In the North West, one in ten jobs are now in the creative and digital sector. Manchester is the second largest creative and digital city in Europe. This has generated real demand for people with hands-on industry experience.

The purpose of UTC@MediaCityUK is to give you the workplace skills companies are crying out for.

We work with employer partners to ensure what you learn really is relevant to what those industries require. We equip you with the technical skills, industry awareness and commercial knowledge to get started in this fast-moving environment.

A more productive dayAt UTC@MediaCityUK, we start at 8.30 am and finish at 4.30 or 5.30 pm, depending on the day. That allows time for core subjects to run alongside you picking up more specialist skills. It also gets you used to working similar hours to those in the workplace rather than those at school.

A work-ready skill-setBy devoting substantial amounts of study time to employer-led initiatives, we give students the hands-on skills so hard to teach in the classroom – through work placements, live projects, master-class sessions, mentoring and more.

An entrepreneurial attitudeWe instil qualities such as independence, versatility and resilience in our students – an entrepreneurial attitude we believe is essential for success in an industry characterised by so many small businesses and self-employed workers.
