Gas Eye - Medical Gas Alarm System
e eG y
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System is a
microprocessor based alarm, intended to
show current pressures levels and digital
inputs status, and provide a visual and vocal
alarm in case of deviation of ±20% of the
nominal medical gas pressure from defined
values or when vacuum reaches below 350
mBar.
The purpose of the Geye Medical Gas Alarm
System is to notify both the technical and
the clinical staff that one or more sources of
supply within a supply system are no longer
available for use and it is essential that action
be taken.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System uses
information signals to indicate normal and
abnormal status. To facilitate the monitoring
status by hospital personnel, all gases and
vacuum are displayed either with green
7-seg display (Local Modules) or with three
color led lamps (Area Modules), for clear
visibility during day and night. The leds
indicate the direction of the gas / vacuum
pressure. Under normal conditions, the gas
trend indicator is Green, indicating Normal
mode. If the gas pressure approaches alarm
condition, the trend indicator is displayed in
Orange, indicating Caution mode. If an alarm
condition occurs, a Red alarm indicator is
displayed and an audible alarm is heard at
the same time.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System
monitors and displays normal and alarm
conditions from up to 4 Local medical gases
or up to 20 Area medical gas conditions
signal in various combinations.
All Local medical gas modules are equipped
with two types of sensors, one for Upstream
pressure (HIGH) and one for Downstream
pressure (LOW) of the same monitored gas
(only one pressure sensor for downstream in
vacuum modules).
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System uses
gas specific transducers with universal 4-20
mA output, which enables using a wide
range of possible shelf products.
Digital LED readout reflecting a maximum
range of either 0-20 Bar for downstream and/
or 0-250 Bar for upstream service, and 0-999
mBar for vacuum.
Pressing the “Mute” button cancels the
audible alarm. Nevertheless, the unit
remains in alarm condition until the problem

e eG yMedical G as Alarm System
is rectified. If the problem is rectified
automatically, the alarm is cancelled, yet a
technician is able to view the causes of the
problems. The system is adjusted to repeat
the alarm every 15 minutes, according to
standards requirements.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System can be
used in a Master-Slave configuration, with a
maximum of two Slaves or 10 Report Alarms
per Master.
Each Area alarm module monitors up to 5
alarm points, either Normally Opened or
Normally Closed. Each point represents an
alarm condition which a source equipment
may have. When an alarm condition occurs,
a Red light flashes and the audible alarm
sounds. If several alarm conditions occur
simultaneously, the most recent alarm light
flashes in the specific module as well as in
the master module, while the other alarm
lights remains lit.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm System is
field-programmable, using several internal
press-buttons or using a Human Machine
Interface, which is supplied along with the
system, for adjustment of High and Low
set-points on the display for each individual
gas service.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm Systems
comply with the requirements for
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and
Safety. The alarm systems are not affected
by electromagnetic energy which may be
emitted by other equipment in the area.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm Systems use
RF energy only for its internal function.
Therefore its RF Emissions are very low and
are not likely to cause any interference in
nearby Electromagnetic equipment.
The Geye Medical Gas Alarm Systems are
easy to use and include build-in interfaces
to facilitate communications from all panels
on-site to PC control in the Gas Centers.
External USB connection for local control
and setting and Internal RS 232 and RS 485
are available.
Alarm history data can be collected and
downloaded into a computer equipped with
proprietary PC Software and can be printed,
for administration analyzing.
