A Civic University
• Established 1825, a small mechanics college
• Liverpool Polytechnic, post 1992 University, strong vocational base
• LJMU employs 3,000 staff and has 25,000 students studying from a range of 250 degree courses
• 13 research centres, four research institutes, and 550 postgraduate research students, we are ranked in the top 25 English universities for PhD completion rates
• £160 million invested over the past 10 years on award-winning buildings and improving existing facilities for all students

• The Times Higher Education Table of Excellence: placed 61 out of 128 universities
• LJMU has jumped 29 places up the Guardian’s University League table 2014 - now ranked 69th in the UK
• For Business Engagement ranked 41st in the UK for value for contract research, 48th for CPD for business and community, 51st for collaborative research
• £250 million invested on Cutting-edge technology and facilities, many unique in the UK and Europe
• Appointing inspiring academics to support our research and teaching as part of a significant investment in scholarship, learning and research
