A weekly activity that will encourage 5-11 year olds to think about how they can use their
creative talents to worship and listen to God.
Who Are We? My name is Shona Hunter-Singh and I am currently the Children’s and Family Worker at Gold Hill Baptist Church in Chalfont St Peter. In a typical week we love to connect with children and families from our village and beyond. Due to the worlds current situations, meeting in person has had to stop for the time being. However, this doesn’t mean that we don’t want to continue connecting with our community. Over the next season we will be uploading different resources to our website for 0-11s and families at:
goldhill.org/kidszone
Here you will also find a weekly plan for the different things we will be uploading or doing virtually that you would be more that welcome to join. You are also able to contact myself directly at
How it Works
In March 2020 we began a group which allowed children between the
ages of 5-11 to explore how they can use their creative talents in worshipping and listening to God.
Over the next few weeks we will be uploading a weekly activity that we
pray will allow this to continue at home. These won’t just be art based but will also vary each week.
We would love to see the creations you come up with. If you are on
Instagram or Facebook please do tag Gold Hill Baptist Church. Or email me on the address above!
Worship Activity:
This week’s activity is a bit different. On the next page I have put the chords for the song ‘Raise a Hallelujah’ by Bethel. First, read the words and think about what they mean, you might want to talk to someone else too. There are different ways we can worship God. It may be through art and when you read the words you can create something. However, another thing we can do is use our musical talents whether that be playing an instrument or singing. One of our worship leaders at Gold Hill (Will) has recorded the song with the same chords on the next page if you want to worship by playing along or singing along! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xp8FerSL7irccIy8-cOq2LHOcEoA53UH/view?usp=sharing If you want to have a go at using your God given talents to sing, you could use this link which doesn’t have other voices in it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTloHo0zIO0
Bible Study:
Psalm 150:1-6 Praise the LORD!
Praise God in his Temple; praise him in his mighty heaven.
2 Praise him for his strength; praise him for his greatness.
3 Praise him with trumpet blasts; praise him with harps and lyres.
4 Praise him with tambourines and dancing; praise him with stringed instruments and flutes.
5 Praise him with loud cymbals; praise him with crashing cymbals.
6 Let everything that breathes praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
1. What do you think the word ‘praise’ means? 2. Why do we praise God? 3. How do we praise God? 4. Do you think that sometimes it is hard to ‘praise’? 5. If there were people that found it hard to praise God, what would you say to
them?
Prayer Dear God,
Thank you that you are with us all the time. Thank you that you have given us lots of different gifts and talents. We pray that you help us use them to praise you! You are amazing God.
Amen.
What has God been saying to you?
Praising God is SO powerful! Whatever happens in our lives, whether it is good or bad we should keep praising God! Even though things around us change, God never changes. He is always good! Has he reminded you of anything? Maybe, He has given you a name of someone or something else! Why not make a note of these things and pray about what God is saying to you today.
