As we reach the end of a long Term 1 I would like to thank our staff for the huge effort they have put into supporting our students during Term 1. We have had significant challenges with unexpected staff absences. Everybody has stepped up to ensure routines have continued as close as possible to normal. It has been nice to be able to celebrate the end of a challenging term with some silly socks and crazy hair today. Looking forward to seeing you all on the streets of Nambucca tomorrow for the Easter Hat Parade. Breakfast Program We still need more parents to support with our breakfast program. If you are able to give us an hour in the morning from 8am - 9am on Thursday please have a chat to the ladies in the front office. Currently students are not receiving the breakfast program on Thursday morning and we would love to include this opportunity within our school week. You will need to provide a working with children check number.

Our Student Leadership Wellbeing Team work with students to organise activities to enhance the wellbeing of students. Last week we had the kindies do a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) challenge. They were writing their names using match sticks. This task tested their spelling and fine motor skills. We asked a couple of kindies what was their favourite part. Willa - What did you like about it? Chloe - About that I always like to play with sticks. Meg - What was the hardest part of the challenge? Taylarnnii - It was tricky to write the letters. Willa - Tell us what you did? Erik - I had to write my name with sticks. I was good at it. Meg - What did you like about writing you name? Tyler - It was fun and I liked doing it. Willa - Was it fun and tricky? Ashton - Yes it was fun and I didn't have help to write my name (yes I did). Meg - Who did you do it with? Alyssa - I did it with my friends. We thought it was really tricky. Willa - What did you do? Vincent - I had to write my name. I thought it was easy. I would love to do another challenge again.

All kindies - THANKS WELLBEING TEAM

SPORTING NEWS

Football/Soccer State Knockout Last Friday the girls and boys football/soccer teams walked to Coronation Park to play their state knockout round against Frank Partridge VC. The girls worked very hard to support each other and teach each other positional play. It was the first game of soccer for many of the girls and they came away keen to learn more and develop their skills further. An amazing goal keeping job from Saffron, a strong back line and four goals scored from Jada and Reece set the team up for a 4-2 win against their opposition. Congratulations to: Roxanne Donovan, Chloe McCarthy, Jada Rogers, Anna-Lee Jarrett-Crooks, Saffron Knight, Tarli Davies, Reese Legend, Nickel Lambie, Alyssa-Ivy Anson, Samara Davies, Layla Weaver, Halo Campbell on an outstanding team performance. The next round will be played early next term against Bellingen Public School.

State Swimming Today we have three talented students travelling south to compete at the NSW State Swimming Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Thursday. Miaa Luke, Ashley Mitcham and Lexie Brown will be taking on the state's best in the 50m Freestyle. Lexie will then back up and compete in the 50 Backstroke and 100m freestyle. We are very proud of the girls and their achievements and wish them well and safe travelling. Have fun and enjoy swimming in the huge pool where the Olympics were held!

District Netball Trials Last Thursday six girls travelled to Macksville for the District Netball Trials. All girls excelled on the day and worked hard to demonstrate their passing, catching and positional play. Daisy was unfortunate to narrowly miss selection. Congratulations to Ava Hodnett Daly, Laila Heighington, Erin Eadie, Grace Noonan and Paige Jackson who gained selection and will now travel to the Mid North Coast Netball trials early next term.

Mid North Coast Rugby League Trials Last Thursday Tully Pope, Taj Bateman and Trey Sampson travelled to Coffs Harbour to participate in the MNC Rugby League Trials. Competition was very strong and the boys tried hard through out the day but were unfortunate to miss selection. Great job boys.

Cross Country Keep training for the Cross Country over the holidays. Get mum and dad to take you to the park, beach or paddock and keep running. Juniors need to run 2km and seniors 3km.

National Athletics In 2019, the School Sport Australia Primary Schools Athletics Championships will be held in Darwin from Wednesday 18 to Monday 23 September 2019. As a result the NSWPSSA State Athletics Championships scheduled for 6-7

November 2019 will not be the selection trial for the NSW team to head to

Darwin. An alternate selection trial, to select the state team will occur on Thursday 8 August at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre. Student applications must be submitted to https://app.education.nsw.gov.au/sport/Events/View?eventId=6094&subEventId=6095 Students must be 10-12 years of age. See Mrs Fenning if you need help.
