PROVIDING CARE & BEARING WITNESS

For more than 30 years, MdM, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. it has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable impro-vements in health-for-all policies. those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.

HOME & ABROAD

MdM currently works in 46 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating hiV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.in France, MdM works for the most vulnerable people: mi-grants, drug users, sex workers, Roma communities,etc) with 20 healthcare, advice and referral clinics, and outreach activities.

Médecins du Monde seeks for:— A strong agreement to MdM’s values as an organisation

— An important motivation for the campaigning and its non-profit model

— Committed actors — the knowledge of foreign languages is prefered or

mandatory (English, Spanish, Arabic, Romanian,…)— A 6 months to 1 year availability (not including

emergency operations) is required for most of the expatriate positions

MéDECINS DU MONDE (MDM) – DOCTORS OF THE WORLDiNtERNAtiONAL SOLiDARitY MEDiCAL ORGANiSAtiON

MEDICAL & PARAMEDICAL pOSitiONS• MEDiCAL DOCtORSInternational: mainly provide training and supervision as well as health education and occasionally primary healthcare consultations.

In France: provide general and specialist medical consul-tations (obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, dermatology...) and carry out prevention activities.

At headquarters: support projects with methodology, planning and implementation.

On occasion, specialisms are sought: public health, community health, tropical diseases, psychiatry, management, operating theatre, anaesthetics, gynaecology-obstetrics and paediatrics…

• SURGEONSInternational: involvement in all types of assignment as care providers or trainers, especially for Opération Sourire.

• MiDwiVESInternational: mainly provide training and health education related to sexual and reproductive health.

In France: provide healthcare, health education and pre-vention activities related to sexual and reproductive health.

At headquarters: support projects with methodology, plan-ning and implementation.

• NURSESInternational:  mainly provide training and health education as well as primary healthcare, mental healthcare, vaccina-tions, pharmacy management.  

In France: provide care and prevention activities.

At headquarters: support projects with methodology, planning and implementation.

• CLiNiCAL-pSYChOLOGiStSInternational: usually involved with post emergency situations and mainly working on psychological trauma, their role is to train and mentor local health professionals. 

 In France: provide consultations, manage and monitor adoption cases.

• phARMACiStSInternational: ensure the establishment and correct ope-ration of a stock of medicines and medical material by supporting or training local staff.

In France: organise and supervise the management of the project’s pharmacy.

At headquarters: Ensure the quality of medical purchases and the organisation of the project’s pharmacy.

• SECRETARIESCarry out various secretarial tasks to ensure the adminis-trative, financial and organisational follow-up.

• TRANSLATORSSupport the teams and work directly with patients, using their foreign language skills to assist with the care of patients. 

• MANAGEMENT TEAMS At thE hEADQUARtERS

Strategy definition, coordination and implement all the project’s activities, team management, internal and exter-nal communication in operational and support functions Department.

• ALL SUPPORT SERVICESproject monitoring and management, advocacy, commu-nications / marketing, finance, accounting, it, legal, human resources...

NON-MEDICAL pOSitiONS

• ADMINISTRATORSSupervise, organise and manage the project’s hR, finance, accountancy, budgetary and administrative components.

• LOGISTICIANSOrganise living quarters and working conditions of the team, carry out logistical programmes (building, restoration, sanitation) and participate in the definition and implemen-tation of safety regulations. 

• RECEPTION STAFFwelcome, prioritise, inform, guide and conduct prevention activities. 

• SOCIAL WORKERSSupport the reception teams in their guidance activity and ensure that users are able to exercise their rights.

• GENERAL COORDiNAtORS / FiELD COORDiNAtORSInternational: as Head of the Mission, supervise and imple-ment all the project’s activities in the country or in a region: management of team, project planning and management, negotiation, representation to various partners and donors, contextual analysis and security of assets and people.

In France: ensure the implementation and operational management of programmes with respect to administra-tion, finance, HR and organisation. 

• MEDiCAL COORDiNAtORSInternational: in partnership with local stakeholders, ensure the design, implementation and operational mana-gement of access to healthcare programmes; they have the technical responsibility for the medical activities of a project or a program.

COORDINATION pOSitiONS

Coordinators can also work as flying coordinators on emer-gency or long-term operations. They are regularly assigned in the international field for short and specified missions.

At headquarters : conduct evaluations of existing pro-grammes, research and recommendations for future programmes, set up new missions and support the teams.

• ADMiNiStRAtiVE AND LOGiStiCS COORDiNAtORS, pROGRAM COORDiNAtORSInternational and in France: oversee and implement all the activities of a specific program or in their field of expertise: team management, project management and planning, negotiation and representation.

TO SUppOrT MéDEcINS DU MONDEOver half of MdM’s resources comes from donors’ generosity which allows us to intervene in a completely independent way. Médecins du Monde, declared of public utility, has the ability to receive bequests and life insurances and is exempted from all duties.

An information meeting, which is open to the public, takes place on the first Thursday of every month from 6pm to 8pm at our headquarters, situated at 62 rue Marcadet – paris 18th.
