Project Overview

• The project proposal is to build a new tennis shed (replace current shed) which will be more representative of current GHS sports buildings, provide additional storage capacity for GHS and the Park and Recreation Department while continuing to provide the public with a facility to play tennis and relax.

Project Benefits • New shed will be used by both GHS girls and boys tennis programs • Increase tennis storage capacity for GHS for tennis materials such

as nets, seats, etc. and will free up space currently utilized by tennis within the building for other sports programs.

• New shed will be used by the summer Park and Recreation tennis program and separate storage unit for them will exist inside shed

• Courts can continue to be used by the public and with proposed overhang proposed, guests can relax at picnic table.

• New shed exterior (design/color) will be representative of the football stadium look and will eliminate the current shed ‘eye-sore’

• No electric is required • No “glass” windows to break • New shed location in same northeast area of tennis complex and

easy to access from parking lot for construction purposes

Current Shed Location / Design • Current shed is about 30 sq feet. • Roof is damaged and has leaked • Limited space • Eye-sore from the all directions, but especially east

include all labor and materials. Permit fees are not included if applicable as well as marking fees for the electric lines located on the school property.

Proposed Cost Decision

Slab/3 block walls, 1 framed wall/hip roof $13,440 - 3 block walls will be to the east/west/south - North wall will be framed, not blocked, as it is under

overhang and most of that side will be a door, bulletin board area, and picnic table

- Interior will be subdivided for the tennis programs,

maintenance, and park and recreation to keep division of materials in tact, as needed.

- 336 sq. ft. shed

Proposed Timing • Project completion (start to finish) would be 1-2 weeks

(weather permitting) • Project should start/finish in same season (not split

between fall / spring). For 2011, would like to start by 10/17 so finished by end of October

• Need to confirm plot surveys are fine and mark for

electrical lines around tennis court area before construction begins.

Shed Maintenance • Short-term maintenance

– Tennis program will take care of shed painting (to match football stadium) and repairs to grass, etc. from construction

• Long-term maintenance

– Limited with no electric and no windows to break – There will be restricted traffic in and out of shed for 8 months of

year (GHS coaches, GHS maintenance, Park and Recreation Tennis, etc.)

– Non use during winter months can be checked periodically for any repairs needed
