Geometry in HistoryEuclid, a famous mathematician was known as the “Father of Geometry” and wrote the famous book Elements about geometry.

Leonardo Da Vinci drew the Vitruvian Man which showed the symmetry of a man as shown in the picture below.

The ancient Egyptians made pyramids for their king’s tombs or for other reasons.

Getting Out Of The Basics

How To Find The Perimeter of a Shape

The way that you find the perimeter of a shape is you measure each side and add them up.

Perimeter is used to to find what is outside of a shape.

Example: 4 in. Answer: 4+4+4+4=16 in.

How to Find the Area of a Square

The area of a shape is found by multiplying length x width

Area is used to find what is inside a shape

Example: 6in.

Length is the 6in. and width is the 4in. in the example 4in. Answer:(6)(4)=24

Page 8: Geometry

How To Find The Area Of A TriangleThe area is found by doing 1/2 base x height

Example:

4in.

4in. Answer: 1/2 (4)(4)= 8

Cutting up shapes

Cut up the shape into many shapes like in the example.

Find the area of each shape then add them up.

Volume

The volume is found by doing length x base x height.

Example:

Answer: (5)(4)(7)=140
