.

Economics graduates are particularly suitable to make decisions in situations in which businesses operate in competitive industrial environments which themselves are shaped by national and international economic policies.

I, therefore, invite you to have a look at the profiles of Gokhale Institute students and decide which profiles will suit your requirements. Our placement team and program coordinators will be of assistance to you at all times. Also please feel free to get in touch with me for anything you require. We look forward to your visiting our campus and meeting you.

The placement cell consists of students from each branch of Economics course and a faculty placement coordinator. Gokhale Institute provides full support to the students for recruitments and this has resulted in 100% placements in the past several years. With the new branches of Agri Business and Financial Economics, the number of students has increased so the companies have a further choice while recruiting. We invite banks, insurance companies, business houses, government bodies, research organisations, financial conglomerates on campus for placements.

Final Placement Process:

Companies are invited to make a presentation in the form of a seminar to the students and interact with them. This gives the company a good idea of the student quality at the institute.

Pre-placements talks will be held in the months of September, October, November to discuss the jobs on offer, remuneration.

Final placements start from the month of December. However, schedule is flexible in case of privileged companies.
