The deepest ocean in the world – part of it is 11 kilometres deep.

There are over 25,000 islands in the Pacific Ocean.

It is the saltiest ocean on the planet.

The longest mountain range in the world runs down the middle of the Atlantic.

The third largest

ocean in the world.

It is the warmest ocean on the planet – this limits the amount of animals that can live in the ocean.

17 million barrels of oil are moved across the ocean every day.

The smallest and shallowest of all the oceans on Earth. It is covered in ice in winter – ships can get trapped in the ice.

More fish live along the edge of the Arctic Ocean than anywhere else on Earth.
