The Big Pedal is funded by the British cycle industry under the Bike Hub levy scheme. Bike Hub is an industry-wide initiative developed by The Bicycle Association of Great Britain and the Association of Cycle Traders. The objective of Bike Hub is to generate funds through voluntary contributions from within the cycle industry to invest in projects in order to safeguard the future of cycling. Bikeability is the national cycle training scheme, based on the National Standard for Cycle Training, which is shared by all UK governments. More than 300,000 children learn to cycle the Bikeability way each year, and this number is still increasing as it spreads to all parts of the United Kingdom. The Big Pedal is powered by Sustrans, the charity that’s enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day.
