APPLICATIONSNexans AmerCable’s Type MMVmarine medium voltage cables are foruse aboard commercial ships, mobileoffshore drilling units (MODUs), andfixed or floating offshore facilities.

FEATURESn These cables utilize flexiblestranded conductors, braided shields and a braided armor (whenarmored) which make them verysuitable for applications involvingrepeated flexing and high vibration.

n These cables have a small minimum bending radius (6xOD for unarmored cables and 8xOD for armored cables) for easyinstallation.

n Optional uninsulated groundingconductors sized per UL 1072.

n The increased flexibility of this cable allows for termination of one end and coiling on multiple module offshore platforms. Then coiling andterminating other end when modulesare mated at sea thereby reducinginstallation time.

n Passes IEC 332-3 Category A and IEEE 1202 flame tests.

Conductor ShieldA combination of semi-conducting tape and extrudedthermosetting semi-conducting material meeting UL 1309, IEEE 1580 and UL1072.

Armor (optional)(Optional) 0.0126" bronze braid providing 88%minimum coverage meeting UL 1309 and IEEEStd. 45-1998.

JacketA black, arctic grade, flame retardant, oil, abrasion,chemical and sunlight resistant thermosettingcompound meeting UL 1309, IEEE 1580 and UL 1072. Colored jackets for signifying differentvoltage levels are also available on special request (ie.yellow = 5kV, orange = 8kV and red = 15kV).

Sheath (optional)A black, arctic grade, flame retardant, oil, abrasion,chemical, and sunlight resistant thermosettingcompound meeting UL 1309, IEEE 1580 and UL 1072. Metallic ShieldComposite shield consisting of 0.0126" tinned copper braided with nylon providing 60% copper Shieldedcoverage meeting UL 1309, IEEE Std. 1580 and UL 1072. The nylon is colored for easy phase identification (three conductor = black, blue, red) without the need toremove the shield to findan underlying colored tape.

Insulation ShieldSemi-conducting tape, with overlap, for fast and easytermination meeting UL 1309, IEEE 1580 and UL 1072.

APPLICATIONSA flexible, braid and foil shielded,power cable specifically engineered for use in medium voltage variable frequency AC drive (VFD) applications.

FEATURESn Flexible stranded conductors and

braided shields. Suitable for applications involving repeated flexing and high vibration.

n Small minimum bending radius (8x OD) for easy installation.

n Insulation has a very low dielectricconstant. This allows for longeroutput cable distances andminimizes common mode current.

n Overall braid plus foil shield is engineered with 100% coverage anda surface transfer impedance <50milliohms at 10MHz to contain EMI.

n Symmetrical insulated ground conductors reduce induced voltageimbalances and carry common mode noise back to the drive.

n High strand count conductors andbraid shield design is much more flexible, easier to install and moreresistant to vibration than Type MC cable.

n Severe cold durability: exceeds CSA cold bend/cold impact (-40˚C/-35˚C).

n Flame retardant: IEC 332-3 Category A and IEEE 1202.

n Suitable for use in Class I, Division 1, and Zone 1 environments.
