An Interdisciplinary Teaming of Teachers

GHI is a 9-11th grade interdisciplinary program revolving around an idea-driven curriculum.

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” ~ Thoreau

This liberal arts program explores the historical, philosophical and artistic influences that shape our world. Students study influential thinkers,

philosophers, writers, scientists and historians from Western and Non-Western cultures.

Students are helped to understand multiple perspectives in analyzing texts. Course components will provide students

with a clear understanding of the importance of citizenship, democracy and governance in modern world societies.

Students who enjoy unique ways to approach learning through open discussion and creative interpretation of a variety of readings will enjoy this program choice.

An Interdisciplinary Teaming of Teachers

The HU/NM Program focuses on a liberal arts curriculum that incorporates fine art, digital media and film production in a project-based interdisciplinary team-taught approach.

The HU/NM teachers encourage extensive class discussion, oral and written responses to the reading as well as group presentations in a very supportive and nurturing environment.

Humanitas promotes student inquiry through project-based assessments that draw on content area knowledge from English, Social Studies, Science and Visual Arts.

This program is designed for the student who enjoys challenging work and desires to collaborate with other students in investigative and research teams and readily engages in group and class discussions

A foundational math and science program

The STEM Program began when the GHCHS MST Magnet Program was cancelled by LAUSD Spring 2010. Due to student, parent and community interest the original MST program has been expanded to include engineering.

Based on personal interest students can select the STEM Program upon enrollment.

The STEM program is strongly supported by our established partnership with CSUN and other sponsors in development.

Career exposure and enrichment activities are integral to the Program.

Stem Program students are clustered into a unique community of teachers committed to providing students with the foundation skills in mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics for success in higher level math and science coursework.

The STEM Program offers a rigorous four-year 9-12th foundational math and science curriculum. The program is designed for students interested in related careers and college majors in math, science, engineering and technology.
