ABOUT VILLAGE C Village C is the primary residence hall for short term housing (less than three weeks). Built in 1986, Village C is comprised of two separate wings, East and West. Village C West has 182 double occupancy rooms, while Village C East has 137 double occupancy rooms. Each room is air- conditioned and has a private bath. Since the complex is built on a hill, the entry level is on the fourth floor. The rooms are furnished with two bunkable beds, two built in desks with chairs, and two wardrobes. A shelf is mounted on the wall over one of the beds the length of the room. The rooms are wired with one data jack per resident, giving residents access to the local area network and to the Internet. Bed and bath linen is provided at no additional charge. Linen includes the following for each individual: bed sheets, blanket, pillow, and 1 bath towel. Beds are made upon arrival by our housekeeping staff, and bath linens are placed in the rooms. There is no daily housekeeping service or daily linen exchange. PHONE SERVICE All phone numbers beginning with a 784 or a 687 are on campus calls. Therefore, you only need to dial the last five digits when calling (eg. 687-5055 is 75055). All other numbers are off-campus calls. To call them, dial 9 followed by the number. If you are trying to reach someone else staying in Village C or on campus, please keep in mind that the Residence Hall Office is not authorized to give out phone or room numbers. The room number is not the same as the phone number. The RHO may transfer your call, however, to the room you are trying to reach. UABOUT NEW SOUTH New South Hall opened in 1959. The Old South building stood on the south end of the Quadrangle from 1789 until 1903, when it was replaced by Ryan Hall. At the time of its construction, the residence hall became the “southernmost” building on the main campus. Therefore it was called “New South.” A full renovation of the building was completed in 2004. Adjacent to New South Hall is the Village A apartment complex. Its typical college-style layout of long hallways and community bathrooms provides a very social atmosphere for first-year students. There are four floors with 44 to 50 rooms on a floor, arranged along each side of the corridor. Floors are coed by wing. Each floor has two conveniently located common bathrooms and shower rooms. Each floor has a furnished community room with a kitchen. All rooms are double occupancy with 2 beds, built-in desks, shelving units, chairs, a sink, and mirrored medicine cabinet. Rooms are wired with one data connection per student, giving students access to the local area network and to the Internet. Each room also has two phone jacks. LOCKOUTS The RHO can resolve lockouts for guests. During RHO office hours, the resident must present a picture ID and complete a form to be escorted to his/her room. If the RHO is closed, contact the Village C/Harbin RHO at (202) 687-2673. LOST KEYS and LOST CONFERENCE VISITOR CARDS (CVC) Lost keys and CVC cards must be reported immediately to the RHO.
