To empower and advocate for Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders (AAPIs); and to provide AAPIs access to quality culturally, and linguistically appropriate information and services

Northeast Ohio; and the largest in the state.
ASIA has five (5) program area and one (1) FQHC clinic that are interconnected and comprehensive.

communication with clients who have Limited English
Speaking Proficiency

Key communication skills with persons with Limited English Speaker• Listen carefully
• Make your statements as specific as possible
• Let the person see your lips as you speak
• Don’t rush – be patient
• Use simple sentence structure
• Use body language to illustrate
• Use the vocabulary that the client has used
• Emphasize key words
• Make sure the client understands by having them restate what you said
• Use Pen and Notebook
