EGYPTIAN ART• Most Surviving artwork comes from Tombs which Egyptians build to assure an afterlife
for the dead.
• Egyptian Artists did not try to create work for originality, but instead created traditional formulations that expressed specific ideas.
• Form and subject is a characteristic in most Egyptian work
EGYPTIAN ART KA – What Egyptians thought to be the soul of the dead (spirit)
-Would make artwork and furniture for who ever passed and then it would be placed into their burial Mastaba so that the KA could live a happy and conferrable after life .
-Sometimes they would even create a window in the mastaba so that the KA could see people giving sacrifices and worshiping their soul.
-Mostly everything had to do with an after life
EGYPTIAN ART• .Egyptian art work consisted of paintings, sculpture and architecture
• Most art work was from the lower Nile Valley from about 5000 BCE to 300 AD
• Pyramids
• Tombs
• Relief sculptures
• Paintings
• Mastabas
• Most structures like Mastabas were made out of mud brick
