At the same time Iran’s policy was not limited only with the “nuclear dossier“ but very active steps over getting more influence in the Middle East, Persian Gulf and the Caucasus. South Caucasus – as one of the main areas of Iran’s regional aspirations – hasn’t been viewed as a such during the global pro- cess over Iran – nuclear negotiations. But in reality Tehran’s interests have never disappeared over the Caucasus and the last 2 years have brought a lot of new instruments of a better and more effective involvement.The lecture examines how Iran’s policy in the South Caucasus represents new tech- niques in pursuit of an old strategy: to maintain and expand its influence among its neighbors.
