● With your child, play a game of Simon Says. In this game, your child should only do what Simon says. Say, Simon Says, bounce a basketball. Your child should pretend to bounce a ball. Swing a bat. If your child pretends to swing a bat, say, Oh, I didn’t say Simon Says.

● Repeat the game several times using sport movements, like kick a soccer ball or swing a tennis racket.

MATERIALS: Large Letter O● Practice the letter O. Say, Make an O by

writing a curve around. Have your child say the letter O! Make the sound for O, like octopus. Finally, have your child trace the O with their finger.

● See how many uppercase O’s you can find together throughout the day!

● Don't worry if your child needs more time to learn the letter O!

Letter Talk: O

MATERIALS: crayons, paper, optional - Sports Coloring● Print or draw the images.● With your child, talk about different sports.● Have your child independently color the pictures,

then write about their favorite sport.● Later, ask, What is your favorite sport? Why is

__(sport)__ your favorite? How do you play __(sport)__?

MATERIALS: crayons, paper● Draw several circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles on a piece of paper. Tear them

or cut apart to make cards.● Together, play a matching game. Place the cards face down. Flip over two cards. If the

shapes match, say the shape name. Move the cards to the side. If the cards don’t match, flip them face down to use again.

● Then, have your child to take a turn. Play until all the shapes are matched.

MATERIALS: Go Outside and Play book, items from around the home, like crayons or string● Together, read Go Outside and Play. As you read, have your child point to and name the

shapes they see.● Then, use objects around the house, like crayons or string to create shapes.

● Say, I will give you two directions and you will do the two actions that I say. Give your child two movements, like clap once and touch your shoulders.

● Continue providing two-step directions.● Switch roles. Your child gives two movements, and you follow their

directions.

easy.● Have your child trace their name with their finger. ● Then, have your child independently trace their name using a crayon. ● Later, ask your child to identify the letters in their name. You can also add their last

name for more practice.

Independent Learning:My Name

MATERIALS: crayons, paper● Together, brainstorm a picture to draw, like a sport or activity.● With your child, draw the picture using different shapes. Ask, What shapes did you use in

your drawing? Can you point to the rectangles?

MATERIALS: paper, scissors, T-Chart● Print or draw a T-chart. At the top, label the columns - Long

and Short. Cut strips of paper into different lengths. ● With your child, compare two strips of paper. Say, Let’s

compare. This strip stops before the other one, so it’s shorter. I am going to put it under Short on my chart. Place the other strip under Long.

● Together, continue comparing and sorting strips of paper.

MATERIALS: music● Say, We are going to play a game called Freeze Dance and Follow.

When you hear the music, you can dance. When the music stops, freeze and listen for my direction.

● Dance with your child. Stop the music, freeze, and provide a direction, like touch your nose.

● Repeat several times.

writing down, over, over. Have your child say the letter F! Make the sound for F, like fire. Finally, have your child trace the F with their finger.

MATERIALS: paper plate, crayons, optional - paint● Together, look at pictures of different sports balls on

your phone.● Have your child independently draw and color a ball

of their choice, using a paper plate.● Later, ask. What ball did you draw? Why did you draw

a __(ball)__? Do you know how to play __(sport)__?

MATERIALS: paper, crayons, Shape Coloring● Print or draw the shapes.● Have your child color the shapes based on the provided directions.

For example, color all the rectangles green.● Later, point to a shape and ask, What shape is this?

Focus on square, circle, rectangle, and triangle.

draw?

MATERIALS: empty boxes or toys of different sizes● Say, Let’s put these boxes in order from the tallest to the shortest. If something is tall, it has a lot

of height. Point to a tall box. If something is short it doesn’t have much height. Point to a short box.● With your child, practice ordering boxes from tallest to shortest.

MATERIALS: paper, glue or tape, scissors● Cut the paper into strips. Create one loop using a paper strip and

tape.● Show your child your one loop. Say, Let’s make more loops to

create a chain. Together, make loops.● Before you add a loop, count how many are in the chain. Add to the

chain and count again.● Repeat until your chain reaches at least 10 loops.

Morning Connection: Following Directions at Home

MATERIALS: paper, crayon, small items, like buttons or Legos

● With your child, find a variety of items from home.

● Write an O and F each on a piece of paper. Have your child use the items to outline the letters.

● Clear the items to make the letters again.

Letter Talk: O and F

MATERIALS: paper, pencil, letter O’s, letter F’s● Have your child independently practice tracing the letters O and F. Use the provided

sheets or make letters of your own!● Your child can color in the provided pictures or draw and color ones they create (otter,

owl; fork, fox).● Later, ask, What letters did you write? Can you think of other words that start with

the same sound as otter? Can you think of other words that start with the same sound as fork?

MATERIALS: natural items● Take a walk to find natural items. Collect several of the same item, like leaves or small rocks.● With your child, practice counting the natural items. Say, Let’s count the __(item)__ we

collected. Help your child point to each item as they count.● Repeat, counting different items.
