This three-day short course is designed for resource geologists, mine geologists, geoscientists, andengineers who can benefit fromenhancing their skills when usingand/or constructing resource models for evaluation of mineraldeposits.

You will:

l Learn basic geostatistical theoryl Learn practical tools to facilitate

decision-making during model construction

l Focus on resource estimation

The goal of the short course is toprovide hands-on geostatistical exercises, and participants willprovide their own software. Software support for Minesightduring the short course will beprovided by a representative of Mintec.

Topics include:

l Exploratory data analysis including capping analysis and compositing

l Valogram calculation and modelling

l Selection of estimation methodologies, search ellipses, data restrictions and other associated parameters

l Model validation and sensitivity analysis

l Special topics for mining geostatistics

Geostatistics and Resource Estimation

Instructor:

Oy Leuangthong, Ph.D., P.Eng., is Principal Geostatistician at SRKConsulting, with more than 10 yearsof experience in geostatistics for resource characterization and uncertainty assessment. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor ofMining Engineering at the University of Alberta. She hastaught geostatistics to engineersand geologists, and has consultedon mining and petroleum projects.

Registration fee:

The course registration fee is$595 + tax Member$695 + tax Nonmember

This includes all instruction andcourse material, lunches, coffeebreaks, and 21 Pdh.

No geostatistics background is necessary; however, some experience with resource modellingis recommended.

Participants are required to bringtheir own laptops and miningsoftware, with which they shouldbe familiar.
