One: Sing a new song to God, who has done marvelous things. Many: God has spoken to us through a Child; let us all worship at the manger. One: Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. Many: God has given us a song to sing; let our voices soar with good tidings. One: With trumpet and lyre and joyous clapping, greet the One who judges the earth with equity. Many: God upholds the universe with love and meets us here with unending faithfulness.

* PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON / Screen Many: Loving God, our light, if ever there were a people who need your light, it is us. If ever there was a place where hope needed to be born, it is in the manger of our hearts. The work of your hands surrounds us, the miracle of your coming confronts us, but we remain weary of heart. We hear the songs of angels but cannot muster the joy to sing. You call us, like shepherds of old to your manger to worship, but our minds wander. Merciful Jesus the Christ, who never tires of loving us, intervene in our history once more. Forgive our complacency. Come, be born in our hearts anew, that your light might blaze through our lives, that nations might gather at your manger, and that your name might be exalted in all the earth. Amen.

YOUTH GROUP REUNION - Are you a college student or young professional with fond memories of mission trips, filling rental vans with laughter, growing close to God and your peers, all fueled with lots of pizza? We are having a youth group reunion on Wednesday, December 28 from 6pm-8pm in the youth room. Catch up with your friends, enjoy some pizza, and enjoy warm fellowship with God and your fellow youth group alums. LIBERATION VETERANS SERVICES DINNER - We will be preparing and taking dinner to LVS January 1st. We will meet at the church at 4:00 to prepare the meal, leave for the shelter at 5:30, and will return to the church around 8:00. If you are interested in participating or need info, please contact Jeff Branyon at [email protected] or 320-3616. CHARGE CONFERENCE is scheduled for Sunday, January 15th, 2017 immediately following our worship service. There will only be one service at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Peter Moon, District Superintendent for the Richmond District of the United Methodist Church, will be our guest pastor for this service and will chair the Charge Conference. All church members are invited to attend. SABBATH MOMENTS – will meet Tuesday, January 17th at 10 a.m. at The Egg and I Restaurant. Ever wonder what it would be like to be a writer...a writer of Christian books? Maybe you have even started to write but are not sure how to move forward or how to work through the self doubts. Well you must come to our next Sabbath Moments! Judy Gattis Smith, a member of TBC, and a published author, will talk about her spiritual journey as a writer for Christian Education. WOMEN OF THE BIBLE - The Ladies Bible Fellowship (PM) winter study meets Tuesdays, January 10th through March 7th at 6:30 p.m. Required text: "Women & Identity," by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun & Tracey Bianchi, Intervarsity Press, ISBN 978-0-8308-3108-1. Books are available at Lifeway. Do you know women who experience hardships but laugh easily, love God and others while showing amazing grace through the storms of life? With openness and compassion, they are able to share their faith experiences to encourage us. In this nine week study, we will examine some extraordinary women of the Bible who demonstrate this grace. All women are invited to join and explore a new way of seeing ourselves and others. PAUL’S LETTER TO THE EPHESIANS - The Ladies Bible Fellowship (AM) winter study meets Tuesdays, January 10th through April 11th at 10:30 a.m. Required Text: "Ephesians; Wholeness for a Broken World," by Andrew T. & Phyllis J. Le Peau, Intervarsity Press, ISBN 9780830830121. Books are available at Lifeway. Broken relationships, racial divisions, war between nations, we live in a "fractured" world. Is there any hope for reconciliation or a sense of wholeness? Paul's messages in his letter to the Ephesians guides us back to the future where God's plan unites everyone in Christ. Join the morning ladies study group in a friendly, open and often lively conversation about topics relevant to those years ago as well as today.
