Gettysburg Fire Department
Uniform Policy
� All past Fire Chief’s will receive a badge during the awards banquet indicating
Past Chief. * Note the department is responsible to purchase for all past and future
past chiefs.
� All past President’s will receive a badge during the awards banquet indicating
Past President. * Note the department is responsible to purchase for all past and
future past presidents.
� All firefighter of the year’s recipients past and future will receive a red bar as
indicated in section B-I. * Note the department is responsible to purchase for all
past and future award recipients.
� All Valor Award recipients past and future will receive a gold bar as indicated in
B-I. * Note the department is responsible to purchase for all past and future
award recipients.
� Note the only 2 positions to be recognized as past will be those said above.
Class A:
A. Hat: Bell Cap (Keystone Cap Company)
a. Non-ranking personnel will wear blue hat with silver band
i. Model R8

b. Fire Officers will wear white hat with gold band
i. Model R8A
c. Administrative Officers will wear blue hat with silver band
i. Model R8
d. Rain cover may be worn
e. Gettysburg Badge with single stud rank appropriate (Blackinton B-30
with an A2857 - ¾” insert with Firefighter written in the top and#1 at
the bottom.)
i. Non-ranking members with silver badge
ii. Administrative officers with silver badge (Blackinton B-30
with an A2857 - ¾” insert with appropriate rank written in the
top and#1 at the bottom.)

iii. Fire officers & Past Chief’s will wear rank-appropriate gold
Blackinton B-30; insert is to match collar brass with
appropriate title, and a 1 at the bottom.
B. Blouse Coat:
a. Navy Blue Double-Breasted Fetcheimer style 38804
b. Buttons will have the imprinted FD logo
c. Gettysburg Fire Department Patch on left shoulder, centered 1” below
seam
d. Members name plate on right breast pocket centered on top of pocket
on lower seam
i. Nameplate will be an A7239
ii. Non-ranking members are silver
iii. Administrative Officers are silver
iv. Fire officers with gold
e. 3/8” GFD collar brass on both collars
i. Outside corners 1” from point of collar, level
ii. Non-ranking personnel with silver
iii. Administrative Officers are silver
iv. Fire officers with gold

f. Non-ranking personnel’s coats will have silver buttons
g. Administrative Officers coats will have silver buttons
h. Fire officers & Past Fire Chief’s will wear silver buttons
i. Fire officers & Past Chief’s will have ½” gold stripes sewn
onto sleeve starting 3” from cuff, ¼” apart.
ii. Fire Chief & Past Chief 5 stripes
iii. Deputy Fire Chief 4 stripes
iv. Assistant Fire Chief 3 stripes
v. Captain 2 stripes
vi. Lieutenant 1 stripe
i. Administrative officers will wear silver brass and buttons; will also
wear regardless of rank one silver stripe around cuff 3” from end of
sleeve.
j. Medals and ribbons
1. Placed highest honor to lowest center over nameplate
(listed in order).

3. Firefighter of the year -- Blackinton A4616A solid red
bar with gold trim
4. Eugene S. Sickles Award – Blackinton A4616H white
with a star
C. Shirt:
a. Elbecco model 3319 long sleeve
i. Non-ranking wear French blue
ii. Current Fire officers wear white
iii. Administrative officers, Past Chiefs, & Past Presidents will
wear French blue
iv. Non-ranking wear silver FD scramble 1” centered from point
of collar. (Blackinton) 2886 15/16”
