Installation Instructions: Clear-Flex SDX seamless polyurethane connecting sleeves are designed to be installed on gyratory

and vibratory equipment with enough slack to allow for the machine motion.

do not pull clear-Flex tight! A rule of thumb is to add 3” to 4” to the transition length in order to accommodate the machine’s

gyratory movement. Pulling the Clear-Flex product “tight” over the length of the gap between the machines will result in premature

sleeve failure.

SLeeVe-WItHIn-A-SLeeVe™ connectorS

Sleeve-within-a-Sleeve™ connectors provide better dust control, easy installation, longer life and are more cost-effective!

the Solution:

Our sleeve-within-a-sleeve design eliminates product buildup. It combines an outer dust-control sleeve with a free-end inner sleeve to keep powder, pellets and other loose materials flowing. The inner sleeve extends a few inches into the inside of the spouting. Only the inner sleeve is in contact with the product. The outer sleeve is clamped top and bottom for dust-free seal.

Traditional flexible sleeves may allow product to become trapped between the inside of the sleeve and the outside of the pipe. Hose clamps at the sleeve bottom and steady product build up may combine to cut the sleeve material causing leaks and premature sleeve failure.

the Problem:

• More dust. • Lost product. • More housekeeping. • Replacement sleeve expense.

no leaks, longer sleeve life!

• Eliminates dust and product leakage • Reduces housekeeping & maintenance

• Reduces sleeve wear • Improves sanitation

• Increases safety

control static charges without the risk of wires contaminating your product.

FDA-acceptable inside and outside product contact surfaces. Make cut-to-length static-conductive sleeves quickly and easily. no static, no static worries!

Unique static-conductive layer is an integral component of the tubing wall circumference. Static conductive layer offers surface resistance of <.01 megohms.

Simply push a metal clip into each end and connect to metal spouting. Static-conductive channel is located under the branding strip on the outside of the tubing.

Available in two designs:

• 25 psi pressure rated hose

• Lighter weight non-pressure rated flexible tubing

Both feature a 1/8” (3.2mm) thick, white FDA-acceptable rubber tube and grey neoprene cover. choose from the following tubing compounds to meet your application requirements:

• White FDA Natural Gum Rubber

• White FDA Neoprene

• White FDA EPDM

• White FDA Carboxylated Nitrile

If you are looking for a non-FDA option black Static-conductive neoprene tubing is for you. N55C is a high grade Neoprene rubber

compound formulated to provide the properties of Neoprene - moderate oil resistance in addition to resistance to the elements.

The incorporation of special black fillers provides a high level of electrical conductivity in the finished products as well as abrasion

resistance. The compound is rated “conductive”.

Save more than money!Save time.....

Polyurethane corrugated sleeves do not rip. They develop a pin-hole leak that limits the amount of material that escapes. Less material lost means less clean up time.

Longer sleeve life means fewer sleeve changes. Fewer sleeve changes means you spend less time with downtime.

What is going through the sleeve?

Is your product dry, wet, oily, sticky, abrasive, food grade, high temp or low? With 30 years in the flexible connector business, We have learned why some sleeves succeed when others fail.

Polyurethane corrugated SleevesGet better connected with the best value in corrugated sleeves: Polyurethane. For dry processing applications, polyurethane has five times better abrasion resistance & ten times better flex fatigue resistance than neoprene, the most common rubber corrugated sleeve.

Molded corrugated sleeves are available in five different rubber compounds • Gum Rubber

bFM® FIttIng FAct SHeet

1. bFM® connector and Spigot SizingBFM® fitting are available in a variety of diameters, lengths and connector compounds. The BFM® fitting system is composed of steel connector spigots and flexible connectors with matching molded end fittings that interlock with and disconnect from the spigot without need of tools.

The BFM® fitting system requires a steel spigot to be mounted to each equipment port, which then allows the BFM connector to be snapped in and out without tools or band clamps.

2. bFM® tool-release connectorSpigots are also available with a release-tool hole for industries that require it. A small hole in the spigot allows the rod tool to be used to start the removal of the connector from the spigot.

3. bFM® fitting Metal Spigot MaterialsBFM® fitting spigots are available in three types of steel: 304L SS; 316L SS, and mild steel. Material certifications are available upon request.

Should you require custom length or tapered diameter connectors: It is strongly

recommended you order more

than one at a time. We maintain

a very large stock of the standard

connectors. It is impractical for us

to stock all the non-standard and

tapered sleeves our customers use.

To avoid downtime, We suggest you

order 2 or 3 of any non-standard

connector. We offer a “blanket order”

purchasing program to assist you.

4. Spigot Attachment optionsIn addition to welding directly on to spouting, BFM® spigots may be attached using:

• Quickconnect™ modular flanges

• tri-clover™ sanitary clamps

• Standard flanges

• compression couplings

5. Alternative uses for bFM® fitting connectorsBFM® fitting connectors are available in a cap and bag style. These are very effective replacements for rubber caps and inspection covers. In addition, the bags come in longer lengths for use on sifter “overs” outlets as a collection method. The operator can see the bag as it fills and easily snap it out to empty as needed.

6. chemical and temperature resistance BFM® Connectors are available in all diameters and lengths in 9 different compounds.

8. Use of bFM® fittings under vacuum and pressureVacuum: BFM® fittings can be used in vacuum applications. The connectors are available with snap-band cuffs which are rated to 40” W.G. The ideal vacuum application is one where the connector is either stationary or undergoing oscillating motion.

Pressure: BFM® fittings are designed for positive pressure applications that are stationary or oscillating. The Seeflex material is extremely strong and capable of stretching 500% without rupture. We recommend the use of the Camlon outer jacket for applicationswheretheconnectorisrunningundercontinuouspressureortheWM12KKevlarCoverinoverpressureandpotentially explosive applications over the Seeflex material to prevent “ballooning.”

7. control of electro-static discharge

For applications where there is a possibility for static build-up, BFM® fitting recommends using a static conductive wire to connect the two BFM® fitting spigots together. Seeflex polyurethane connectors provide static dissipation of electro-static charge.

Step 4Push the seal toward the center of the fitting at a different point on the circumference. On large diameters this step may need to be repeated several times.

Step 2Seat the back of the connector into the BFM® spigot and release.

Step 5coMPLete. Now repeat the process for the other end of the connector.

Step 6Snap the second spigot ensuring that the welded seam of the connector is straight and that points A and b are directly in line. the bFM® fitting is now ready to go.

Step 3There is a possibility the seal will not fully snap out the first time, if so see Step 4.

bFM® FIttIng SPIgot InStALLAtIon

In-line Offset Oscillating

Installation Gap (IG) and Connector Length (CL)

When welding the BFM® fitting spigots to your equipment, the installation gap (IG) must be accurately measured. Use the formulas shown as a guide to accommodate machine movement.

In-line static equipment: IG=CL-0.39” (10mm) (Minimum)

offset equipment: IG=CL-3/4” (20mm) (Minimum)

oscillating equipment: IG=CL-1.5” (40mm) (Minimum)

The BFM® spigot measures 3.4” long. It has a 2” long tail which may be cut shorter or cut on an angle to fit your existing pipe work.

It is important to weld the spigot onto your pipe work with the Installation gap and connector Length in mind. Use of BFM standard length flexible connectors will save you time and money.

23

bFM® SPIgot WeLdIng InForMAtIon

do not cut the BFM® spigot and re-size before installation.

Tack BFM® spigot to correct-sized pipe.

Size spigot to pipe. Pipe circumference may need to be expanded or reduced to fit the BFM® spigot.

Peen the tacked joint to ensure correct fit.

Be careful to ensure that the circumference of the formed end after fitting and welding, remains the same size as supplied, to ensure fitting tolerance of the connector.

Weld the BFM® spigot on. Dress and polish to required standards.

If it is necessary to shorten the tail, do not cut the tail more than 1” (25mm) unless absolutely necessary. Welding any closer than 1” (25mm) to the head, could result in welding shrinkage effecting the tolerance of fit between the flexible connector cuff into the BFM® fitting.

MAgnetHAne™ is a plastic or rubber compound that is both magnetically susceptible and enhanced for metal and x-ray detection. How can MAgnetHAne™ help you win the battle against foreign material contamination?

MAGNETHANE™ is available in thermoplastic resins and thermoplastic rubber compounds. In either form, MAGNETHANE™ provides both a very powerful magnetic susceptibility and excellent metal detectability. The plastic and rubber parts made from MAGNETHANE ™ can be trapped and detected like metal.

• USDA/FDA acceptable for food and pharmaceutical processing

• Custom MAGNETHANE™ compounds can be designed to replace common processing components

MAgnetHAne ™ connecting SleevesSifting and screening equipment utilize flexible sleeves for inlet and discharge connectors. MAGNETHANE’S detectability allows you to use your existing metal detection, x-ray screening and magnetic traps to help keep component particles out of your product, particles that may otherwise have gone undetected in your finished goods until it was too late.

Screen cleaning ballsWith the Magnetic Dura-Ball MD, standard in-line magnetic traps will capture virtually all particles, chips and fragments of the ball which escape the ball tray and enter your product stream. The Magnetic Dura-Ball MD is made from a homogenous blend of magnetically-reactive polyurethanes. The entire ball, from surface to core, has very strong attraction to magnetic fields. This provides greater safety and effectiveness than balls with steel cores.

PtFe Woven Fabric

PTFE Woven fabrics are woven from expanded PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), the most chemically and UV-radiation resistant yarn available. The release properties of PTFE act to help prevent build-up of contaminants, and also enables easy cleaning of the fabric. Years of outdoor exposure will not deteriorate the fabric as solar radiation will not weaken the yarn, nor will salt water, atmospheric pollutants, mold or mildew.

We offer two types of 100% PtFe woven materials. Both are white and food-grade per applicable US and EC regulations.

• PTFE Woven Fabric

• PTFE Woven (Teflex®) Laminate

PtFe Laminate

Our PTFE Laminate Film connectors have non-stick surfaces, resist most processing chemicals and can operate continuously at 600° F/316° C. The proprietary cross-laminated structure makes them resistant to tearing, and they are FDA, 3-A and EC compliant for food contact.

PTFE Laminate is FDA-acceptable, non-stick, very flexible laminated film with outstanding resistance to harsh chemicals and solvents. Immune to outdoor environments and environmental aging. Ideal for use with harsh c-I-P chemicals and extreme temperatures.
