Mukesh, 4 years, male from Himachal Pradesh
referred by Rotary Club of Mandi was admitted for
open heart surgery at FEHI, New Delhi on 27 March
2017. Child underwent procedure on 8 April 2017.
Child’s parent is daily labourer. Rtn Dharmender Rana
coordinated the project.
Mehak Mandal, 10 months, female from Delhi was
referred by PDG Rtn Rajesh Batra of D3011. Mehak
was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 27 March 2017.
Child was operated on 1 April 2017. Mehak belongs to
economically deprived family.
Lakshmi, 3.3 years, female, Jammu and Kashmir,
referred by Rtn KK Langer of Rotary Club of Rajouri
was admitted at FEHI on 20 March 2017 and was
operated on 1 April 2017.
Diksha, 7 years, female referred by Rtn DN Sharma
of Rotary Club of Udhampur was admitted at NHI,
New Delhi on 27 April 2017. Child underwent open
heart surgery on 29 March 2017
Florence, 6 months, female referred by Rotary Club of
Batala Midtwon (Rtn Yogesh Goel), through DG Rtn
Sarbjeet Singh was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 20
March 2017. She underwent surgery for PDA. She
belongs to Rai Chak village in Teh Dera Baba Nanak
Tehsil of Gurdaspur District of Punjab. She is from
economically disadvantaged family.

Mohd Reyan, 7 years, male, Batote, Ramban, Jammu &
Kashmir referred by Rtn DN Sharma of Rotary Club of
Udhanpur was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 14 March
2017. The child underwent surgery and discharged after
recuperation.
Hussain Mondal, 12 years, male, Perumbavoor, Kerala
referred by Rotary Club of Cochin West was admitted
at AIMS Kochi on 7 March 2017. He underwent Aortic
valve repair on 9 March and upon recuperation
discharged on 18 March 2017. He belongs to a migrant
labour family from Bengal.
Kuljot Singh, 2 years, male, Punjab, referred by Rotary
Club of Admapur through GOL Coordinator Rtn KK
Langer was admitted at FEHI on 6 March 2017. The
child hailing from Bal Hukmi, Teh. Nakodar, Distt
Jalandhar, Punjab lives with his mother Manjit Kaur
who got separated from her husband Kuldip Singh.
Fathimath Zakayath, 8 years, female, Kasarkod,
referred by RC Nileshwar, D3202 was admitted at
AIMS Kochi on 3 March 2017. She was requiring BT
Shunt under CPB with atrial septectomy. She
underwent procedure on 6 March and after
recuperation discharged from hospital on 17 Mar 17.
Amandeep, 7 years, female, Punjab referred by Rotary
Club of Adampur through Rtn KK Langer, Coordinator,
GOL, North-West was admitted at NHI on 7 March 2017.
NHI did PDA Ligation and major defect of Subaortic
Membrane Excision (an abnormal obstruction below the
aortic valve) on 11 March 2017. She belongs to village
Ashahoor, Tehsil Philaur, District Jalandhar, Punjab.
Tanvi Thakur, 3.5 years, female referred by Rtn DN
Sharma, GOL Coordinator, was admitted at FEHI on 6
March 2017. After surgery and recuperation, she was
discharged on 11 April 2017.

on 27 February 2017. Child underwent open heart
surgery on 8 March and discharged from hospital on 8
April 2017. She belongs to economically deprived family
at Sonawari,Tehsil Bandipore, Kashmir
Yasmeen Gujar, 12 years, female, Kandi, Kupwara,
Jammu and Kashmir referred by Rtn KK Langer was
admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 20 February 2017. She
underwent open heart surgery on 6 March 2017.
Zuber, 3 years, Male, Jammu & Kashmir, referred by
Rtn KK Langer, GOL Coordinator was admitted at
FEHI, New Delhi on 27 Feburary 2017. He belongs to
Karmola, Tehsil Tral, District Pulwama, Kashmir. He
was operated on 7 March and discharged on 10 April 17
Shivanand, 8 months, male, Kasargod referred by RC
Nileshwar (Rtn P..E.Shajith) was admitted on 19
February 2017 at AIMS Kochi. Child underwent open
heart surgery (AV canal repair) on 21 February 2017.
Child was discharged on 3 March.
Shahid Ishtaq, 8 months, male, Srinagar, Jammu &
Kashmir referred by Rtn KK Langer was admitted at
FEHI, New Delhi on 20 February 2017. He belongs to
KP Baugh, Srinagar, Kashmir. He underwent open heart
surgery (VSD closure) on 27 February 2017 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Children not only from all parts of India but also from
Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Nigeria, El Salvador, Sri
Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan underwent open heart surgeries under Gift of Life project. There is zero administrative
cost for this project. The unique characteristic of this project is that there is human touch, element of sacrifice,
concern for the less privileged, social justice to the
unfortunate and human welfare.
Kalsi, 8 years, female, Udhampur medical camp (Rtn DN
Sharma of RC Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir) was
admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 6 February 2017. She
was operated on 13 Feb and discharged on 03 March 17.
Dongsang Tamang, 11 months, male referred by Rtn Bina
Sharma of Rotary Club of Gangtok South. Sikkim, was
admitted on 6 February 2017. Rtn Kiron Joshi,
Coordinator, North East also extended cooperation.
Child underwent VSD closure surgery on 14 Feb 17
Parents of the child Phurba Tamang and Suk Rani Subba
are from South Sikkim and are farmers.
Amrita Rajeev, 10.5 years, male referred by Rotary Club
of Kuttiadi, Calicut D3202 (Dr D Sachith) was admitted at
AIMS Kochi on 5 Feb. Device closure procedure was
done on 6 Feb 2017. Chid was discharged on 8 February.
Mrudala Muraleedharan, 10 years, male, referred by
Rotary Club of Nedumkandam East Hills through Rtn
EM Varghese was admitted at AIMS Kochi on 14
February 2017. ASD surgical closure was done on 17
Feb and discharged from hospital on 23 Feb 2017
Tanu Devi, 2 years, female, referred by Rotary club of
Udhampur through Rtn DN Sharma, GOL Coordinator
was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 13 February 2017.
She underwent surgery on 28 February 2017.
Vansh, 3 years, male referred by Rotary Club of
Bareilly North through GOL Coordinator PDG Rtn
PP Singh was admitted at AIIMS, New Delhi on 2
February 2017. Child underwent open heart
surgery on 3 Feb 2017.
Basil Maju, 3 month, male referred by Rotary Club
of Piravom Pampakuda River Valley was admitted at
AIMS Kochi on 28 Jan 2017. He underwent open
heart surgery on 30 January 2017. Child was
discharged on 13 February 2017 after recuperation.
Nidhi Thakur, 4.6 years, male, Jammu and Kashmir
referred by Rtoary Club of Rajouri (Rtn KK Langer)
was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 30 January,
operated on 6 February and discharged on 27 Feb
2017 after recuperation. She belongs to Bhangal,
District Reasi, J&K.
Abish Balgotra, 3 years, male, Udhampur Medical
Camp, through Rtn DN Sharm, Coordinator, GOL
was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 23 January
2017. Child underwent surgery on 25 January 2017.
Ifla Imtiyaz, 11 years, female, Kashmir referred by Rtn
KK Langer, GOL Coordinator was admitted at NHI,
New Delhi on 23 January 2017. She was operated on 25
January 2017. She hails from Chitragam, Tehsil
Wadipora, District Shopian, Kashmir.
Uzair, 14 months, male, Jammu and Kashmir referred
by Rtn KK Langer was admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on
23 January 217. He was discharged from hospital on 20
Feb after total recuperation. He belongs to Tangdhar in
Kupwara Dist of Jammu and Kashmir. He was given
admission date earlier but due to heavy snowfall, that
area was cut off from road connectivity to Kashmir then
Harman Kumar, 8 years, male referred by Rotary Club
of Admapur (Rtn Vicky Sharma) Rotary Club Adampur,
Jallandhar, through Rtn KK Langer was admitted at
SCH, New Delhi on 17 January, operated for VSD on
18 Jan and discharged from hospital on 23 Jan 2017.
Child comes from Hazara, Jalandhar, Punjab.
Pooja Devi, 8 years, female, Jammu & Kashmir
(Udhampur medical camp) was admitted at FEHI, New
Delhi on 16 Jan 2017 and was operated on 19 Jan 2017
Sagar, 10 years, male, Udhampur medical camp
(Coordinator Rtn DN Sharma) was admitted at FEHI,
New Delhi on 2 January 2017. After successful open
heart surgery on 4 February 2017, the child was
discharged from hospital.

to undergo open heart surgeries in India

Rotary Clubs of Masindi (Uganda Dist 9211)
Udhampur, Rajouri, Mandi, Gangtok South,
Giridih, Delhi East End (all from India), Sao Jose do
Rio Preto Alvorada (Brazil), Algiers (New Orleans),
Gift of Life New Jersey and Gift of Life
International are joining hands to save lives of 10
children from Uganda by arranging open heart
surgery in India under Global Grant support. The
children are expected to arrive in India in
June/July 2017 for undergoing open heart
surgeries to cure their congenital heart diseases.
Vivek Kumar, 8 years, male, referred by Rotary Club of
Jallandhar West through PDG Rtn SPS Grover was
admitted at SCH, New Delhi on 11 January, operated on
12 Jan and discharged on 17 January respectively.
Abrar, 10 years, male, Udhampur medical camp
(Coordinator Rtn DN Sharma) was admitted at FEHI,
New Delhi on 2 January, operated on 9 Jan and
discharged after recuperation on 27 January 2017.
Vaigha Lakshmi, 1 year, female, referred by RC
Badagara Central RID 3202 was admitted at AIMS,
Kochi on 2 January 2017. She was operated on 9 Jan
and discharged from hospital on 16 January 2017.

Sourabh, 15 years, male, Udhampur medical camp (Rtn
DN Sharma, Coordinator, GOL, RC Udhampur) was
admitted at FEHI, New Delhi on 9 January, operated on
16 January and discharged on 11 Feb 2017 after
recuperation.

Rotarians from one of the “Gift of Life
Rotarian Joao Passos Nogueira Filho, Charter President
of Rotary Sao Jose do Rio Preto Alvorada, Brazil,
accompanied by Rotarian Zuleica Tiwa Ivamotto and
Rotarian Ciro Goda visited Gift of Life program in India.
They visited AIMS Kochi on 7 February 2017 and met
GOL children, their parents, Doctors and staff of hospital
and Coordinators. In the evening, they attended special
meeting organised at Hotel Fern, Ernakulum by Rotary
Clubs of Greater Cochin, Cochin Queen City, Cochin
International, Cochin Lords, Cochin North and Cochin
Knights. On 9th February, they attended meeting
organised by Rotary Club of Piravom River Valley. Gift of
Life thanks DG Rtn Dr Prakash Chandran, Dist Gen Secy
Rtn Mathew, Rtn Algiers Khalids, Rtn Essa Gaffar and
other Rotarians who extended assistance.
