Previous Projects Previous projects include the rehabilitation and upgrading of the EN1 (Maputo to Benfica) in Mozambique. This project involved the duelling of approximately 8km of the EN1, and associated service roads. The pavement consisted of various different structures, including waterbound macadam. A special challenge was to add widening to the existing pavement which had to be modified in places to accommodate the design traffic. George handled all aspects of materials and pavement design on this project. George was also involved in the Maputo Corridor project and involved with the work in the vicinity of Maputo itself. Altogether, 28km of toll road was designed and constructed in the process, including one new interchange. Several road upgrading consisting of maintenance and light rehabilitation was completed for Roads Agency Limpopo, the latest being Roads D1649/D2702 between Thabazimbi and Dwaalboom. The roads have a combined length of 74km. The project was completed in January 2009. Similar projects were Roads D1639, D869 and Road 2352, all successfully completed for Road Agency Limpopo. George has also been involved with similar projects in Botswana as part of the CPP Botswana team, a company in which he is a director. This list of projects include Selebi Phikwe to Sephophe, Pahalaye to Serule, Rakops to Matopi, Sekoma to Kokotcha and Kanye to Ramathlabama. Locally George has worked as materials and pavement engineer on numerous projects including Road 374 for Gautrans (15km), Roads in Marakele National Parks for SANPARKS (55km), township roads in Ivory Park, Soweto, Lenasia and Orange Farm for Johannesburg Roads Agency. The latest projects being the upgrading of gravel roads to surfaced roads in Orange Farm (value R32m) as well as road reconstruction in Lenasia and Orange Farm, completed in June 2012. Numerous other projects were recently completed for Nkangala District Municipality, Emahlaleni Local Municipality, Mbomela Local Municipality, Thabazimbi Municipality, Moses Kotane and Ekurhuleni Metro amongst others. George also has a track record of heavy haul roads and was responsible for the design of 14km of haul road for Angloplatinum at Brakfontein for example. (Additional information available upon request)
