Ghost Pillow
Ghost PillowApproximate Finished Size: 8" x 10"
Cuddle® Basics1. Mark measurements or trace
around template pieces on reverse side of Cuddle® with a felt tip marker or ballpoint pen.
2. Cut with a rotary cutter, craft knife, or scissors.
3. Shake cut pieces or put in a no-heat dryer with a damp washcloth for a few minutes to remove loose fibers.
4. Sew with polyester thread in the top and the bobbin.
5. Reduce presser foot pressure when sewing multiple layers.
6. Use a stitch length of 2.5–3 mm.
7. Double pin by using 2 rows of pins—the first row every 1½" along the seam line and a second row 1" to the left and parallel to the cut edge.
8. Backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam.
9. Seam allowances are ½" unless otherwise noted.
10. Use an even-feed or walking foot, if possible. It makes a difference!
Finishing1. Turn the pillow right side out.2. Stuff as desired. Note: Take care to get the stuffing
into the arms and the top of the head. Use a chopstick or point turner to help position the polyfill.
3. Pin the turning gap closed. Hand sew with a ladder stitch.
Ladder Stitch: Use polyester thread and a hand sewing needle to catch one side of the opening, then the other. Tighten every few stitches.
DIRECTIONS Read Cuddle® Basics before beginning.Seams are 1/4", unless noted.
Preparation1. Print the Ghost template
at 100%.2. Cut out the template on the
outer line.3. From Cuddle® 3 Snow, cut:
• 1 (12" x 20") rectangle.4. With a felt tip or ballpoint pen,
trace the Body template on the wrong side of the Cuddle®. Mark the dots for the turning gap as well. Do not cut the fabric.
5. Using a contrasting thread, machine baste on the traced line of the Ghost.
Note: This thread tracing provides the information needed for the placement of the appliqués.
6. From Black Cuddle®, cut: • 2 Eye appliqués. • 1 Mouth appliqué.
AssemblyAdd the appliqués1. Spray baste the back of the Eye
and Mouth appliqués.2. With the nap running down,
arrange the Eyes and Mouth on the Ghost Front as shown on the template. Smooth into place.
Note: If desired, work with one appliqué at a time.
3. Zigzag or blanket stitch around the edge of each appliqué.
Tip: Use black thread for appliqués.4. Fold the Body rectangle in half,
right sides together.5. Double pin
around the traced edge.
6. Begin stitching at the start of the turning gap. Stitch on the line around the Ghost. Stop at the second marked dot. Backstitch at both ends.
7. Trim around the Ghost 1/2" from the sewn line.
