SUMMARY i)
The Mother-well East/West Grid 1993, is a Geological and Geophysical Survey, as required by the Ministry of Northern Develop ment and Mines for assessment work purposes, following the recommen dations set forth in the Mining Act Regulations 1991.
The report includes an introduction to the property, general geology, field results and conclusions and recommendations based on the field survey.
Technical data is provided in the Assessment Data Form found at the back of the report. All field data is compiled on the accom panying plan map found at the back of the report.
GEOLOGICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY REPORT
ON THE
MOTHERWELL EAST/WEST GRID
ARNOLD TOWNSHIP
32D/5
INTRODUCTION
The Motherwell claim group consists of 16 unpatented contiguous claims. This report covers four of these unpatentedclaims.
The claims are located in the North/West corner of Arnold Township. Access to the property is via Highway 672 and east on the Assumption access road. The property is approximately 25 miles north/east of Kirkland Lake. (Shown on Figure l and Figure 2).
Ownership of the claims has been attested to by Arnold Merrick, 314 Broadway Avenue, Box 30, King Kirkland Lake, Ontario, POK IKO, and was not independently ascertained by the writer.
A North/South baseline was established at the #4-980454, //1-1179907, #2-1151348 and #3-980453 for a distance of 2,804.4 feet (855 meters). Picket lines were cut perpendicular to the Baseline and were spaced out equally across each claim (approximately 328 feet apart or 100 meters). Stations were cut and measured 30 meters spacings. The survey was carried out fay Mr. Arnold Merrick and Miss Wendy K. Weller. The line cutting was performed by Mr. A. Merrick and Miss W. Weller.
GENERAL, GEOLOGY
O.D.M. Geological Report No. 29, 1945-1 covering Arnold and Katrine Townships indicates that the predominant bedrock is basic to intermediate volcanic rocks of massive lava. The massive flows consist of thick series of pillow lava with no visible volcanic centre, The nearby Howard Lake-Misema River systems appear to be related to a fold structure, this representative fold may be formed by the inter section of a north-east and east-northeast fault.
PRESENTATION OF FIELD OBSERVATIONS AND RESULTS
Geological Survey:
The field data is presented on Map le, found in the back of this report. For purposes of this report the topography is
-2-
cribed in greater detail.
The geological survey was performed by picket line geology and traverse lines by compass and air photo interpretation.
a) Topography:
The terrain is primarily flat to gentle ridges of glacial debris in the form of small glacial eskers that run bet ween low wet spruce and pine bogs.
In claim L-1151348 the vegetation is 2/3 jack pine re plant which surrounds an open spruce bog that runs along the Hydro line.
In claim L-980453 there is a mixture of poplar, birch and alder. In the north centre to the west end of the claim is jack pine replant. In the North-West section of the claim is a low lying wet spruce bog.
In claim L-1179907 3/4 of the claim is covered with jack pine replant. In the south-east corner is a mixture of poplar, birch and alder. The Hydro line also runs through this claim.
In claim L-980454 is a mixture of jack pine replant, that surrounds a low lying wet spruce bog in the south/west corner and in the south/east corners of the claim.
b) Geology:
On PL 1+OOS at 3+50E going south 10 meters are two small exposed outcrops. These outcrops are the only ones found in the four claims. They were found to be green to green-grey rock, the weathering on surface made them green/black in colour. These outcrops were mapped as an andesite or dacite, because of the small exposure. It is hard to determine if they are intru sive or extrusive part of the flow.
For this report only claims L-1179907 and L-980454 will be assessed, due to geology was recorded on claims L-1151348 and L-980453 in the M/W Project done in October 1991, written by Mary Mahood-Greer.
Electromagnetic Survey:
The field data is presented on Maps la and Ib, found in the back of this report.
The VLF-EM data is illustrated as a profiled data along the survey lines and is plotted at a vertical scale of one inch s - 4051*

with the in-phase to the north and the quadrature to the south.
In 1991 a survey was completed, along a N/S grid. That showed a very distinctive conductor in the north half of claim L-980453 and also along the north boundary of L-1151348. It was concluded to define this conductor better a north/south baseline should be established with E/W picket lines and the station ((Mary- land should be used. This station would provide more necessary information in detecting any north/south anomalies)). (M. Mahood- Greer).
A distinctive conductor from PL3+OOW 2+40E to PL2+OOS 3+OOE can be seen.Becauseof astrong interference from the Hydro line in L-1151348 k L-1179907 it is impossible to tell with the NSS station if there are any conductors.
But also reading these lines with Cutler, NAA, which reads approximately 90 0 off line to the north, the interference is not as strong by the Hydro line. There is a small conductor in L-1151348 PL 3+OOW 3+90W that runs south to PLO+00 3+90W. There is also some activity in L-980453 on PL 0+00 2+70E.
Figure 3 - Conductor and Apparent Conductivity of over burden from the G.S.C., 1993 (32D/5) shows a north/south trend with two large high features. The two surveys compliment each other regarding the north/south conductor in claims L-980453 and L-980454, which is more pronounced from the air.
Magnetic Survey:
The field data is presented on a map Id found in the back of this report.
The magnetic data is illustrated as isomagnetic contours (contour intervals 10-100 gammas) on a map of corrected magnetic values recorded at each station. Little magnetic variation was recorded, but by contouring at 10 gammas showed four different low magnetic anomalies.
On L-980454 a low magnetic feature shows up crossing PL 1+OOS, PL2+OOW, PL3+OOS. The lowest area of the feature is on PL2+OOS 9+OOE. In L-980453 a low magnetic feature shows crossing PLO+00, PL1+OON and PL2+OOW.
The stratagraphic magnetic trend runs north-northeast also showing on Figure 4 - Aeromagnetic Data, GSC 1993. A low large feature showing on the west side of the GSC, 1993, map is also prominant on the Id map for the survey.
As shown on Figure 5 - Kirkland Lake Kimberlite Field map there are diamond bearing kimberlite shown. This large low magnetic trend could be the outer edge of a kimberlite pipe.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Both the VLF survey and the Magnetometer survey show major anomalous areas. The strongest of the four anomalies is between PL 2+OOW to PL 0+00 at 1+80E. This anomaly needs further investiga tion. Using the results from the 1st survey in October 1991 (Mother- well Project) and this year's, a diamond drilling program should be looked at. Since the NSS station picked up north-south zones that have been proven to be auriferous areas, if not a diamond drill pro gram, than a horizontal loop may further enhance the VLF and magne tometer anomalies. In the south/west corner a detail grid should be run, to help with defining the anomalie in that corner (because of the interference from the Hydro line).
