Bathymetric Survey

Fugro EMU bathymetric surveys provide high resolution and

wide‑coverage single‑beam and multibeam swath data to

a variety of specifications, producing deliverables that are

tailored to individual client requirements.

Fugro EMU owns and operates a range of equipment including the

very latest dual-head multibeam echosounders. These systems

optimise coverage whilst maintaining resolution and significantly

reduce survey time and therefore the end cost to the client. State-

of-the art positioning equipment and strict calibration solutions are

utilised to ensure all data is both precise and accurate and meets

client specifications.

Our dedicated team of surveyors demonstrate their competency

through a comprehensive in-house training scheme and many hold

the internationally recognised FIG Cat. A accredited qualification.

Fugro EMU bathymetry surveys have been accepted by the UK

Hydrographic Office as fully meeting the requirements of the rigorous

International Hydrographic Organisation “Order 1A” standard.

Seismic Survey

Fugro EMU has a well‑established background in the

acquisition, processing and delivery of sub‑bottom datasets.

The seismic source utilised depends on the client’s

requirements and site geology, with precise technical

solutions optimised for the purpose of the data required. The

principal seismic sources used include; air guns, boomers,

pingers and sparkers.

In recent years Fugro EMU has significantly developed its

geophysical capabilities to include high-resolution multichannel

seismic reflection, often the method of choice to explore shallow

sediments and undertake shallow gas surveys. Having acquired

high quality multichannel seismic data at several sites in the North

Sea. Fugro EMU has developed a technical solution for obtaining

2D high resolution data, using a boomer source and a 24-channel

streamer. Processing efforts have also been optimised in order

make this form of data more affordable for our clients.

Sidescan Sonar Survey

Fugro EMU sidescan sonar surveys provide full coverage,

high resolution data for target detection and feature

resolution. The interpretations we produce have applications

including seabed characterisations for aggregate resource

assessment to UXO detection.

Fugro EMU Geosurvey routinely deploy high specification towfish,

operating at both high and low frequencies. Our equipment is

approved to meet JNCC survey specifications and our quality

assurance programme ensures the highest quality data from

acquisition (including navigation accuracy), through processing to

delivery.

Magnetometer Survey

Fugro EMU has extensive experience of conducting magnetometer

and gradiometer surveys in order to detect the presence of ferrous

objects on or beneath the seabed. Applications include: assisting

in the search for wrecks, identifying geological features, mapping

the location of known pipelines and cables and UXO detection.

Fugro EMU pioneered the deployment of multiple magnetometers

during survey, significantly improving cost-effectiveness compared

to standard techniques without compromising data quality, and our

team continues research into improving results for more accurate

interpretation.
