Motivation
• established around mid 1990s• after “disappointing” experiences with chess• genius, challenging, ambitious goal• interaction among agents and the environment• dynamic nondeterministic environment
• one of the largest and most successful robotics events
RoboCup Vision: By the year 2050, develop a team of fully autonomous humanoid robots that can win against the human world soccer champion team.

Pitfalls
• keep the balance between research and show• it is not (always) “rocket science”• how to draw attention to the symposium• somehow closed community• academic structures do not work anymore• tune the rules in the right way
- people from outside do not really know what RoboCup is all about
