Dear Glamour Girls & Guys,
As we approach the end of the seminar year, I am thinkingabout the difference between dreams and goals. We all havedreams in life--things wed love to see happen. Some of ushave dreams to retire early, buy a special gift for a familymember--like paying for college or buying your husband hisdream car (or maybe your own pink Cadillac). Many of ushave a dream of traveling the world, not having to work, orreaching a certain level of achievement like Director or National Sales Director.
The difference between Dreamers and Achievers is settinggoals, creating the track to run on, and then taking the firststep towards success. So many people have dreams but donot focus on the process necessary to achieve thosedreams. They dream of losing weight but dont change theirdiet or exercise to achieve their goal of a healthy, happybody--so it remains a dream.
Often consultants tell me they love my free car--its a car oftheir dreams. The question is, How do you plan on makingyour dream come true? If you take the time--think throughand map a plan of ACTION. you can drive free. It is Just aProcess! The same holds true for a Red Jacket,Directorship, and even traveling the world. Any goal without aprocess is just a dream. Since many, many consultants haveachieved what you desire, it is PROOF it can be done!!
One other great thing about figuring out your process is thatoften youll find MANY of your dreams will become a realityin the process. Henry Ford was asked by a reporter what hewould do if he lost his billion dollar fortune and he replied,Id have it back in less than five years. He had figured outwhat things he needed to do to become successful, andthat process would work again. In Mary Kay we know theprocess--book, coach, sell and recruit. By practicing, figuringout your strengths, and then consistently doing the thingsyou know to do, youll be a success on your own time table.

Some Consultants & Directors seem to have the golden touch, don't they? It's not luck; it's
creating a simple system to give you the edge. • LEARN. Grab hold of everything you can
about this business: Applause magazine, your consultant guide, unit meetings, workshops. Write copious notes, even if you KNOW IT: it will enable you to teach your future team!
• WRITE IT DOWN. Once you hear something valuable, record it immediately; don't trust your memory.
• START A LOG BOOK. Use a notebook or your computer to create places to store all your tips. Divide this into categories e.g. bookings, interviews, class ideas, etc.
• REVIEW. Set aside 15 minutes each day to review your notes.
• PRACTICE. Try out new ideas on friends and customers. Tape yourself and give a copy to me to review your technique.
• PERSEVERE. It is a well known fact that it takes about 21 days for a new habit to become ingrained.

Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude towards life. The longer I live, the more convinced I
