Donors enjoying the Riding the Bimah thank you party!

Celebrating the Mitzvah of Giving Donor support at all levels from members and non-members alike are truly a blessing to the daily life of Temple Sholom. We rely on generous contributions that allow our clergy members to be on hand to tend to various lifecycle needs: baby namings, brit milah, b’nai mitzvah, weddings, funerals and weekly worship services. Among other thing, your gifts allow us the mitzvah of offering membership for all, regardless of one’s ability to pay, and subsidized fees for our religious school in order to offer affordable educational opportunities for our youth. Hopefully you enjoyed our beautiful High Holy Day services and the fact that we took on the ambitious task of installing a much needed and impressive new sound system in the sanctuary. It was an important decision for the Temple Board to undertake, given the added expense and necessary fundraising. While we are delighted to announce an $85,000 matching grant from Westlawn Cemetery & Mausoleum and Lakeshore Jewish Funerals to support our new sanctuary sound program – we are looking to you – our members, donors and friends – to help meet this extraordinary challenge with an additional gift this year. Please help us make Temple Sholom the place of excellence we all desire. Become a stakeholder and join together with others in the mitzvah of giving! To make a gift or for more information, contact: Marla Krupman, Development Director at [email protected] or 773-435-1535.

BLOOD DRIVE Sunday,

November 20 8:00am

Be on the lookout for our

NEW WEBSITE!Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers and staff, the new sholomchicago.org is set to launch later this

month! We couldn’t have done it without Eric Revels, Pam Lookatch and Juliana Schafer, as well as Jay Rapoport, Margaret Friedman-Vaughan and Danna Brim, and our partners at Alliance Labs, David Hornreich and Jon Schickedanz.

Our Monthly Feed the Hungry Program will be held on Sunday, November 13th. Volunteers gather to assemble healthy brown bag meals which are distributed to the hungry at the Greater Bethlehem Healing Temple. Volunteers are needed at 9:00am for an hour (or less!). To participate, contact [email protected].

Life Source will be hosting another blood drive on Sunday, November 20th starting at 8:00am in Bettie Port Hall. If you are able, please consider participating in this important activity of donating blood. Remember, it only takes a single unit to save 3 lives and our local hospitals are always in need.

Our Thanksgiving Monday Meal will be held on Monday, November 21st. What started as a regular Monday Meal has blossomed into a feast with 150 guests. Further information and volunteer opportunities can be found on our website.

CHIdush: Honing the skill of innovation

Helping synagogue schools createcompelling educational experiences

Creativity and innovation come naturally to some. But they also are skills that can be learned, honed and heightened in the right environment. That’s why Temple Sholom has joined CHIdush, an exciting new cohort designed to teach our leadership team the best ways to continue making our education program meaningful and relevant for our existing families and, at the same time, more welcoming and accessible to young families we haven’t yet reached.
