A Collect forClub Women Keep us, oh God, from pettiness; Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault-finding And leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense And meet each other face to face, Without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment And always generous.
Let us take time for all things; Make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses, Straight forward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is The little things that create differences, That in the big things of life we are at one.
And may we strive to touch and to know The great, common human heart of us all.
And oh Lord God, let us forget not To be kind!
—Mary Stewart April 1941

Thank You, Ladies!
May I say “thank you” to all you ladies who were so co- operative when I pleaded for information? Without you, this project would not have been completed as quickly and thoroughly. It has been my pleasure to work on this GFWC Texas Directory, and my hope is that you will use this as your guide in your GFWC/GFWC Texas activities.

Welcome to the GFWC Texas 2020-2022 Administration.
Your President would like to thank all of you who attended
the GFWC Texas Spring Convention in Corpus Christi.
During our convention we acknowledged the beginning of a
new tag line “COVID19”. This isn’t the way your presi-
dent dreamed her administration would start, but we have
risen above the pandemic! We have learned to Zoom and
touched the world of technology. When it comes to GFWC
Texas members we will not let anything hold us back from
doing what Federation Women have done for the last 130
years. Your President is so proud that our women have stepped up and still continue to help
make the world a better place.
The future is different but we will be stronger and better for it. All communities will know that
nothing stops GFWC Texas members from helping their communities.
My pledge was to visit every club in the state of Texas and this officer will work hard to keep
that promise by attending club meetings and meeting you and your members. The last two ad-
ministrations emphasized working as a Team. Teamwork will continue during my administra-
tion and will be a top priority making sure the Executive Committee attends as many of your
important events as possible. This President looks forward to when we can all meet together for
GFWC Texas events and working hard to continue making the world a better place.
My project is Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention—Helping our Children
and Women in the Military, you will be receiving information on a statewide project to involve
everyone during the spring convention. My theme Volunteerism—For Home and Country, co-
incides with my President’s Project and will further clubs abilities to help the military families
abroad and at home.
We must continue to make membership our number one priority! If every member would ask
one person to join their club, we would double our membership. We have placed a lot of em-
phasis on Juniorette and Junior Clubs. Ladies, the youth is our future. We have a wonderful
Juniorette Chairman, please give her a call and let her help you to organize a Juniorette Club in
your community.
Your 61st GFWC Texas President has enjoyed her Federation journey and intends to continue
for many more years to come. Let’s make the GFWC Texas 2020-2022 Administration one to
remember.

The only president of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs to hale from Texas. 1912-1916
Mrs. Percy V. Pennybacker
TFWC DISTRICT PAST PRESIDENTS 1902-1960
Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs was founded in 1897, joined GFWC in 1899 and by 1902 had devised a sys- tem whereby all of the clubs in the great state of Texas could be fairly represented. The state was divided into five districts and each of the five had its own governing body with district presidents serving as Vice Presidents of TFWC. As the organization grew so did the need for more districts. In 1915 a sixth district was added, followed by a sev- enth in 1923. With this addition the district presidents no longer served as Vice Presidents of TFWC, but remained members of the Board of Directors. An eighth district was added in 1936 and in 1960 the state was realigned to include 14 districts bearing the names Alamo, Capitol, Caprock, Heart of Texas, Key, Magnolia, Mesquite, Pioneer, San Jacinto, Santa Rosa, South Tex- as, Top of Texas, Trinity, and Western. With the dissolving of Heart of Texas and Santa Rosa Districts in 2004 and 2006, the number of districts in Texas dropped to twelve. A complete listing of district presidents serving after 1960 can be found in the individual dis- trict directory pages.

“Serving Those Who Serve”
There are many individuals liv- ing in our communities who
deserve acknowledgement for the many jobs they perform
every day with little to no recognition. Projects could include but are certainly not limited to Personnel serving as active duty military, Veter-
ans, First Responders (including Police Department, County Sheriff Department,
Fire Department, Highway Pa- trol, US Customs & Border
Protection, Game Wardens), and School District Staff. This list is certainly not exhaustive
and open to anyone in the Clubwomen’s communities they choose to recognize.

CAPITOL DISTRICT PRESIDENT’S SPECIAL PROJECT
Alzheimer’s Association
Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease. I know this from first hand experience—my mother, sister, and two aunts have all died from this illness.
Mother was diagnosed at 64 and died at 72. My sister was diagnosed at 63 and died at 68.
My aunts lived to 75 and 78.
Mother was a vegetable for the last three years of her life. This is why I have made this me Capitol District President’s Special Project. Three million cases are identified in the US each year. Treatment can help, but there is no cure. Alzheimer’s does not affect everyone in the same way. For more information, please go to www.alz.org, or call 1-800-272-3900. Heroes Among Us . . .
For my theme, I chose Heroes
Among Us . . from helping the
homeless to the military. I chose
this theme because I wanted to
honor the people in our society
that do so much and give so much
but often do not get the respect
and credit they deserve. With
programs and nice gestures,
to these local heroes within the
next two years of my administra-
tion. With respect and admira-
tion, Caprock will recognize these
"Heroes Among Us."

MAGNOLIA DISTRICT PRESIDENT’S SPECIAL PROJECT
The Ladies of Magnolia District are "Touching Lives and Making a Difference" in their clubs, community and world ... especially in the lives of our children. I have chosen as my District President's Special Project:
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
Founder and entertainer Danny Thomas opened the doors to St. Jude in 1962 with the dream that "no child should die in the dawn of life." His vision has touched lives in a powerful way ... and they need our help to continue providing this wonderful cancer research and treatment for our critically-ill children and their families.
M Members are A Always G Giving of themselves, N Never excluding or O Over- L Looking potential, I Including & encouraging A All willing to serve.
