Giant Giraffes

Do you know what giraffes eat? The giraffe is a herbivore they like to eat leaves, leaf buds,
fruit, grass, corn and other plants.
Their favorite food is thorny trees.
The giraffe spends most of its time chewing or nibbling on leaves.
Do you know what giraffes look like?
The giraffe is a mammal and they are the tallest animal in the world.
The female or cow is 14 or 15 feet tall. The male or bull is 17 or 18 feet tall.
The giraffe has brown patches on them.
Do you know how many different kinds of giraffes there are? Here are
some. The Angolan
The Nigerian
The Nubian
The Masia
The Southern
The Reticulated
The Thorneycroft’s or the Baringo the Rothschild
How long does a giraffe sleep?
The giraffe only needs 30 minutes a sleep a day.
They only sleep 5 to 10 minutes at a time though.
Have you ever seen a giraffes neck before?
The male giraffe uses his neck as a weapon.
There are records of broken jaws, necks or even death.
A necking war can last up to 30 minutes.
What is a giraffes behavior like?
It’s very hard for a giraffe to get up once it has been kneeled down on its knees.
The giraffe can gallop up to 35 miles per hour.
When the giraffe goes to eat they close their nose so they don’t get poked.
What does a giraffes’ habitat look like?
Giraffes live in parts of Asia, Europe and Africa.
The giraffe lives in places with not a lot of trees.
They also live in grassy and dry places too.
